What is the Value Thread

Blade-of-the-Moon

Been selling a  few items and noticed I had no frame of reference for the value of many of them, I hope to use this thread for myself and others to get some idea of what a piece is worth.

First up is a couple Bullyland pieces I have,  Liliensternus and Plateosaurus, good condition, no tags.

So what do you think?

Roselaar

I don't think there are any easily fixed prices for any dinosaur toys, except high franchise action figures (Dino Riders, JP) and maybe Invicta. But based on what I've seen Bullyland Liliensternus is worth around 20-25 euros, Plateosaurus 15-20. Still a bit of a guess...

CityRaptor

I've see them selling for less on German eBay. Of course it all depends on the country one is in. What is rare and sought after in one, might be common and mostly ignored in another.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Blade-of-the-Moon

There isn't fixed prices at all really , so I expect something listed here now would change in  a year or so. Supply and demand and all that.  The older an item though it sort of levels out.

Right CityRaptor,  I recall that being true of the old WWD figures. Normally I check ebay for prices I see what something has ended for on several occasions, figure my costs and then set a price.

So, this is just the thread I needed! Clever idea.

I recently acquired the Planeta De Agostini Dinosaurs from ARgentina, a quest that left me with a few (12) doubles in my collection. I don't need two of each figure, and would consider selling them. But I'm not sure how much to ask for each one.

These are rather hard to come by, since I have started collecting from overseas, in 2008, I only saw those for sale a couple of times. But since they are on the smallish side and are outdated funky looking dinos, they probably wouldn't be as valuable to most people.

I don't want to sell them too cheap, I got these a few years back (2014 to  be exact) from a member in DTF and I paid exactly 13.75 dollars each (checked my e-mails and that was the amount, not considering import taxes).

So, to me,  I feel it's only fair to sell these for at least 15-20 a piece, not including shipping. They are, after all, hard to find, exclusively distributed in a single country as far as I can tell and are generally in good condition, apart from a few paint rubs here and there in some of them.

So, I want you guys to give me your opinion. Do you think the price I want to sell them for is fair? Did I overpay when I got them?

I don't know what the worth of any of these figures is. The questions and discussions remind me at a talk I had with my guitar dealer the other day on the value of certain guitars.  He said the value depends on what one asks for and if this is what the other one wants to pay... I personally would not pay 15 or 20 a piece for the figures of the DeAgostini collection but 5 to 10. But If you find someone willing to pay more,  fine,  go ahead.

That's true. Value depends totally on demand. A figure that sells for $100 one day may not sell for $5 the next if only one person was in the market for it. The best way to gauge value is to search "completed" listings on eBay. This will tell you how many figures sold recently and for what price range, as well as how many listings ended without any interest.

Thanks avatar_Libraraptor @Libraraptor and D @Dinoguy2 for the help. I suppose you are right, there's not an absolute way to price the models. I guess I'll stick with them for a while, maybe list a couple on eBay to see what happens.

Do you know what species are these figures? And you could offer these figures here in the Classified section. You can offer these even for trade not just for sale

I've got an original Battat Carnotaurus I'm thinking about selling. Does any one know it's value?

JMO, and I have virtually all (except the Diplo), and multiples of most, I'd pay $30-50, depending on condition, more if in original packaging. You might get somewhat more in an auction.

I don't know what the prices are for these things, as I do not traffic in foreign countries. HOWEVER, I AM missing that ceratopsian. I too would like to finish off my Planeta DeAgostini collection at some point.

Speaking of which, I have these Disney's Dinosaur Panini plastic figures somewhere. I ought to get them out and show them to you because I have no idea what they are or where they came from. I may have the full collection, and I want to sell them as I have no space for them.

Ikkesauro - It certainly sounds like you overpaid for those, especially if you bought the whole lot at that price point. I'd be interested in the Ouranosaurus if you're selling though.

Emperordinobot - I'd be interested in seeing the Disneys.

I don't know, that seems pretty reasonable given that there seem to be very few of these around. They're obviously not as sought-after as Battats, but they're almost certainly much rarer.

Hello everyone! A good friend of mine recently found a complete Carnegie mountain in one of the backrooms of his museum and asked if I knew anything about how much one of those went for. I told him I would ask around and I thought this thread would come in handy. Thoughts?

Halichoeres

When you say complete do you mean it has all the figures attached? I think that would go for a few hundred dollars, depending on how the figures look and which specific ones are included. The mountain by itself could probably fetch a hundred or so. Either way it would be very expensive to ship. I sold an empty Carnegie mountain a few years ago and the cheapest shipping (within the US) was around 70 dollars.

I suspect you'd probably be able to get more money for an empty mountain than for one with the figures glued on. People like to use them to arrange and display their collections. I've seen some mountains on eBay with dinosaurs attached, asking prices between $200 and $300, but I'm not sure if any of them sold. Empty mountains seem to be listed for less but I think they sell, just have to price it high enough to counteract the enormous shipping cost.

Can anyone give me an idea of the value of the 2012 Carnegie Brachiosaurus?
