That spino/rex picture really look like it was from JP3.

It is :)

Alright, I figured as much. The way people were talking about it I wasn't sure if some of the members realized it or not.

...So is this a hint Spiney is coming back, dinosaur battles, Rex VS Spino rematch ..who knows?
I would find it absolutely hilarious if there were another Spinosaurus/Tyrannosaurus fight to the death, and the rex went down again! >:D
Seriously though, there are going to be as many Jurassic World B.S. stories and rumors as Star Wars:Episode VII and Avengers:Age Of Ultron!

If those set pictures are real, then the only thing I know is that the story will take place on the island of the first movie, rather than "Site B" and there will be at least one new prehistoric animal,Mosasaurus.

I did take note of one thing on the map of the park in the set pics, there do not seem to be any Velociraptors in the new park.Maybe in the story they purposely didn't breed the type that seemed to cause the most trouble in the past? :)

Maybe they'll team up against the new mutant dino ? lol

They certainly seem real, RTH posted them and they've been getting them straight from their tours.

JP Velociraptors have been confirmed to be in the film, where and to what capacity we don't really know other than rumor.
If that mutant hybrid dinosaur idea is not just a rumor, then welcome to "Sharknado" territory,Jurassic Park movie series! :)
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

Blade-of-the-Moon

It looks cool..but I do miss the red/yellow/black design..seems like it had more " POP!" .

Blade-of-the-Moon

Apparently this design is from Treverrow's hat he's wearing on set.. lol

Here's a new interview with him : http://www.slashfilm.com/jurassic-world-plot-details-colin-treverrow/

So Trevorrow confirmed it, the mutant idea is 100% true.

QuoteWill there be crossbred dinosaurs or new species created for the movie?

We were hoping audiences could discover this on their own, but yes, there will be one new dinosaur created by the park's geneticists. The gaps in her sequence were filled with DNA from other species, much like the genome in the first film was completed with frog DNA. This creation exists to fulfill a corporate mandate—they want something bigger, louder, with more teeth. And that's what they get.

I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren't doing anything here that Crichton didn't suggest in his novels. This animal is not a mutant freak. It doesn't have a snake's head or octopus tentacles. It's a dinosaur, created in the same way the others were, but now the genetics have gone to the next level. For me, it's a natural evolution of the technology introduced in the first film. Maybe it sounds crazy, but most of my favorite movies sound crazy when you describe them in a single sentence.

Make of that what you will.

Gwangi

His last paragraph there is someone reassuring. At least he is aware that if not approached the right way the fans won't accept it. Still not sure how much I like it, would rather a new large theropod be introduced or something.

tyrantqueen

Not gonna lie- it's not what I wanted. I will still give the film a chance, because it's JP, but I can't help but be disappointed with the direction they have chosen to take.

Blade-of-the-Moon

So he said no obvious animal parts...that's a relief.  It makes me think this will actually be a sort of species of dinosaur like the Dilophosaurus was just with tweaks.   They did say before this animal was the ruler of it's time..making me think it was a actual species.

Simon

Harumph.

So I guess they have now dispensed with pretense and completed the move started with the JPIII "Spinosaurus" by eliminating any illusion that what we were seeing was a dinosaur instead of an imaginary monster.

I suppose it also means that they will probably also dispense with the "prohibition" on dino-killing of JP I - III.  I can't imagine that this "thing" isn't gonna wind up getting blown up or riddled with bullets .... sounds like another rehash of the previous plots only "Bigger, Badder, Better!!"  NOT!

Somehow I have suddenly lost my appetite .....

Simon

"This creation exists to fulfill a corporate mandate—they want something bigger, louder, with more teeth. And that's what they get."

The only corporate mandate here might be a "Spielberg mandate" to top the last one or forget about the picture .... The CGI will undoubtedly be light years ahead of the first 3 films ... just hope there will be enough "real dinosaurs" in there ... with the cost of CGI having gone way down since 2001 they have no excuse ....

It's just a T.rex with genes spliced into it. That is the "new" species. Diabolus rex or whatever they were calling it. Diabolus rex...reminds me of a certain species of diabolical "Taranodon":

QuoteWhat JoBlo did not mention however, is the name of this super predator, which we now know, thanks to our source. The name of this new super predator is officially known as Diabolus Rex or "D-Rex" for short. The creature is a spliced breed of Tyrannosaur with bits of Raptor and Cuttle Fish, allowing it to camouflage itself with its surroundings. It's a badass and is the primary reason why things at this new park run amok.

I'm...sort of happy that T.rex is returning, I guess? I don't think they needed to go the crossbreeding route though. Tyrannosaurus is awesome enough as it is, we don't need to take the fantasy route and start turning it into some kind of science fiction creature.

Oh well, we'll see :-X

Blade-of-the-Moon

There should be plenty of dinos other than the D-Rex...judging by the map at any rate.

We have sort of a per-conceived notion that corporate types don't really care about anything other than the bottom line, ala Ludlow from JP:TLW ..so makes them perfect villains for doing anything for money. In that context I can see this creature being made though I question it's entertainment value unless it's for a bloodsport...something to toss into a ring with other dinosaurs and watch it maim and kill for money.

I'm sure we'll have our regular T-Rex in the Tyrannosaur Kingdom attraction.

I did like his analogy of the kid on his cellphone with his back to a real T-Rex peering through the glass..totally unresponsive to this wonder any more. It's a sad fact that is what is happening now to so many people and not just kids..we thrive on the new and most don't appreciate past achievements. That all goes back to Malcolm's lines about how Ingen stood on the shoulders of geniuses and took the next the step..always aiming for new and not giving the past enough consideration.

Balaur

Alright. I am a little relieved, but I'm still disappointed. No fantasy route for me. I'm out.

Patrx

Well, though it doesn't seem quite as promising as it once did, Jurassic World can't possibly end up a bigger disappointment then Godzilla. In any case, I respect the way Trevorrow is handling the apparent backlash.
