Phymolepis cuifengshanensis from the Early Devonian of China gets some endocranial material as well as more of the armor than was previously known.

Good to see placoderms getting some attention!  Those forward facing eyes are a bit unnerving though... I feel like it should have a muppet mouth!

I think the eyes on the reconstruction make it look like quite the friendly fellow. Pretty good discovery though.

It's mouth really was a little muppet-like, to my eye!

To me, the eyes look vaguely like those of tadpole shrimp. I personally find them cute on both this creature and on the tadpole shrimp.
