Quote from: Primeval12 on August 13, 2024, 04:44:33 PMavatar_Sim @Sim  can you add the figures for the ITV series Primeval to the list at some point?
I don't know how to add a new company.  If I recall right avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin added GR Toys but wasn't able to add the Deinocheirus under that brand.  I also don't know all the Primeval figures released..

Ok no problem. if you are able to figure it out, I can get the details of all the figures and images for you from the Primeval Wiki.

avatar_Sim @Sim I can add the company page (though I don't know how to give it an image) later today. I didn't know at the time for those, but figured out how for the Captivz figures.

I'll make an edit and explain how to do it for future reference too.

avatar_Primeval12 @Primeval12 I had planned to add these, but like many other figutes, I've been quite behind on it. If avatar_Sim @Sim wants to tackle them, I'd greatly appreciate it too.

I believe there's another website out there that can serve as an additional resource that I've used in the past for those. But that wiki was surprisingly helpful too from what I recall.

Edit: Okay so there's a tab on this link called Company Info. All you need to do is Add New, and then go back to the products tab and add the figures. I would recommend at least adding one figure from the product page before using the import just in case something goes wrong (though I don't see why it would).

Here's also the other website with info and images, in case it would be of help:

Edit 2: Company page is up now for Character Options, the company behind those figures.

Concavenator

Thank you everyone for your work on the site, it's appreciated!

In addition to TNG's Sinosauropteryx and Smilodon, I have another suggestion. Since avatar_Doug Watson @Doug Watson told us the inspiration behind his Utahraptor's and Austroraptor's color scheme (peregrine falcon and blue pitta, respectively), I think it would be interesting to have that info appear with the figures on the site, as is the case with the BotM stuff.

Sim

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator, it's a nice idea to add the colour inspirations!  Doug also said that the 2017 Safari Velociraptor's colouration was inspired by the ferruginous hawk.  I don't think I'm currently able to add that information as the spreadsheets for importing data to the site don't have an option for that type of comment...

avatar_Primeval12 @Primeval12, avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, thanks for your assistance.  I'm currently adding missing Kaiyodo figures to the dinotoycollector site.  I might be able to add the Primeval figures after I finish with Kaiyodo.

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator Thanks for the reminder for the TNG stuff. I kind of took a break from finishing the image cleanup, but I ought to just get them both up. Can add the image whenever afterwards. I can make edits for those as well. I think I remember Doug sharing what the Velociraptor and Deinonychus were based on as well, but it would be a lot of digging to find those. Now that we know he was the sculptor for the Austroraptor, I'll also add that detail too.

Okay I was just about to post this, but thanks for the info for the Velociraptor avatar_Sim @Sim I'll be sure to add that as well.

Also if there's ever any older figures you want to edit Sim, you can just go to the product page, and there's a little pencil icon. You just click that, it will open the entry up, and if you scroll down, there's a box called info that you can fill in. You can also change anything else if need be.

Edit: I got the TNG figures up, and the color info for those Safari figures added. Had to watch my niece throughout it, but anyways, I will be adding the images for those figures too. I actually found a really good high res image on Amazon for the Sinosauropteryx, so that saves me the trouble of finishing the cleanup on that one image I was doing.

Thanks for that avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, but when I get the box that comes up when I click the pencil icon, there isn't an "info" box.  Perhaps avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector hasn't enabled that option for me.

Faelrin

So you don't see anything like this then (with the little pencil and other options to the side)?

That's weird. I would have thought that would have been available to you.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin avatar_Sim @Sim Thank you for your work!  :)

I didn't know Doug had also shared his color scheme inspirations for his Velociraptor and Deinonychus. Well, I've tried searching for his inspiration for the Deinonychus' color scheme, but I haven't found it. So I'm tagging avatar_Doug Watson @Doug Watson here in case he wouldn't mind sharing it.

However, I've found he used the golden tegu's (Tupinambis nigropunctatus) color scheme as inspiration for his Tylosaurus', here.

