They should probably stop releasing information about this creature, and let the mystery surround it. They've already got people questioning the logic behind having genetic material for several other dinosaurs to have created this one. I would rather have seen the Abelisaurs and Giganotosaurus. Also, the idea is to have a star attraction to lure crowds back in, but isn't it still basically just a Theropod? Sure, it can change colours, but even then, will it do that in front of the audience? Other than that, being a large carnivore, wouldn't they have just as much luck with a Giganotosaurus? They could have snuck in the chameleon ability. And not sure how venomous snake attributes translate to crowd pleasing.
Yeah, logic doesn't work here. Stick to mystery.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

I think the point is to show off they can create something never seen before..same deal as P.T. Barnum, you have to keep wowing them.  They made it extra aggressive so when fed it's a slaughterfest I guess..appealing to people's base instinct I suppose.  You can see it in their Mosasaur, getting people close to the T-Rex, it's just another thrill. In a few years they'd need something else.  From what was said before the chameleon ability is something unexpected..maybe from the Carnotaurus DNA?  The website doesn't mention cuttlefish or snake venom either..my guess is those are supposed to be surprises too..ala the Dilophosaurus frill/venom.

There may also be a another option..I wonder if Masrani/Ingen have military contracts?

Basically. Gives us a new place to go in #5.  ;)

Unfortunately I think the time has come where I have to start ignoring this thread.  :( It's hard to do because I'm curious and excited about JW but I feel like I've spoiled enough for myself already.

I'm telling you the scene with dimorphodons is fun and amazing, might be a show stealer......

I know what you mean Gwangi..on one hand I'd love to go into the theater on opening day with no spoilers. Then again I kinda want to stay on the hype train and see EVERYTHING. I guess I have little self control.. lol

To be honest my expectations are getting lower as they are publishing new published material. Now matter how much I love Jurassic Park I still feel we don't need Indomimus Rex or whatever it is called. I simply wanted to see all my favorite dinos on screen. I mean who wouldn't want to see T.rex chase park visitors again?! It would actually be hilarious to see some of the original scenes sort of happen again - as everything going terribly wrong is one of the recurring themes. I would be okay with them having a genetically re-modified T.rex. 'Look, nothing can go wrong this time, we've engineered its geenes so that it doesn't find humans edible and its quite friendly now', says Dr. Wu as T.rex starts slowly pulling down the fence in the backround. :)

Anyway, it will take a lot to make me love the new monster - as I have no desire to see it and it's stealing screen time from dinosaurs I would actually like to see!

So given your animosity toward it, you will be pretty thrilled when it's taken out right? That's something to see..especially if a T-Rex does it, more so if the ORIGINAL JP Rex does it..right?

Universal Pictures updated Indominus Rex:

"We set out to make Indominus the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World...The genetic engineers at our Hammond Creation Lab have more than delivered...At first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. Rex. But its distinctive head ornamentation and ultra-tough bony osteoderms can be traced from Theropods known as Abeliosaurs. Indominus' horns have been placed above the eye orbit through genetic material hybridized from Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus. Fearsome indeed.....Indominus' roar is estimated to reach 140-160db—the same as a 747 taking off and landing. And it can reach speeds of 30 MPH while confined to its enclosure. Come experience Indominus Rex for yourself beginning this summer. If you dare."

I've been thinking..the I-Rex looks a lot like a V-Rex..especially in the head/mouth area. Universal has a new Kong film coming up and they are ( possibly, haven't seen any thing official) creating a new Kong ride right near JP at Islands of Adventure. Any chance there is something there? Just a thought I had.

I can't see how. The I-rex and V-rex have totally different origin stories. Also I would hate to think that Skull Island exists in the same universe as JP. Go through all that work to clone dinosaurs just find out their still alive on some far flung island?

Well it could be as simple as them influencing the design to relate to Kong's V-Rex design, maybe as a small bridge between the two?  Then they can use I-Rex in the Kong area too..or in a middle ground area of the Park. I'm just spitballing is all really..seeing if any ideas stick.

I was looking at the construction videos and structure design of the new building..and it looks very Jurassic World-ish to me.

Kong is getting a new movie, but why bank on it so early? JW is coming up a lot sooner and unless they are unsure of it or plan on redoing the JP: The Ride instead?

Haha! That's one option, I think I wouldn't mind! Maybe the original T.rex would be all droopy and wrinkly by now? Lol!

Sorry guys if I sounded too negative about the movie - it's still the movie I'm looking forward to seeing this year even with the aforementioned I.rex! I really want it to be good!

She has to be a full adult now..maybe her experience will make up for the lethality of the I-Rex? lol I'm seeing either the Rex/Raptors/Mosasaur or some combination thereof will end the beast.

A new report said it would be a tragic animal though..ala Frankenstein.

dutchdinolover

I have a lot of mixt feelings about this movie as well. I really don't like the idea of an I-rex. All I want to see is real dinosaurs to the latest scientific standards. I like the beginning of the trailer, were we finally see the theme park of my dreams up and running.

I preferred a good story within the park as setting. It doesn't have to go all bad for me: A good story within the park with a lot of screen time for the dinosaurs is all I want. I guess I am an exception..

I do look for forward to Jurassic World. But I don't have high expectations for it. I hope that at least they downscale that whale sized Mosasaur!

DinoG

It will probably not be as good as we all wish it was...however it is always better have lower expectations and being positively surprised than the other way round
Run!

stargatedalek

I have no problem with the i-rex, I mean its not like the other dinosaurs aren't mutant hybrids anyway.

" guy's talking sense here!" "  lol

It's true though. the hybrid is more about this science going totally overboard and out of control..the "essence of chaos".
