DinoToyForum

There's probably no need for us all to introduce ourselves all over again. But here's a thread where we can recap if we wish!

I'm Dinotoyforum and I'm the Dinosaur Toy Forum administrator. I also run the Dinosaur Toy Blog. In 'real life' I'm a palaeontologist and a curator. :)

I was going to call this thread 'Old Members', but I didn't want to upset anybody  ;)

I shall look back at the orthocone icon with fond memories  ;D Hopefully there isn't much need for the crying smiley  :-\

ZoPteryx

Zopteryx here.  :D

Palaeontologist in training, dinosaur figure collector, exotic animal keeper (herps and fish), and bird watcher. ;D

sepp

I'm Sepp (or Lisa if you want to be realistic), I'm an artist by hobby and I keep fish, axolotls, snakes, and a cat - I registered on the Dino Toy Forum V.1 back in April 2008 ;D

SBell

S Bell is my actual name. I have studied paleontology, been big into fish keeping (not anymore), been trained in geomatics, worked in CADD, and currently manage a paleontology centre (with gift shop!), and have a wife and two kids. I have been collecting for about 20 years now, and have even had the opportunity to work with some companies on products.

DinoLord

I'm Andrew. I joined the original DTF forum back in early 2010. I'm a reviewer for the blog, and have had a strong interest in dinosaurs ever since first watched Jurassic Park as a toddler. I've been collecting dinosaur figures for about two years now.

Roselaar

Roselaar returns, but now his name is spelled with a capital R. You gotta wanna change along with the changes that change you, otherwise you die out. But this is as far as I'll evolve, for now.  ;)

My god, these new emoticons are creepy...

Horridus

I'm Marc, I'm from the UK and I'm hopelessly hooked on collecting plastic dinosaurs.

its nice that there are a few Palaeontologists here.
My friend thinks i am so lucky to actually chat with some.  ::)

Meso-Cenozoic

Hey, I'm here! ;D  It took a little time to make sure my profile info showed up correctly. :o  But I'm here!!  8)

I'm Chuck. I live in Jersey City, NJ (or as I like to refer to it, the NYC Metro area!). I've been a member of the original Dino Toy Forum since November 2008. So I guess that makes me an "old member".  ??? ;)

Besides being an extremely enthusiastic dinosaur figure collector, I'm also a musician -- piano, keyboards and lead vocals. Great to see you all here, old and new!  :D

Crackington

Hello everyone,

It took me a while to figure out how to get on (no need to reply to my message Adam!), but got here in the end.

I was on the old forum for a while and have managed to migrate here like "a herd of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the Serengeti" to quote John Cleese. I live near London, work as an administrator in a university, occasionally harassing paleontologists with bureaucratic nitpicking! Like S Bell, I'm also married (to the lovely Mrs Crackington) and have two great daughters who both like dinosaurs, only not as much as Barbie.

Can't believe how everyones on such low post numbers here, I don't feel so part-time! Guess it won' t last more than a couple of weeks!

Horridus

Good to see you Crackington!

Gwangi

My actual name is Arthur (or Art) and I live in central NY with my wife, 3 cats, 2 turtles, 2 chickens and a lot of freshwater fish. I've been a member and collector since August 2010 when I got my first figures and needless to say things have gotten out of hand since then. I love the outdoors and nature and almost all my hobbies involve it in some way; hunting, fishing, bird watching, hiking, nature photography, camping etc. I'll probably end up in agriculture as a career (grew up on a farm, worked on one for 10 years) but I also do some freelance writing, mostly about fish keeping.

brontodocus

Hi altogether, I'm Andre and I live in Bochum, Germany, with my life companion and our two little sons. I'm a zoologist (I specialized in entomology and later switched to crustaceans) working at our university although I'm mostly teaching students rather than actually doing research at the moment. I joined the old DTF a little over two years ago, in February 2010. I have started collecting dinosaur figures at a rather late age, about three or four years ago (my few little Inpro figures I had in the 1970s don't really count) but my collection already blew up a little. I also collect models of extant invertebrates and (mostly the more obscure) vertebrates.

Oh, and I learned reading because of dinosaurs - really, when I was still a little bront I found a book "Geschichte der Erde" on the attic (I still have it since 1975) and was shocked and fascinated by the drawings and immediately wanted to learn reading. I hope this explains a little why someone would start collecting dinosaur toys in his late thirties. This, and being a little immature, of course... ??? :o :-\ ;D

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a T-rex by Krentz? My friends all have Sideshow, I must make amends.

Dip

Nice and shiny new place... much more user friendly, thanks to all concerned!!! Cheers!

deanm

Deanm - my first name and last initial. When I started here on the forum I was already a dedicated pterosaur collector. Shortly afterwards  the forum corrupted me  ;D and now I've broadened my collection to include retro dinosaurs (Invicta, ROM, Marx, etc), prehistoric plants, fishes, and an assortment of Japanese dinosaur lines.  Pterosaurs are still the main focus - and for my long suffering wife sake (and mine I suppose ;)) I better get back to collecting only them.

To paraphrase Dr. Doofenshmirtz (from Phineas and Ferb) "Curse you, Dino Toy Forum!! My Wallet is empty again!!"  ;D

Pilkington

My username is from an old Critic episode as seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyGMiwOGBfM.  I've been collecting dinosaurs on and off for about 15 years, although I really don't have much to show for it.  I had mainly collected JP toys however I sold a lot of my collection off a few years ago.  Now I mainly focus on getting dinosaur figures/models/statues that I like, scientific accuracy isn't a big deal for me personally.  I joined the original DTF back in February 2008 and it took me four years to get a whooping 63 posts. ;D
If you wanna be alone, come with me

Bokisaurus

;) LOL! Hi everyone, its Bokisaurus! I know, I have been absent for a while. Anyway, glad to be here! :D

copper

copper reporting!
joined the "old" forum in 2010.
i've always loved dinosaurs and started seriously collecting figures and models few years ago. i paint/repaint and customize dinosaur and animal figures, i draw and paint with traditional media and do all kind of crafts and projects. and i've kept several animals  in the past, i'm into reptiles and amphibians and i have a blue-tongued lizard (and soon few fire bellied newts) and a cat.