I think PNSO's Museum Line Stegosaurus entry could be updated as well to reflect that it got a (very slightly) modified color scheme, as that info also appears for the PNSO 2019 Ankylosaurus. For those who are not familiar, this is what I'm talking about.

In addition to the figure's color scheme's inspirations being added to the site, I think another pretty valuable piece of information to add to the site would be the inspiration for the figures themselves: what specimen/s they are based off, or if they're modelled after a certain skeletal, etc. As of right now, some of us members get to know about this (important, I would say) information by following discussions, etc. But I think it would be very neat to have that info up on the site too, for other collectors who may not actively engage in discussions online, etc, and for several reasons: there could be collectors who may have a preference for a particular individual among a species' hypodigm. Or collectors who, out of said hypodigm, may want to have a figure of the most complete individual, or just who would be interested in knowing their figures are based on a certain specimen, etc. There could be many reasons, really. So I'm including here a small list of figures at the top off my head I know that are based (or may be based) on specific individuals/skeletals.

- BotM Velociraptor mongoliensis (it appears as if the V. osmolskae uses the same sculpt?): seems to be based on Hartman's 2013 skeletal.
- BotM Stegosaurus (for when it is eventually added to the site): Matt Dempsey's 2021 skeletals (appears to be based on the holotype, in particular).
- CollectA's 2022 Spinosaurus: appears to be based on the skeletal featured in Ibrahim et al. 2020.
- Eofauna's Tyrannosaurus: FMNH PR 2081 "Sue".
- Eofauna's Diplodocus: CM 84 (part of "Dippy") & USNM 10865.
- Eofauna's (alleged; as it's not clear whether the individuals the figure is based on are actually Triceratops) Triceratops: MOR 3027 "Yoshi's Trike" & UCMP 128561.
- Haolonggood's Carcharodontosaurus: Franoys' 2018 skeletal.
- PNSO's Allosaurus "Paul": MOR 693 "Big Al".
- PNSO's Styracosaurus: AMNH 5372.
- PNSO's Edmontosaurus: BHI 126416.
- PNSO's Dacentrurus (Miragaia) "Rosana": Ashley Patch's 2019 skeletal.
- PNSO's Stegosaurus "Bieber" (Museum Line): USNM 4934.
- PNSO's Gorgosaurus: ROM 1247.
- PNSO's Pachyrhinosaurus "Brian": TMP 86.55.258.
- PNSO's Tyrannosaurus "Cameron": FMNH PR 2081 "Sue".
- PNSO's Tyrannosaurus "Winter Wilson": AMNH 5027.
- PNSO's Triceratops "Doyle" (2021): AMNH 5116.
- PNSO's Ankylosaurus "Sede": Arbour & Mallon's 2017 skeletal.
- PNSO's Parasaurolophus: ROM 768.
- PNSO's Yangchuanosaurus "Dayong" (2023): CV 00215.
- PNSO's Yangchuanosaurus "Dapeng": CV 00216.
- PNSO's so-called "Sinopliosaurus": appears to be based on the Suchomimus skeletal featured in Fabbri et al. 2022.
- Safari's Carnegie Tyrannosaurus (2014): CM 9380.
- Safari's Concavenator (2020): Ortega et al. 2010 & Cuesta et al. 2018 (this one for the skull).
- Safari's Utahraptor (2023): Hartman's 2017 skeletal and BYU skeletal mount.
- Safari's Tyrannosaurus (2017): FMNH PR 2081 "Sue".
- Safari's Stegosaurus (2019): NHMUK PV R36730 "Sophie".
- Safari's Megalosaurus: Hartman's and Folkes' (for the skull) skeletals.
- Safari's Baryonyx (2021): Based on Charig & Milner's 1987 and Hartman's 2018 skeletals.
- Safari's Ankylosaurus (2018): Carpenter's 2004 skeletal.
- Vitae's Giganotosaurus: Hartman's skeletal.
- Vitae's Majungasaurus: Hartman's 2012 skeletal.
- Vitae's Zhejiangosaurus: Paul's Gastonia skeletal.
- W-Dragon's Tyrannosaurus (2023): BHI 3033 "Stan".

