I'm curious,... what are your five most favoured Dinosaur figures....

... and for what reason? May it be  for some childhood memories, the price/value, scientific accuracy, play value, charme durability, fame, collectability .... whatever counts for you. Personally I struggle to pin it down to one figure, so I guessed five could be a good choice, but if you only got one favorite or in fact ten or so, feel free to contribute anyway.

So for me my most favored figures are

CollectA Proceratosaurus - for its accuracy and colorfull, birdlike head (looks like a hornbill)
Papo Apatosaurus - for the crisp details and the union of modern reconstruction and elegance (I have to admit I customized mine a bit by closing its mouth cause I found the original face expression somewhat stupid)
Rebor Dimorphodon "Punch" - for the union of up-to-date and outdated features and the overall lifelike appearance
Bullyland Edaphosaurus - for its charme and collectability (hunted it for several month until I got one in perfect condition including the tag)
Carnegie Protoceratops Diorama - for its unique oddity (and heck this one was hard to find here in Germany)

... so yes, here I am and five isn't even enough for the threadstarter....

Kaiyodo Plateosaurus - for all its awesome details in such a small figure and its charme that hooked me up on the hobby :D

No, the revetting is only in brass.  ;)

On topic: I think I could narrow down a list of 5 figures I'm most fond of, though I'll have to think about it for a while...

Toasaurus

mine are and this is hard to choose

1# schleich barapasaurus

2# safari ltd shunosaurus

3# rebor acrocanthrosaurus

4# carnegie camarasaurus

5# collecta deluxe spinosaurus (2015)

Pachyrhinosaurus

Pretty hard to keep it to five but mine are:

Battat Pachyrhinosaurus
Honorable Mention: WS Sauropelta

Megalosaurus

Rebor Acrocanthosaurus. Super detailed. Comes with an amazing prey item.
Papo Styracosaurus. Styracosaurus is currently my favorite dinosaur, and this papo is nice detailed and vivid colored. I hope to get the XPlus someday,
CollectA Plateosaurus. A nice detailed, natural looking model, that surpases the quality of its contemporary collectasaurs.
Schleich Kentrosaurus. Dinamic pose, amazing details, vivid yet credible paint scheme. I like purple.
And well, you Lanthanotus included NONDinosaur ones, so I'll include one as well.
Safari Postosuchus Amazing sculpt. Nice paint scheme.

Honorable mentions (not only dinosaurs):
Papo dimetrodon and ankylosaurus, collecta, mojo and schelich prehistoric mammals, kaiyodo invertebrates, and TS Toys ornithocheirus.
Sobreviviendo a la extinción!!!

WS Sauropelta
Carnegie Amargasaurus
Carnegie Corythosaurus
CollectA Ampelosaurus
WS Pachyrhinosaurus.

Those are my favorites that I have seen or examined closely, but there are a lot that I've only seen pics of them and if I get to see them up close will probably move to the top 5, I justI don't want to place them in the top based on pictures only. I did an exception with the Corythosaurus because I want it so bad  :P

Federreptil

The top five is always a fluid listing. Current I say:
- Diplodocus (Sean Cooper resin model)
- Spinosaurus (David Krentz resin model) both in anticipation for a future paint job
- Triceratops (first Favorite Kinto model in blue)
- Dromaeosaurus (set of four David Krentz for Shapeways)
- Gallimimus Mongolian dash (Favorite Kinto model) in a pleasant memory of my first diorama contest participation

if you would say, there are no toys:
- Ouranosaurus (Battat)
- Coelophysis (Kaiyodo)
- Pachycephalosaurus (CollectA)
- Beipiaosaurus (Safari)
- Protoceratops (Dino Expo Kaiyodo)

The two one out with honorable mention are
- Apatosaurus (Sideshow) because it isn't in my fund but still impressive
- Brontosaurus (Marx) because a china plagiat bring me in my youth to the dinosaur figures

I set out to come up with my top five by writing down my favorite Dino toys and I ended up way over five.  After a few attempts. I still couldn't whittle it down.  It was like I was afraid to hurt their feelings.  To get around this and get it down to five, I thought what five do I absolutely have to have on my shelf, and now I think I have my list.  (Some feelings were still hurt in the making of this list)

1.  1988 Carnegie Diplodocus.  Any one who knows me knows that this is my all time favorite dinosaur toy.
2.  Bullyland 2007 Stegosaurus. It is a great sculpt that is big and beautiful with its tail up high.
3.  Papo standing T-Rex.  I know it is far from perfect, but it was a gift from my wife and it commands a presence on the shelf with its 'victory roar'
4.  CollectA Utahceratops.  I fell in love with this rather unassuming but well done figure.
5.  Carnegie Corythosaurus.  Beautiful older figure.

