Giganotosaurus is not from the same time as Amargasaurus, it's known from millions of years after Amargasaurus.  The only other dinosaurs from the same formation as Amargasaurus appear to be little-known animals known from fragmentary remains: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Amarga_Formation

oh I thought they were contemporaries b/c of the Luis Rey painting of them together...anyway Ill probably skip the amarga b/c I already have the Battat and Carnegie versions and I prefer their smaller size.

Simon

Companies like Safari will NEVER render a, say, Argentinosaurus at 1:40 scale, because the costs of making it, transport, etc., probably would not be justified by the sales (it would be mucho expensive, and it isn't one of the "sexy" dinos like TRex, Triceratops, etc).

For those of you who like having a similarly scaled display, it calls for creativity - the Tamiya styrene plastic 1:35 Brachiosaurus is a wonderful model of a giant sauropod when displayed with 1:40 figures, for example, and the PNSO Huenghetitan is a capable stand-in as a top-of-the-size-scale titanosaur when used in a 1:35 scale display....

Oh, I guess it's this painting: https://dibertfiction.wordpress.com/giganotosaurus-amargasaurus-and-argentinosaurus-by-luis-rey/  That's a surprising combination of dinosaurs in that painting...  Amaragasaurus, Giganotosaurus and Argentinosaurus, none of these three are known to have existed together.

I found this page where Luis Rey says, and shows, he has turned the "fictional" painting of Giganotosaurus and Amargasaurus into the "factual" painting of Mapusaurus and Argentinosaurus.: http://www.luisrey.ndtilda.co.uk/html/holtz07.htm

Indeed, Giganotosaurus' reputation as a giant slayer has been woefully misplaced. The sauropods it lived alongside were barely larger than itself!

I don't know why, but the Amargasaurus reminds me of Skeletor. Maybe it's the buff body with a tiny head and exposed teeth, the cartoonish color probably helps too.

Anzu on the other hand is fantastic, I may think about getting it when I start earning some money.

...Papo will probably make the first 'realistic' (as in 'lifelike'...I don't want to get into that topic...so many threads devoted to that subject) Amargasaurus in toy form...

Haha. You guys can pretty much ignore everything I've ever said. How could I have been so wrong!?  :-[

The Anzu is truly fabulous - The Amargasaurus on the other hand, is really... something. Don't get me wrong, the sculpt is amazing, it's just something on the head that kind of bugs me.
Dude, I very like Dinos and I cannot understand those who don't.

Because you probably had in mind a sculpt on the level of the Apatosaurus, which would have been fantastic indeed. Papo did commission the Amargasaurus to the wrong person, we'll have to hope for PNSO to release theirs to have a great Amargasaurus figure. Rebor won't ever bother because it's an herbivore.

yes thats the painting I meant. I have like 2 or 3 dinosaur books with that painting in it so Im very fond of it. I like how he did a corrected version of it too. I need to pick up his book someday. I love his art even if it can be a bit OTT!  ;D

In such case there must be a badass theropod to pair the carcass with.

We might be getting off topic, but...

I'll be surprised that Giganotosaurus is not a giant slayer given its adaptations.
The sauropods discovered that were its contemporaries were of similar sizes.
For all we know, there is a massive titanosaur waiting to be discovered.

By the way all the news of dinosaurs (amargasaurus and anzu) and prehistoric mammals (daeodon and mamut americanum or American mastodon) are available in the store of Dansdinosaurs os pass the link:

The Anzu is very tempting at that price, going to wait for someone else's actual pictures to decide though.

Concavenator

Wouldn't it  be awesome  if someone got that Anzu and did a review ? 8)

You know what would really make me happy?

A rerelease of the 2017 T. rex mounted on a sturdy base. I've been experiencing a great deal of frustration lately with getting mine to remain standing up. :(

That's really sad, such a great figure but that standing issue  :'(, mine stood by itself for like a week, then it's right leg warped, not much but enough to make it fall on it's face, I placed a small piece of hardened clay below it foot and it's standing well now but I wish it could do it on it's own.

Yep, I had to settle for the tripod stance.

My Feathered T. rex is sort of leaning up against my JW poster/wall. I definitely retained the plastic tray its feet came in, in case I need it down the road.

I think I do want that Anzu. I keep looking at it, and the more it grows on me. I'm going to have to wait a bit, since I want to get other things off my wishlist (Sauropelta, Parasaurolophus, and a few others), and I have to save up again. I also want to wait until more are revealed, such as the ceratopsian, and the Ankylosaurus, before I order it, so I can order them alongside it.

I wish I have kept the plastic tray, I kept some of them but couldn't find the Tyrannosaurus one.
I'm very excited for the ceratopsian, the Safari ones are great always.
