I think that its less tongue-twisting to use the British version:

One Tyranosaur

Two Tyrannosaurs

A pack of rampaging Tyrannosaurs

amargasaurus cazaui

so...."big ugly honking mean dinosaur with gnarly teeth" doesnt work?
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

Wait...so saying "Tyrannosaur" is the British way? How do you know? :o

Yes but when you say "rampaging tyrannosaurs" it implies that there are more than one species of tyrannosaur, not more than one individual Tyrannosaurus. Right?

I think it all depends on context. If we knew we were talking about just one species, then I think it's perfectly acceptable.

Just watch WWD (the UK version with Kenneth Brannagh narrating)

I do watch the UK version, I am English myself.

Well, he clearly states "Allosaurs, Torosaurs, etc..."  That is the way I have always seen it said in any UK-sourced article/film, while in America the "u" is added before the "s".

Patrx

I'd always assumed that was not really a matter of locale. Tyrannosaurus, is a particular genus; but "tyrannosaur" indicates any tyrannosaurid. I imagine it's just easier to clearly pluralize the less specific words in spoken dialogue, regardless of accent. As for written articles, I can't say I've encountered any trend like the one you mentioned.

This is fine, but so is saying the generic name of the animal to refer to multiples. Say 'three Allosaurus' and people will know which genus you are referring to; 'three allosaurs' is much more vague, as an allosaur can be any animal in the Allosauroidea. However, if it is obvious that you are referring to a particular animal in a certain context, eg. a toy review, then 'allosaurs' would be fine.

A brief but concise review I think. I too tend to get these weird dinos like Imperial just for sake of completeness.

He is very similar to Invicta T-Rex from my point of view ^-^. Good review  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

I bet Gold Wolf is a he. By the way he writes stuff seems to be a he. Haha, funny situation there, I won't say he's right nor wrong. But guess work is kind of a constant in paleontology, I don't get it why people only want visual proof. If everyone had the same thinking and painted/sculpted only what is really proven we would not even have paleoart!

Golden Wolf is an AMAZING artist and is friends with my boss, but I'm really curious whether or not the person posting is actually Golden Wolf, or just someone using her name. (Golden Wolf is a she)
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!
