THE DINOSAUR FARM
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This is an awesome little store located in South Pasadena, Los Angeles.
Dave, the owner of the store is very passionate about providing the figures that his community desires, and always seeks to please.
Not too much about Paleo-Talk, but always interested in learning, Dave has been keeping this shop going for as long as it has been around.

This is an appreciation post for a little humble store that has some awesome choices all year round.
I will be posting my hauls from this store specifically here, as they, from time to time, have fantastic stuff.

Finally picked up a Papo Quetzalcoatlus. Absolutely beautiful and monstrous sculpt. The muscle detailing all over the body is amazing.

The Mojo's were a huge disappointment, as anticipated.

How much is he selling a papo ceratosaurus For? Any discounts? Would love to have a store like that near me. All I have for local papos is the annual Jurassic quest convention every year

ceratopsian

You are so lucky to have a store you can visit in person and browse to your heart's content!  All we see in our local general toy shops are Schleich.  I wish the owner every success.

Ravonium

I cannot tell you how much I would long for a store like that near me. I do have a store that sells Papo near me, but even that is about an hour's drive away (and ever since ToysRUs closed, it is the only store near me that I know of that sells any brand other than Schleich).

I have never seen Safari Ltd sold in a physical store, and I have only seen fragmentary selections of CollectA.

John

It has been a long time since I have seen anything like these in a physical store actually out on shelves!Even the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum gift shop stopped carrying anything more high end than dollar store Wal Mart bin type toys a decade ago now!
I've ordered from the Dinosaur Farm online many times over the years.Nice to see them still going strong. :)
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

It would be great to have a store like that near me hehe. On another topic I didn't knew there was a change on the paintjob of Safari's Nasutoceratops, it can be seen in one photo.

Fembrogon

The Dinosaur Farm was one of the first shops I started "following" when I began exploring online more as a teen. I don't recall if I actually ordered from them more than once, but it's great that a shop like this continues to exist, and even thrive.

Good to hear. And they aren't exclusively dinosaurs, but they do make up a large portion of the shop. But I love that they are introducing the younger generation to these creatures in a non-pop perspective.

I felt the same when I was not living in the area. Now it's a quick ride on the metro.

Glad to hear! It really is nice to see the model before buying it. I have long been ordering online, but no longer if I can help it!!!

avatar_John @John Where did you see a similar collection of models for sale? This is the largest I've seen, and even then, it's pretty small.
Still going strong, and if not, I will continue to support it until it gets back on its feet! But at the rate the models are depleted, it seems to have a pretty dedicated base of supporters.

avatar_Ravonium @Ravonium Michael's Crafts Store is now selling some of the newer stuff, if there is one near you. I remember seeing a Vagaceratops last time I was in one.
Papo is great! At least you've got some quality access.  ^-^

I know! It's been amazing! I'm aware of how rare this is and it's such a treat every time I go.
There really is nothing like actually feeling the model in-hand.

S @Syndicate Bias there wasn't one out on the shelves from what I saw, but he did mention having a solid storage of dinosaurs under the store that is about the size of the store itself.
I'd love to see the treasure trove that is down there.

It was in the gift shop at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum in the 1990's when they would have shelves full of what was available at that time. They would always keep up with the then newest releases of all available lines including Invicta's British Museum line, then the Carnegie and eventually even Battat as well as Ral Partha Pewter,Tamaiya's dinosaur diorama kits, and unsurprisingly, the Tyco Smithsonian line made up of former Dino Riders toys. But as of the early 2000's this was no longer the case. There were sporadic new releases for a while, but nothing like it used to be.It got much worse when the museum closed down the dinosaur hall for a five year renovation in 2014.

I'd become six years old in this little shop!  I wish I had a store like this around!  I am looking forward to seeing more pictures!

At least you have toy shops in your town that even sell branded dinosaur toys. In my town, all the toy shops that sold branded dinosaur toys (yes, even the ones that just sold Schleich) have closed down.

Although, to be fair on my wider surrounding area, I do live near 2 fairly big cities, so I might have some luck exploring the backstreets of those.

I don't live in North America, so no Michael's for me, unfortunately  :( , although thanks for the compliment about the selection I have near me.

Cretaceous Crab

I can just hear "Pure Imagination" playing in my head as I fantasize walking through this store.

Sucho-Matty-mus

about a 3 hour drive south of me. So next time I find myself in LA area, going to have to find this shop!

UPDATE : 180818

Picked up these awesome one's today!

Started my Quetzalcoatlus variances, in anticipation for, of course, the Papo Quetzal.

Had to grab the Postosuchus because of Doug's new Presto coming onto the market next year!
This is dangerous, I might begin looking for gators. Wallet doesn't need another reason to be burned.

And last but certainly not least, the 2017 Safari Giganotosaurus! Rough paint-job but overall a good sculpt.

UPDATE : 180824

Updated images above!

Got the Papo Therizinosaurus with the new shipment!

Why can't the UK have places like this? :P

avatar_IrritatorRaji @IrritatorRaji Are you sure there are none? Even in the Natural History Museum?

avatar_Sucho-Matty-mus @Sucho-Matty-mus Totally worth it! Though I would call ahead of time to see if they received a shipment recently. Their dinosaurs go FAST.
If it has been received in the same week of the visit, I definitely recommend taking a trip down and enjoying yourself.
Also, if they don't have something, you can always ask them to look underground for it.

laticauda

I wish there were more stores like this.  I have ordered some figures from the online store but it is always nice to see the toys in person.
