Just a V-rex rip-off...

Seems to be in the same class as the recent JP inspired Raptors. Nothing wrong with that, catering to the fanboys among the dinosaur aficionados. B

Heck, there's plenty of excellent T-Rexes out there, but less than a handful of decent V-Rexes for the Kong lovers. And none of those are particularly affordable.

But yeah, they should not call it a T-Rex with a look like this.

Fenestra

The scales on this model look very tedious and repetitious.
I noticed this on the Carnotaurus as well.
Previous Rebor models seem to be far more detailed, softer even, and look more "alive" to me.
Did they go from handsculpting to computer generated modeling or something?

It is still a prototype, but honestly I would like more than to be surprised with the deinosuchus and sarcosuchus whose production has paralyzed. Even his titanoboa.

My greatest wish, which unfortunately is not shared by Rebor, is that the tyrannosaurus figure was not articulated, at least in the worst case that only his jaw was articulated but not his arms and unless they were removable. Although for my part is to advance events. We will have to see the finished and painted figure and then we can give our opinion.

It does not stop being a Vastatosaurus rex from the Island the Skull, but sincerely bores me that they only do terópodos and in a certain way in the best of the cases predators.

Rebor needs herbivores taking into account the philosophy and characteristics of that company. One thing I would like from a company like Rebor, to stop making models of prehistoric animals overly articulated and with removable members. I say this from experience because, unfortunately, the deinonychus of the same brand, the "Clan Cerberus" have given me their arms and they also have sustainability problems.

From my point of view or taste for the figures of toy dinosaurs is to spoil a figure with so many articulated parts and what is worse removable, I respect the philosophy of Rebor but I do not share it although I am a collector and buyer of most of its figures.

Patrx

Wow, that's disorienting. It reminds me of those "magic eye" posters.

Didn't Kong's "Vastatosaurus" have three manual digits?

BlueKrono

Wow, can the Jackson and the King Kong like, sue them or something? That seriously looks like the CGI model used by the animators for that movie.

Once again REBOR makes it painfully clear that they really don't care about dinosaurs.

And yeah, someone at Universal or Weta ought to be sending them a COD, because this reeks of intellectual property theft.

Also . . . "Vanilla Ice"? Why? Is that supposed to be some kind of joke? Are they going to name future products after other washed up pop stars? What's next, a Giganotosaurus named Debbe Gibson?

Ah...clearly their actual plans have nothing to do with actual dinosaurs or prehistoric life. They have apparently found a very enthusiastic pop culture fan base. Having lost all hope that they might actually produce "museum quality" pieces, I'm certainly not among them ::) Disappointing, but not surprising. I'll say nothing about them ever again.
"You can have all the dinosaurs you want my love, providing we have enough space"

Shadowknight1

Disappointing.  The first T-rex was a pass because of the Jurassic Park styling.  This one's a pass because it's not a Tyrannosaurus rex.  And unlike Papo's running T-rex, this doesn't have misaligned teeth or scars that could be construed as battle damage.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Flaffy

Ah good old Rebor, ripping off designs from movies as usual.
I'm very surprised how they still haven't gotten a lawsuit yet.

Faelrin

I'm not really interested in this one, for the same reason I don't like the papo running one. The V. rex head just never appealed to me much.

Taken from REBOR's Facebook page:

QuoteHe's the rex we collectors deserve, but not the one we need right now. So people will criticise him. Because he has to take it. Because he's not our scientifically accurate dinosaur. He's a silent paleoart. A watchful predator. A true awesomebro.

And really, what more needs to be said?

Can't wait for ''Peter'', their new ''Large gorilla'' sculpt.

The Atroxious

Dat gastrocnemius doe. I think someone took all the abdominal muscle this guy would have had, and transplanted it onto the calf.

Shonisaurus

I like the Rebor figures but I am not as passionate as other companies and I wish not to offend any follower, but on the facebook page of Rebor announced that said figure was based on the vastatosaurus rex, therefore I break a spear in favor of said company, at least they have not said that it is a paleoartistic figure but more of the range of fiction films.

Surely they'll call it MC Hammer if this one is Vanilla Ice?

Is it just or do rebors scales on their most recent models look really bad. They look like the figure was mold and then stamped with one, uniform pattern. Also, the pose is a bit boring, quite conservative for a company that's so notoriously awesomebro. I agree with others in this thread, this is very much a blatant rip off of that 8 hour long King Kong movie's design. Even more so than the JP inspired stuff they've done. Atleast the rex only borrowed key features, and the the velociraptors were maybe a bit too obvious, those were atleast based on existing animals, not designed as a fictional character.