I don't have time right now to narrow the individual sources behind my statements for each figure, but said sources are taken from either:

- BotM: info shared by Creative Beast Studio on their social media.

- CollectA: personal observation.

- Eofauna: info shared by Eofauna on their social media, or through extras included with their figures (which can be seen on reviews, etc).

- Haolonggood: Carcharodontosaurus review by L @Leyster .

- PNSO: PNSO's videos or IDs by Paleo-Nerd (also tagging L @Leyster and avatar_Mattyonyx @Mattyonyx here).

- Safari: posts by avatar_Doug Watson @Doug Watson or S @Shane for the Wild Safari figures. And L @Leyster 's ID for the Carnegie Tyrannosaurus.

- Vitae: As observed by L @Leyster .

- W-Dragon: as advertised by W-Dragon themselves.

avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector avatar_spinosaurus1 @spinosaurus1 it would be interesting if you could share your inspiration behind Wild Past's figures too!

As for my list, I'm sure I'm missing more, so feel free to bring up more inspiration behind certain figures if you know about them! And please, feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong. But hopefully this post could serve as a summarised and convenient starting point.

Quote from: Sim on August 13, 2024, 04:28:03 PMI've added all the Kabaya figures I know of to the dinotoycollector site.  There was a small bug where some of the entries have the sculptor name listed twice, avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector is aware of it.  I was surprised to see the Kabaya figures already on the site mostly had a rating of 1 star.  They're not so bad!

Um, excuse me, where are the 45 regular sets and couple of dozen special sets of Kabaya Hone Hone Zaurus???   ;)

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, that's interesting, what I get is quite different:

Notice also the arrangement of entries in the background is different.  I don't get an option to change the page for the category I've got in front of me, so to find entries beyond the ones showed when I select a company I need to search for them.

Faelrin

Huh that is weird. That's quite a lot missing. Granted the one I have access to doesn't have the period box. I wonder why?

Oh I wasn't aware those were by Kabaya!  They appear quite a step back from their Dinosaur Collection figures!  I won't be adding them, someone else can if they want to, I find those figures horrible.

Sim

I've found out that on the editor page I have access to, there is the option to move between pages, it was hidden behind a cookies info message!  That makes things easier!

Sim

I recall someone mentioning that the Kaiyodo Dino expo mosasaur should be changed to not represent Mosasaurus, supported by its name plate saying it's an undetermined species of mosasaur.  However, it turns out it was actually identified as Mosasaurus when it was sold again after the expo.  It's shown at the bottom of this page: https://ninjaaquarium.web.fc2.com/kaiyodo_Capsule/kyoryuhaku2019/index.html

DinoToyCollector has expanded the categories I can edit, including the info section!  I've added some info to several Kaiyodo figures.

Torvosaurus

Quote from: Torvosaurus on February 21, 2024, 06:31:21 AMHi.

I added myself and collection to your site. Well done; I can't begin to imagine how much work that was.

So my issue is, I have less than half my collection listed. The majority of my collection is gaming miniatures, such as those made by HLBS, DeeZee, Ral Partha, etc. Could you add these to your site? There are a fair number of models/toys among these companies.

There is a pretty good list on line. If you're interested.

Torvo

Hi, avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin . Is there any hope of adding these?

Torvo

Faelrin

Sorry for the lack of response earlier. I might be able to but it also might be a lot of work, and I might be slow with it. If you could send me info that would be a good start.

I'll go through the list, add other critters and take out the fanciful ones, then I'll send it to you. I can ask a couple of folks I know about photos and I can get you pictures on a lot of them that don't have pics. It probably won't happen for another month or so. Wife keeps me busy through the summer.

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator there are also Vitae Giganotosaurus and Zhejiangosaurus, which are respectively based upon Hartman's and Paul's skeletals.
