Thitanium Prince's repaints & customs - Geoworld Parasaurolophus

Geoworld: the company we all love to despise, and with a lot of good reasons. There are few gems under all the dirt, tho! Tyrannosaurus Rex is not one of them for sure, the head sculpt is inaccurate and the mouth is quite deformed, but the details and the textures were not so bad, plus, a couple of Geoworld models were on sale in a store here (just 2 euros each), so I decided to pick one of them and try to give it at least a decent paintjob.
The original paint scheme was rough and splotchy, with even some blue casually sprayed on the model.
I shamelessy took inspiration from the wonderful papo t-rex that Copper repainted some time ago, not before trying to close the head a bit and fix the tail with boiling water. I also used some powdered pidments on the base to cover that hideous green chewingum.
It actually works nicely scale-wise with the CollectA Deinocheirus as a Tarbosaurus.
It's not something really brilliant, but I like a lot to take chinasaurs or mediocre models and see what a fresh new paintjob can do to improve them.
cheers!

Wow! Fantastic, it's a good job! If you have other customs/Repaints, i recommend to change the name of the thread in something like "Thitanium prince Repaints/customs"

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

Amazing how much verve your paint job gives this figure!

Great repaints. I like the lower one.

If the company painted their figures with this much detail they would have much improved sales... Excellent repaint. It makes a rather awful figure pretty great! :)
I'm seeking Orsenigo and other interesting vintage dinosaurs. Contact me if you can help with my search!

Thitanium Prince

Thanks a lot guys, I'm flattered by your feedback, it was actually quite an easy comparison, the old paintjob was just plain awful!
And I agree with Archinto, they would sell a lot more if they improved the paintjob just a bit.
Aaand time for another custom! I went back to the store and I found out they still had the same sale, only geoworld dinosaurs left in stock were Spinosaurus and Parasaurolophus. I decided to invest those 4 euros total just as a personal challenge: can I improve those ugly models?
The Spinosaurus was actually too deformed for a simple repaint, so I decided to resculpt the head, shorten the legs and totally convert that shink-wrapped sail. I like a lot the idea of a hump or at least of a beefy and fatty sail for the Spinosaurus, so I decided to go that way! The color scheme is totally improvised, I just wanted to use swampy greens as a general idea.
It was really fun and I made it in 2-3 hours total, excluding the curing time for the green stuff. Hope you like it!
I already started to work on the parasaurolophus too!

Thanks a lot guys! Sadly the store doesn't have other species, just the three I bought, I hope they will have more: 2 euros are a really low price for something to brutally repaint.
And talking about repaint, here's the parasaorolophus: the head sculpt is pretty nice, but it's overall too skinny for my tastes, it also had that horrible cangaroo posture, I had to fix it. I also added a gular sac similar to the one you can see on the siamangs. And since it didn't balance on its feet anymore I decided to build a quick base with cork and gravel, and to add a cheap model tree. It's a pretty crude and quick work, but I quite like the outcome!

Jose S.M.

Wow! It looks like a completely different (and much better) figure! All the additions to the sculpt and the paintjob are amazing and what a beautiful base!

Thanks a lot guys! I've bought the CollectA big feathered Rex just to repaint it, cause I think it's a beautiful figure but I really dislike the color scheme. Now that I've received it the details are stunning and the size is even bigger then what I expected, I'm kinda feeling bad repainting such a nice figure.
I've never had problems even with painting rare, steep warhammer models, but I'm having doubts on a toy ahahah
I'll let you know about my final decision!
If I decide to repaint it I think I'll loosely follow a modern bird color scheme, like the Secretary bird, what do you think?
