Does anyone have any knowledge if there will be dinosaurs in this forthcoming movie like the 1933 and 2005 versions or just giant creatures like 1976? I have watched the MTV teaser but the actors just mention 'creatures' and the only evidence is giant ape bones.

Thanks...Derek

triceratops83

If that's the same MTV short I saw, you could make out a massive Triceratops skull in the background of one of the shots. So hopefully we get some giant dinos in this version.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

I saw the video and saw a Triceratops like skull too, in a shot with people pointing guns and there's smoke all around, maybe you missed because it's obscured by it.In the 2005 King Kong, the dinosaurs were fictional species, but that skull looks very "real Triceratops"-like, I wonder if we should see this movie as part of the same world of the 2005 Kong, or is starting a whole new thing.

Silvanusaurus

It's definitely not part of the same universe as the 2005 King Kong. It's essentially another reboot, which apparently shares the same universe as the new series of american Godzilla films, with the intention of a Kong vs Godzilla cross over. This would imply that either Kong is going to be stupidly massive in the film, or there will be some kind of Science! that enlarges him. Because shared universes are so hot right now.  ::)

That's a shame,  for me personally,  I don't know what others think,  but I liked the size of Kong in 2005, it was huge without being unapproachable

Silvanusaurus

Yes, personally I think if he was a comparable enough size to Godzilla to engage in combat with him, it would ruin the character with the sheer ridiculousness of it. I'm pretty sure the 'Kong' in the old King Kong vs Godzilla film wasn't supposed to literally be the same character as the Gorilla from King Kong (who of-course doesn't even survive the events of that film).

Gwangi

This should give you an idea on his size.

LOL! I was so invested in looking for the trike skull and dinosaur stuff that i missed Kong's species itself on the video

Little known Fact. King Kongs Roll in the Original King Kong Vs Godzilla was supposed to be made for  Victor Frankensteins monster.

That would have been even more ridiculous!  :o

Well....

And then there are German dub titles of various Kaiju movies bearing his name...
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Derek.McManus

Apparently there are two endings for Godzilla vs Kong with each monster winning depending on which territory it was intended for release, Godzilla wins in the Japanese version and Kong in the US version!

Silvanusaurus

I think it's been established that the 2 ending thing is just a myth, and theres only ever been one.

Derek.McManus

Wow really I didn't know that I always accepted it was a done thing I know it's off topic but apparently Fatal attraction had two endings as well!

Yeah, that was debunked fairly early on. Kong always won, no matter which country. Not that it mattered, because Godzilla always keeps coming back somehow and has more films to his name than Kong. :)

CityRaptor

Can't keep a giant radioactive Dinosaur down. This is also the only movie where electricity has such a strong negative effect on him. It also happens to a lesser degree in Mothra vs. Godzilla.  In most movies he is either immune or gets more power from it.

The Host of that video reviewed all of the Godzilla movies up to Final Wars like that.

If Kong is going to battle Godzilla there could be 2 ways: 1. This Kong by now in Skull Island is going to be 30m height. And its small for a 108m tall. Probably he will grow up. Probably 60-70m tall.
2. This Kong probably will fight a juvenile Godzilla specie, similar to Godzilla Jr from Heisei era. Edwards confirmed years ago there could be more Godzillas in the sea.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND---director Jordan Vogt-Roberts commented on King Kong's size in this prequel movie, "From the size of the skull, you can tell that things on this island are much bigger than audiences are used to with traditional Kong lore. Our Kong is by far the biggest Kong that you've seen on screen, and that translates to a lot of different things on the island. Peter Jackson's Kong was around 25 feet. The '33 Kong ranged between 25 feet and 50 feet, I want to say he was 50-plus feet when he was on the Empire State Building. He varied in size dramatically! The '70s Kong was somewhere between them. The thing that most interested me was, how big do you need to make [Kong], so that when someone lands on this island and doesn't believe in the idea of myth, the idea of wonder – when we live in a world of social and civil unrest, and everything is crumbling around us, and technology and facts are taking over – how big does this creature need to be, so that when you stand on the ground and you look up at it, the only thing that can go through your mind is: 'That's a god.'"
Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman star.