1. Papo Apatosaurus: one of my all-time favorite dinosaurs in amazing detail and pretty accurate
2. Rebor Acrocanthosaurus: Another favorite, love the detail (even if the scales are too big), and the orange/black color scheme looks awesome
3. Schleich Kentrosaurus: Love me some stegosaurs, and this one has a nice dynamic pose to it (and I gave mine a slight repaint to tone down that bright purple)
4. Creativebeast BOTM Dromaeosaurus: even though it's technically not released yet, I have this one locked in. Beautiful sculpt/color scheme, articulation, and accurate!
5. Battat Diplodocus: a large, accurate sauropod. Even though I don't own it yet, I'm hoping Battat will re-release it and I will finally add it to my collection!

Some honorable mentions/a couple that could probably be subbed in for the above on any given day:

6. Rebor Ceratosaurus: Love the detail on this, a natural color scheme, even if the osteoderms are a bit exaggerated
7. Wild Safari Carcharodontosaurus: IMO the best Carcharodontosaurus on the market, period.
8. Papo Baryonyx: I know this one is a bit on the extreme side, but I just love the pose and detail. And I can overlook the inaccuracies

laticauda

Just for fun I decided to see how many animals were picked by multiple people. When I looked at the list I noticed a cool thing.  How diverse and amazing everyone's top five is.  Even at this early stage, only a couple of models have been picked by multiple people.

rebor acrocanthrosaurus 3
Papo Apatosaurus   2
Schleich Kentrosaurus  2
Safari Sauropelta   2
Carnegie Corythosaurus   2

Yah, it goes for insane prices, luckily I got mine in good condition for only $65. And the best they ship in is cardboard boxes wrapped in bubble wrap.
I am the Dinosaur King!

Lanthanotus

Hey, thanks so far for all your numerous contributions, interesting (and some rather unexpected) choices :)

... I'm happy you folks didn't get me too literally on the "Dinosaur figure" but also mentioned some non-dinosaur figures as it was initially intended by me. Let them roll on :)

Gwangi

Oh man, this is just too hard. I have a long list of favorites, and some come and go. At the moment it would have to be...

Papo Allosaurus- One of my first Papo figures and still one of my favorites, also my favorite Allosaurus that I own. It's very photogenic, and interesting to look at from every angle.
Safari Nasutoceratops- All of Doug's ceratopsians are great but this one is my favorite, and my favorite ceratopsian in my collection.
Carnegie Diplodocus- The newer sculpt. Big sauropod toys are increasingly rare it seems and this is one of the best. Elegant, realistic, reasonably accurate.
Sega Red Tyrannosaurus- A imposing tribute to the Tyrant King, really stands out on the shelf. I would be happy even if this was the only T. rex I owned...and the Battat.  ;)
Invicta Brachiosaurus- A timeless classic, and another big sauropod.

Honorable Mentions- Battat Diplodocus. This might be my favorite dinosaur toy EVER, if I actually owned it. Since I've never seen it in person I can't put it on this list. Other favorites include the Safari Sauropelta, Safari Postosuchus, Battat Tyrannosaurus, Carnegie Miragaia and Carnotaurus.

Patrx

This could be tricky, but I'll give it a shot:

  • Wild Safari Nasutoceratops
  • Favorite resin Desktop Triceratops (v2)
  • Kaiyodo Capsule Q Museum Tyrannosaurus (feathered)
  • Kaiyodo Kitadaniryu
  • Wild Safari Kaprosuchus
Sticking with mass-produced type stuff here, otherwise I'd have to include Krentz's Troodon and Ademar Nascimento's Mirischia.

Paleona

Hmm, let's see...

Kenner Bull T. rex - This was a surprise gift from my Dad; a treasured toy from my childhood! It's still a really impressive dinosaur and fun toy.
WS Parasaurolophus - Another item from my childhood that I really love.
Papo Allosaurus - It's so lively and just looks plain amazing.
WS Sauropelta - Lovely detailing <3
Schleich Kentrosaurus - My favorite stegosaur, and it's just so dynamic looking. Love that it's not a dull color, either!
