Looks like Godzilla finally mutated into a fatty mammal-somewhat. Not my cup of tea, thanks.

Better than external mammalian ears like most of them have.

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Apparently he is a plant-based creature this time.

SO basically Biolante ;D

Well in the movie they said Biollante was evolving.  So maybe she evolved to look like Godzilla.   ;D

You know for the price of the figure  I would like it to be more with Godzilla colors.  Or to come with a beam effect.

All the best Godzilla designs have some very mammalian features, he's never been that much of a reptile. The little mammal ears he normally has are essential. Though, colour aside, this new design almost looks like a flayed grizzly bear with flint shards in its back.

I don't know man, that sounds pretty cool. I actually really like the design, but I still prefer the attempts to make Godzilla more natural by Legendary.

I agree with that.

This Godzilla looks ok. A bit chunky around the gut, and the legs look too long, and I'm not sure if it has eyes, but from a distance it looks ok.
like a bantha!

When I saw the pics of this new Godzilla just now, I could only think " Biollante" .  He looks like a plant-like godzilla ,  his body looks like trunks and bark, his spines look like leaves.  only his eyes appear human-like?   very odd.

Animation looks neat, at first I thought it was just pure cg, but it appears to be some kind of hybrid, not really cell- shaded, but not full cg. It also looks to be keeping with the new tone set up in shin gojira of a more unfeeling, force of nature-style Godzilla.

I love a variety of different Godzilla designs, but what actually is this? What am I looking at here? When DC's Swamp Thing and Barney the Dinosaur conceived a child together, why was it not destroyed immediately? Why was it not just fed to Popeye before it could get this big?
I dont understand.

That's just a bad angle, most Gojira designs look awful directly from the front. Even the Legendary ends up looking like it has a giant Looney Tunes - esque sore on its nose (and this ones seems largely based on the Legendary version).

That simply is not true. All the best Godzilla designs look great from head on, in some cases they look even scarier from that angle. There's no way the blame for it looking like this can be attributed to the Legendary design. The 2014 Godzilla actually looks most menacing from the front, look at this hunk:

I'm getting chills from these bad boys:

Even in the original film, where he looked pretty weird in different angles, he still came off looking menacing when he looked at you:

And the older suit designs that look silly from the front also looked silly from all angles, and can be forgiven for the fact that they are limited by being a physical suit.

Then you get to this, which looks just as pathetic from a side angle:

It's not a bad angle, it's just a bad design. It doesn't look powerful, just limp and droopy and sad, like some weird dog-thing made of spinach, on the edge of wilting into an amorphous sludgy puddle. It has a face that says "please destroy me", rather than "I will destroy everything in my path". The eyes are the worst part, they make him look like an old man whose lost the will to get out of bed in the morning. Whoever designed it failed to grasp the very appeal of Godzilla; menacing, imposing, unrelenting, and aside from anything else, an incredibly cool monster. There's no excuse for a modern Godzilla to look as lame and flaccid as this.

Loon

Getting some real Rooter vibes from that face...

WarrenJB

Yeah... I don't mind many of the changes in Godzilla's design over the years, but I have to say the sad blue eyes aren't doing much for me. The rest looks a bit amorphous.
