Who makes the best Woolly Mammoth?

Papo maybe?

Halichoeres

My personal favorite is the one from Safari's Carnegie Collection: http://toyanimal.info//index.php?title=Safari_404201_Woolly_Mammoth

The EoFauna steppe mammoth is probably nicer, but of course it's a steppe mammoth rather than a woolly mammoth.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

I agree with the Carnegie mammoth being the best toy mammoth. It's very detailed and accurate.

If you're willing to spend a little more, the Paleocraft mammoth is a very good sculpt as well.

I'm also a fan of the Carnegie mammoth. Not only one of the best mammoths ever made but one of the best Carnegie models too.

Shonisaurus

Like mammoth primigenius the best mammoth is undoubtedly that of Carnegie.

Like mammoth trogontherii the best mammoth is undoubtedly that of Eofauna.

As an americanum mastodon (although that is not a mammoth although it is called an americanum mammoth), it is Doug Watson's Safari.

Another vote, from my corner, for the Carnegie Mammoth - sharply superior to the Papo one (which is by no means bad).

The EoFauna one is my favourite by far.

PhilSauria

For my money I'd give equal points to both the Carnegie and Eofauna Mammoths - best in the herd at this point in time.

Wait, have EoFauna actually done a PVC woolly mammoth yet?

PhilSauria

Yeah, correct - not a Woolly as such but sits at the front of my herd just the same.

It did not make a primigenius Eofauna mammoth but a close relative the mammoth trogontherii, I know it is not the woolly mammoth but it is a relative of this one.

What I was referring to is that the best woolly mammoth or mammoth primigenius that is what the thread is about is that of Safari, but as far as the other species of mammoth, ie the mammoth trogontherii, the best of all is that of Eofauna comparing it with Papo's, for example.

Eofauna has not made a woolly mammoth (mammoth primigenius) I repeat but a mammoth trogontherii relative belongs to the mammoth family.

Thanks Robin. Do you have a favourite among your models?

Thank you again for your collection. I wouldn't have a bunch of the pieces I have today without your wonderful cataloging.

Eofauna. Also, if you are looking for the best Mastodon, try Wild Safari.

Papo's Mammoth is actually pretty mediocre. And the Papo Mammoth cubs are the worst. The worst.

dragon53

Thanks for the info. It helps a lot.

No quibbling with your comments, but I will note that the long-discontinued Papo Steppe Mammoth (with woolly fur but clearly a Steppe Mammoth nonetheless) was a pretty accurate figure back in its day ... not in the Eofauna class, but still pretty nice ...

... as for Woolly Mammoth figures, my vote goes to the iconic Carnegie Woolly Mammoth, which to me is also the finest prehistoric figure Carnegie ever made...

It's probably a tie between the Carnegie Mammoth and the Eofauna Steppe Mammoth. Since they are two separate species of Mammoth, it is best to pick them both up. The Carnegie Mammoth is one of the handful of Carnegies that I own. I also have the WS Mammoth. It is okay with a bit of a vintage feel but the legs look like tree stumps.

I have the Palaeoloxodon preordered (It is in the Pile of Loot for BBTS). I should probably order the Eofauna as well as a companion piece. I am eagerly waiting a shelf full of glorious Eofauna exotic elephants!
