Pliosaur toy by Tone Hitchcock for the Bristol Museum

Went to the museum today, it's a lovely place to visit. Enjoyed the exhibition though it's a little small. The entrance to the exhibition finds the main model which is very impressive.
The actual fossil is found within the next room which also contains a history of pliosaur toys through the ages. If you look closely you see a far superior resin model. Let's hope they do release it.

Whilst there I checked out the toy figure. It's hollow and a bit ropey but ultimately successful as the children in the museum seem to enjoy playing with it.

I would like to know the inchs of this figure  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

About 18cms long I would say
I thought the figure was going to be a lot bigger :( But hopefully we will have the collector's edition.

So, any helpful Brits who might help out a creditcardless fellow collector in getting one of these lovelies? ;)

I can happily do that for you.  PM me your name and address.  I'm not sure if I will be able to get the museum to send to you direct or if I'll have to buy and then send on but either is fine.  I'll be out most of the day but in again later.

Whose collection of marine critters is that? There's some pretty nice stuff in there.

Anthony Beeson loaned it for display. I understand he has a close relationship with the Bristol museum (as well as CollectA).

Interesting. He's not on the DTF, is he? If any American museums need a similar display they know who to call.  8)

Nice collection of figures and an interesting move by a museum :)

They actively encouraged people to touch the exhibit to get a feel of the skin. Very friendly volunteers and from what I could see, lots of happy children.

Hmmm. I could imagine getting One. Do they ship to Germany?
According to their website yes. Postage is £6.95.

Thank you.  Since I like museum exclusives I guess I am going to get myself one.

Well, mine arrived today and I like it.  It is a kid's toy for sure, but it is nicely made, and the skin detail and colours are great.

Although the final figure looks disappointing, it still looks good, and with such limited release, very much worth getting especially
for the price. I ordered 2 of them, looking forward to finally seeing them in person.

I just got mine today:

The softened teeth are dissapointing, but I think for the price this is a nice figure that, as others say, will likely become scarce eventually, and it's really nice to have a unique toy produced by a specific museum, which doesn't happen very often at all over here. I really wish this was a more regular practice. I might never get down to see the exhibit in Bristol myself, but at least now I have shown my support for such things and have a historical memento to add to my collection.
I like the detail of the gnarled back flipper, and the patterning is quite elegant, if duller than the orginal model. I dont think the softness of the skin/face detail is that much of a negative as it works for an aquatic animal. When you look at some of the exclusive Bullyland museum pieces, the definition and the quality was no higher than this, but it doesnt take away from their 'special-ness'. I do also really hope there is a higher quality collector's version released.
Regarding the measurement, it's actually just under 26cm from head to tail, and 16cm across the tips of the larger hind flippers. I'm not sure what size others expected, but its actually quite a bit bigger than I thought it would be.

Ordered mine. Shipping to the US cost as much as the figure itself. But I don't want to miss out on this one like the Svalbard pliosaur Predator X figure.

This is the first I've heard of that one! The thread on the old DTF is, unfortunately, a Photobucket casualty, so all I can find are blurry photos on Google Images. Looks right up your alley, though!

Yup. I've been drooling over it for years, but I don't expect I'll ever come across one in my lifetime, much like the Jack in the Box Dolichorhynchops.
