And by the way are two Atopodentatus made by the same company enough to keep on the list?

Need to see pics to see how different they are.

Thanks for the pics, I'll add them straightaway. I'm sure Jetoar won't mind, he seems determined to make me keep adding creatures to the USL. :)

I'm gonna hold off re-adding the Mesosaurus until I know for a fact that it exists. I'm not fond of posting species without pictures backing them up anyway, and this case proves why.

I'll add Leedsichthys along with the other new Collectabeasts soon. Anyone got good individual pictures of these?

You're welcome to the photos I used for the review: http://dinotoyblog.com/2017/07/18/prehistoric-marine-tube-collecta/

Excellent! Precisely the sort of pics I was hoping for. :)

If things go well, Leedischthys should be off the list soon!

Oh, thank God, they're not mass produced... I never intended this list for one-off models, only models that are (or were) generally available. It's pretty harsh for a collector to find out a model of his favorite obscure species exists but cannot be purchased, after all. Of course, you can debate on the level of availability, but models which are only produced once simply do not count by my book.

Which saves me a lot of work in this case. :)

That said, my question earlier this week still stands: are Collecta's Baculites, Diplomoceras, Australiceras and Parapuzosia unique species?

I'm almost certain they are, and I would say so is Leedsichthys, unless we're counting the FaunaCasts version that never got distributed.

Didn't it?  ;)

Sorry, what? Did I miss something about a new Leedsichthys figure?

I think he's slyly hinting that the FaunaCasts Leedsichthys pre-orders from five years ago may finally be fulfilled soon.

Funny, I missed both this news and the news from five years ago that they existed (or were supposed to, at least).

I'm hoping that's what I mean...I'll find out tomorrow!

And it was also referred to as Malcolm Mlodoch's Leedsichthys figure--it has been discussed in this thread elsewhere. It was made available, but various cirumstances have meant that those of us that purvchased them almost 5 years ago can maybe perhaps start expecting them soon!

And to follow up--yes! And apparently the other orders will be going out...eventually.

Impressive!  Can you pose "Hans" next to him for scale?  Personally I hope Malcolm can come through on the other prehistoric mammals he sculpted a few years back, but never released ...

I will hunt one done (it might have to be the CollectA version). And I did get an Arctodus from him (purchased at the same time as the Leedsichthys...received last year!) I think his goal was to finally clear existing orders, and then maybe take new ones.

Roselaar

Oh my, that is a gorgeous fish! I don't mind kicking the species off the USL if it means I can get a shot at acquiring that figure. :)

Here you go!

It came out a little fuzzy...not an easy fish to get a photo of! And it is with CollectA's Arthur, as I can't find Hans anywhere!

Roselaar

So how much does it cost and where can I get one? :)

If I remember correctly, the Faunacasts line of figures was created almost five years ago by a DTF member.
He had some personal problems and now he's finalizing orders taken (and paid) five years ago.
Personally I wouldn't commission anything from Faunacasts by now...

Your dates are a little off.  Malcolm floated the idea of Faunacasts in December 2008.  2009 saw the creation of the first figures.  Between 2009 and 2014 he released several dozen figures of dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals.  Last regular deliveries of orders were in early 2014, by which time he had to suspend production due to life issues that came up.

The key term there is 'regular deliveries'. My Leedsicthys (along with others) was ordered/paid in summer 2013. I received the rest of the order last year...

But for a while the work was slow but consistent (I have many models from him). And this was while doing his real job, which was museum exhibit work--including a palaeocene exhibit I had him do when I ran a museum (I even have copies oof the gar and Ptilodus). That only happened about two months after it was supposed to...! ;)

I know that he hopes to get himself going in a slow way again--but I'm not sure if the Leedsichthys will be made available. It was apparently incredibly laborious to make, and although not cheap, I bet he should be charging even more for it!

Roselaar

Hmmm, I'll pass then. But you do think Leedsichthys should be removed from the USL, right?

I do--in it's day, it was available for sale. There are, after all, 2 models of it!

Alrighty then, off it goes. So sad...

Wade Ceramics made a Scutellosaurus and a Vulcanodon. Have any other companies made one of these?
