I'm curious about shipping too, how much will it even be?

I tried to pledge, but the payment page requires a lot of address information that isn't pertinent to my country, and there's a required drop-down menu for "state," which contains only the states of Brazil. I can't find any way for international fans to back the project.

We contacted the platform Kickante to figure out international pledges, but they said that the site doesn't allow international payment anymore, due to problems in the past. So for now, it is only available to Brazilian contributors.

On a positive note, there will be another campaign soon, for international backers, and we'll make sure to include all pertinent shipping information on it. Please stay tuned for more info, I'll let you know.

Ahh, that's so cool! I'll be looking forward to that.

Thanks, avatar_Ikessauro @Ikessauro, that's good to know. I would especially like to see some of the smaller non-dinosaur animals realized. I was surprised to learn that paleontologists I'm familiar with, like Aline Ghilardi, are helping with this project; that's very exciting.

You're welcome. It is really nice, isn't? Aline is actually an inspiration for the main character on Tito's book. She's an awesome scientist, as is Tito. The novel Tito wrote, which serves as the basis for this new line of toys, had input from Aline too, since they are married and share the same passion for their profession as paleontologists. If you have not read the novel, stay tunned, an English version is in the works.

Excellent news, and with only Brazilian backers! Imagine what they'd rake in if they opened it up to the rest of the world.

The best Irritator we've seen to date in toy form is about to become reality! Dino Hazard Irritator has been anounced officially in the Brazilian campaign, it surely will be available for international collectors in the future! By the way, the texture in the back and neck is meant to represent some sort of scale type, not feathers or filaments, as some might think. More details to come soon.

Ikessauro

Hey, I'd like to ask the moderation team, maybe avatar_DinoToyForum @dinotoyforum to change the name of this topic to Dino Hazard: Hidden Reality Line.

It's the official name of the brand and it will be releasing more figures in the future, since the crowdfunding campaign is doing well. Maybe even move it to the dinosaur toy lines thread??

avatar_Ikessauro @Ikessauro is that Irritator going to be produced as a mass production figure, complete with paintjob? Also,in what price range is it going to be? It looks very good.

Flaffy

Interesting, hope the patterns and colours on the painted variant won't be as bad as the Carchar.

Killekor

I wasn't really interested in the Carcharadontosaurus, but this Irritator it's really amazing! If it will be available internationally I'll certainly get it.

Killekor
Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.

What's the problem with the Carcharo's colors in your opinion? I can relay the message to the sculptor and maybe we can improve it.

The project started as a crowdfunding, so we can manufacture the molds for the dinosaurs. It's going well and we already raised enough funds for the Carcharodontosaur mold. So I could say that for each new goal reached in our campaign, a new dinosaur will have molds funded.

Once we guarantee the mold production, we can mass manufacture it, since the metal molds can handle plenty of runs. I can't say it's going to be like Papo or Safari, but it will not be a garage kit in really limited runs. It will be made of vinyl plastic.

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator sent me a few questions via PM, which I think would be useful to answer here for everyone else to have access, so anyone with the same questions will have the answer.

1) Will the final figure be painted?

(Yes, there'll be a painted version available and also unpainted versions, for people willing to paint themselves)

2) What size will it be?

(It's the same scale as the Carcharo, so 1:20 scale. Based on a 9-meter-long individual. I'll ask Hugo the exact size and get back to you.

3)Will it be available to buy from traditional shops, like Dan's Dinosaurs, Everything Dinosaur, Urzeitshop...?

(So far I can't confirm that, all I know is we have plans to sell it directly from Brazil to the collectors, there will be an online page for you guys to order from, probably using PayPal, as it's the most common payment method).

4) Have you got an estimated price?

It'll be pretty reasonable I assure you. Right now I don't have the cost, but I'll ask the team about it.

5) When is it expected to be released?

The crowdfunding campaign results are supposed to be release still in 2019. I'll check what are the plans on the international sale and post it later.

It's an amazing figure, but if you have participated in the design (which I guess you have): why did you apply a different integument in the upper part of the body than the rest?I'm just curious, it looks somehow strange.

I am participating to a small extent to the design, but the artist (Hugo Cafasso) and the paleontologists responsible (Aline Ghilardi, Tito Aureliano and Rafael Delcourt) for the technical anatomical design based the integument in the following research. I guess to a certain point is an aesthetic decision to keep it only on the back. They are modified scales, appendicular scales, Hugo says, if I'm not mistaken.

Aline has told me this (loosely translated by me): the dorsal region is the preferential place for occurrence of filamentous integumentary structure and these scales would actually be modified filaments, their distribution should occur in these areas more likely to have filaments. Filaments are ancestral traits of Avemetatarsalia. (https://www.cell.com/trends/ecology-evolution/fulltext/S0169-5347(19)30140-5?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS0169534719301405%3Fshowall%3Dtrue). Dinosaurs that lack filaments, however, would have lost these filaments secondarily, possibly due to structural modification. What Hugo represented in the Irritator is a structural modification of filaments into longer scales.

Also, does it have webbed feet?

No webbed feet, not to the extent seen on Ibrahim's spino at least. We have plenty theropod footprints from the localities where spinosaurs like Oxalaia lived and none show indication of webbing between toes. While that might be possible, there's no direct evidence that would require it, so the feet are a bit more conservative in this regard.

Concavenator

Thanks for the answer, avatar_Ikessauro @Ikessauro  :)

Also, 1:20 sounds like it will be massive. Haven't  you guys planned on releasing a smaller (1:40-1:35-1:30) ish version?

What's the problem with the Carcharo's colors in your opinion? I can relay the message to the sculptor and maybe we can improve it.

In my opinion: the sudden change in colour from dark brown to the lighter brown; and the sudden change from light brown back to dark brown on the arms, feet and tail is quite jarring. The monotone-ness of the light brown bits makes the Carcharo look half painted and unfinished. The lack of patterning on the body further re-enforces this idea.
A darker shade of brown would've made the transition smoother. Painting the rest of the body (excluding the belly) with the same shade of brown would be preferable. Slight variations in shades of colour at the extremities, rather than jarring sudden changes, would be nice as well.

Thanks!  ^-^

Silvanusaurus

Oh boy, that irritator is fantastic! If only there was a baryonyx figure that looks like that.
