I'm a huge admirer of the Studio Ghibli movies, more precisely the ones directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
I'm soo happy to read that against all odds there's another movie coming up made by him :D :D .

I also collect Ghibli figures from Miyazaki movies - only the ones made by Cominica, which is the only company that was given
Miyazaki's blessing. Fortunately there aren't too many models I really like and also fortunately I bought them a few years ago,
because some of them got pretty expensive nowadays.

I wonder if there are any other Ghibli fans within the DTF community and I'm curious about to see what they have to show :) .

Blade-of-the-Moon

I have almost every film I think..I still need to get Poppy Hill and Marnie.   I actually had the San figure but sold it a few years back.  Was that actually Moro? I thought she was bigger?  Maybe one of her sons?

I do still have a wallscroll I think the closet from Mononoke...come to think of it..

The figure has always been sold under that name, but you're right.
Not only would Moro be bigger, she also has two tails. Her sons only have one each.
So this must be one of her sons. I have changed the title.

I just know three of their or in this case his movies.... Princess Mononoke, Chihiro (Spirited Away) and My Neighbor Totorro, the last one I just learned about few weeks ago when we lend it from the local library to have a movie evening with our son who just turned 4 years. We all three loved the movie and our son's especially hooked up with Totorro, the Cat Bus and the two girl characters.

Despite my love for the old animated series for Western TV that are made by the several Japanese studios (like Captain Future, Maja, Heidi etc.) I never really warmed to "Anime" in general or dug deep to get the best out of them, but Princess Mononoke, Chihiro and Jin Roh (I know, other makers) are movies that I found of great interest and importance. However, I never really was interested in any figurines or models accompanying those movies.

That however shall not diminish the glory of the figures shown above.... great sculpts , pretty paint jobs and great photos as usual ... I bet they are worth a fortune nowadays :)

Don't know anything about it, but the wolf looks pretty cool. Are these resin models?

Love most of the movies...probably wouldn't get into the statues, just for budget reasons!

But my daughter continues to add to her Kiki's delivery Service and Totoro memorabilia whenever she can.

And yes...I enjoy discussing the really dark background of Totoro with people...my kids know, they accept it.

No, they're made of some hard but flexible plastic, the bases are pretty stiff though.

You have to watch Howl's Moving Castle (Das wandelnde Schloss)! I ensure you'll love it ^-^ .
With your son you should also watch Kiki's Delivery Service (Kikis kleiner Lieferservice). So far every kid I know loves it.

I also watched the Heidi series in the 70s :). By the way this was the beginning of the cooperation of  Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki (the two founders of Studio Ghibli) in 1974. Miyazaki was responsible for Scene Design and Scene Organization.

Thanks for the tip, gonna check those out ;)

Mini Minmi

I second Howl's moving castle, I really enjoyed that one. I think my favorite is Spirited away. I watched The cat returns recently with my sweetheart and we had a good time.

Few days ago on 5th of April, Isao Takahata, one of Studio Ghibli's founders passed away.

IrritatorRaji

That's tragic. The legacy he helped leave behind was amazing, and I hope he rests peacefully.

I just Recently Dove into these films, Starting with the ones Directed by Hayao Miyazaki.   I Found out to not start with Spirited away, so i started with Kikis Delivery Service, which is a film i saw the Trailer for as a Kid.

So far i Have (In the Order Which i Boght them in)

Kikis Delivery Service
Princess Mononoke(My Favorite Film of his so far)
Howls Moveing Castle
Spirited Away (I have not Watched this one yet)
Castle in the Sky(I have not Watched this one either, but I heard its one of David Krentz Favorite Films)
Nausica: Valley of the Wind (my second Favorite film of his)
I Recently Boght My Neighbor Totoro, and I will watch it soon.
And I have Ponyo in Transit Via Amazon.

Honestly,  The one I truly Love the most is Princess Mononoke, So Much that i imagine a simaler Chrector Rideing A Utahraptor instead of a Wolf.

I absoluty am in Love with This Movie, But i will admit, i need to give the others more veiwings

Great selection! But I must say that you can't go wrong with any of Miyazaki's movies - because they're all simply great.

Princess Mononoke was the first Ghibli movie I saw at the cinema in 2000. Of course it took the German cinemas three years to show it,
but it didn't matter because I hadn't known anything about these movies. The last thing I remembered back then was Akira.
I was positively shocked how good Mononoke was. A few years later Spirited Away blew me away! Since then I consider me a fan
and have been collecting every snippet of movie Hayao san is involved in, in any way - Director, Screenplay, Storyboards, Producer,
Original Story writer, Screenplay, Character Design, Teleplay, Mechanical Design, Key Animation, Concept, Art Design,
Scene Design & Scene Organization, Key Animation. His career started in 1965. I love everything he did.

Of course actually the first time I got in contact with Miyazaki's work was as a kid in 1974 watching the Heidi TV series :).
Miyazaki was responsible for Scene Design & Scene Organization. Director was Isao Takahata.
These two men then established the Studio Ghibli in 1985. Laputa: Castle in the Sky was the first movie.
Some think Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind was the first one, but it is actually the last Pre-Ghibli Film by Miyazaki,
a joint production of Tokuma Shoten and Hakuhoudou.

Two main characters from the 1979 TV series Anne of Green Gables - Akage no An / 赤毛のアン

                                                                                                  ^-^
Kaiyodo / Horico - Anne Mini Vignette Collection from 2004
                                                              No.3 Diana, "a bosom friend"  &  No.4 Picnic

Not Ghibli figures this time, but from pre-Ghibli Studio "World Masterpiece Theater" (Sekai Meisaku Gekijou) where Miyazaki and Takahata started
building up their amazing careers. Miyazaki was responsible for scene design & scene organization in episodes #1-15 (in case someone is interested).
I grew up with these TV series in the early to mid 70s and couldn't resist when I saw these two terribly well made miniatures of
"Diana and Anne having a wonderful time eating hand-made ice cream".

                                                                             .......for size comparison ;D
