farewell Lonesome George...  :'(
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

Not only losing a great fellow, but a whole subspecies. Sad.
Rest in peace, George!
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Very sad. A great loss for Galapagos, and another black mark on humanity's track record. Oh well, at least he's no longer lonesome...  :-\

That's what I said. Though the species was essentially extinct long before he died just knowing they're now completely gone was enough to bring a tear to my eye.

:'( He's with Archelon and Meiolania now...
