I wonder if this means there might be a better render pic of it down the road like with some of the others on the DPG Twitter, etc. I guess the species completionist in me will need to pick up the Mattel Pachyrhinosaurus toy at some point, because of the shared color scheme, plus it was originally intended to be this genus before it got changed for the movie for some reason.

Likely due to the JWFK crew finally coming to their senses and realising how poorly researched and disgustingly bad their design was for a Pachyrhinosaurus. And of course "public outrage" from the fandom here and there  ;)

Faelrin

I highly doubt that was the case. It was pretty clear that the 'mystery' ceratopsian in the trailer was Sinoceratops all along (even with the terrible holes in the frill), and the marketing side of things ended up being late to clarifying it as that, since it was intended to be Pachyrhinosaurus at one point, hence why the discrepancy in species with the toy (and probably the fan confusion of it being Sinoceratops in the trailer). It was clearly changed after the toy was already designed, and likely in production, since they can't just take that one back to the drawing board to change it to the new genus in the film. I doubt they changed it to Sinoceratops just because it was a bad Pachyrhinosaurus. I don't know for sure why it was changed to be Sinoceratops, but if it was due to the rumor that it was to please Chinese audiences, that would make sense. We'll be lucky if any concept art or digitial rendering exists of it as a Pachyrhinosaurus, outside of the toy, to see how well the design held up to further scrutiny. The toy itself is not so bad as a Pachyrhinosaurus either, and it might be the closest we have to seeing what the original intended design was.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM---Jeff Goldblum hinted that Laura Dern might also return for the sequel, "I don't know for sure, I can't divulge anything. But maybe, maybe she will."
Earlier, Goldblum said, "Good news to me and to everyone, [to] millions and billions of people all over the world... all over the universe and cosmos when Ellie Sattler returns."

Likely just a cameo, if true.

Takama

Not sure if we are all aware of this.

BUT THERE NOT FIXING THIS POOR DINOSAURS FRILL ::)

That's just the full reveal of the render shown in the image shared on page 33 of this thread. Feet are kind of weird looking too, but I suppose that's to be expected at this point. I honestly wish they just stuck with the Pachyrhinosaurus at this point, if the toy is anything to go by, since it is better in those areas, but it honestly is too late at this point (plus I doubt they would change the design just because a few people have an issue with it).

Though now we just have to wait for the renders of the Allosaurus, Blue, Compsognathus, Mosasaurus, Stygimoloch, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus, and maybe the Indoraptor, and possibly the Dimorphodon and Parasaurolophus if they even return in this film (which would break the long standing trend of it appearing in every movie since the first, alongside Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus, and Velociraptor, if it actually doesn't. So far it isn't looking too good, since it was missing from the first trailer, and there's only the mini figure of it in the toyline, but no actual larger toy like with the other herbivores other then the sauropods).

I wouldn't expect Parasaurolophus to be in the movie. Is it known who the artist for that Sinoceratops is?

Loon

Am I the only one who finds this thing kind of gross looking? It's skin is so "mammaly", it's literally a green rhino. Also the fat and skin around the chest and forearms is really off putting.

I just chalk it up to muddied genetic material. Like Wu said, none of them are natural.

Which reminds me of something that's been bothering me since seeing JW: Why hasn't anyone made a video combining the Mosasaurus clips w/the "Free Willy" theme? Basically, I wanna see the JW version of 0:00-0:30, but w/more of the theme included: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVGLLRPpN-0

I can't wait for Sinoceratops with holes in the frill to be the next palaeoart meme.

I doubt they'll even call it by name in the movie. It'll be like the Mamenchisaurus with diplodocid skull, nobody will even remember the dinosaur to replicate it anyway.

Faelrin

If anything I expect Stygimoloch's popularity to rise given its potential heroic role in this movie (which might explain all the merchandising that features it, and the fact there is at least one of its species with a name, not counting the number of toys of this particular one too). Which would be great since pachycephalosaurids are kind of under appreciated (even if this one might be a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus in reality, which is already the most popular of this group of dinosaurs). Baryonyx and Carnotaurus would be my next guesses (although Carnotaurus already had its shot at fame earlier thanks to Disney's Dinosaur).

Cretaceous Crab

***SPOILER ALERT***

Maybe this is old hat to some, but I just saw this last night (ref http://jurassicpark.wikia.com/wiki/Mosasaurus#cite_note-10 )

QuoteMosasaurus was confirmed for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The Mosasaurus has been confirmed on the Jurassic World website to have escaped into the ocean.

Where is DPG posting these, Twitter? The Baryonyx is fantastic, love the colour scheme and the crocodilian look they went for. It is already my favourite!

So the Baryonyx looks bad in the trailers because of the lighting and angles of the shots I guess, because the design looks pretty good in that image.

Shadowknight1

If they hadn't given the Carnotaurus elbows, it'd probably be the most accurate depiction of the dinosaur in film.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Faelrin

Yeah those pics are on the Dino Protection Group Twitter. I agree about the Carnotaurus. At least it's pretty close otherwise. Far more accurate then the Disney Dinosaur attempt (although I still have nostalgia for those since they introduced me to one of my all time favorite theropods in the first place). The Baryonyx is pretty decent looking here too (along with the toy's design), so I have to wonder if the first look at it in the trailer is just not doing it proper justice.
