I've been thinking of posting a poll based around this idea for a while, but ever since avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator started his 'Now Or Then' thread, I've felt like I should give it the go-ahead.

Aside from that, it's pretty much what the title says; a (planned) poll of your favorite 'recent' companies (later half of 2014 onwards).

Here's the list so far. If there's any other company/ies you'd like to see added, feel free to reply to this thread*:

REBOR
PNSO
Vitae
BOTM
Eofauna**
Southlands Replicas
Nanmu Studio
W-Dragon/Wan Long Tang
I-Toy
Damtoys
Recur
Dinostar
Australian Age of Dinosaurs
Paleozoo
Paleo-Creatures
Protocasts
Sonokong***
Diramix***
PREY Collection
Trilobiti Design***

*must have revealed its first figure in, at the earliest, the later half of 2014 OR first gained significant prominence around that time, and not be directly listed in the main 'Favorite Companies' poll.

**started out as a model company, but didn't make PVC figures or gain much prominence in the community until well into the time period listed, hence why I'll include them as an exception to the rule

***companies are either not new or of an unclear status, but they are nevertheless new in the dinosaur market, hence why I've added them.

Shonisaurus

avatar_Ravonium @Ravonium Nanmu Studio is another promising company. It should be added to the group.

I am wondering if Mattel's Jurassic World line should be included for something like this, but I'm not entirely sure since Mattel is not a new company by far, but on the other hand 2017 was the first time they had the license for any Jurassic products (though 2018 would be the first year of release), compared with Kenner and then Hasbro in turn, owning it for the many years prior (though of course the Jurassic franchise has been around since the early 90's even though it was re-branded back in 2014-2015)?

I think the only ones missing here could be W-Dragon and I-toy? I'm not entirely sure on when either of those started though. I think you've got all the recent major ones now, at least the ones mentioned around here frequently.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin Added W-Dragon and I-Toy, as well as several others.

Not adding Mattel's Jurassic World line, on the grounds of it not being a new company (even in the market of making dinosaur figures i.e. they made them for their Imaginext line).

Added a few more. Unless anyone has something they feel I've missed out, I'll be starting the poll soon (probably within a hour or so).

Edit: Started poll.

What about Battat? I know they produced 18 figures in the 90's for a few years but after that they were absent on the dinosaur toy market and they returned in 2014 with the Terra line (and that was quite an prominent event in the forum).

I knew someone was going to ask about the 2014 Battat reboot; I didn't include it on the grounds that it was pretty explicitly a reintroduction of the older figures (combined with some new ones), rather than a new line entirely like the rest of the companies on the poll.

Yeah and unfortunately they didn't produce anything new since then. If they did introduce new figures you would include them too?

No; the reason I excluded them would still apply.

I'd be glad if people would spell the word favourite correctly.
It's not the first time I'm opening a thread to read about the Favorite company just to see someone's writing about his or her favourite things.

Back on topic - PREY Collection is not a company. It's a line of resin figures made by Alexander Belov.
If you include it you'd also have to include all those new Chinese lines, like Prehistoric Passions or M-See (just to name two of them).
Or what about Protocasts by Clayton Hildebrand or Lone Trike Studio by Simon Panek?

Tomayto, tomahto. Potayto, potahto. :P Both spellings are correct, surely, depending on which side of the Atlantic you are ;-)

To get back to the topic, I voted for Eofauna mainly because they uphold such a rigorous approach to scientific accuracy while at the same time keeping their "artistic style" a bit subdued (from what I can interpret from just one dinosaur model). I like PNSO for their somewhat more colourful (or colorful ;) ) approach.

Australian Age of Dinosaurs seems to have been cancelled, so I would remove it.

We spell things the right way up here in Canada too, don't lump us in with those southern riffraff always inventing new spellings :P

Jokes aside, in the case of Favorite co specifically the complaint is a valid one, as they spell it using the American version rather than the original "o-u" spelling and it's important to be careful when it's the name of a company.

OK, I've changed the spelling. BTW, the 'ou' spelling is my native spelling too, I just used the 'o' spelling because that was the one I assumed most native English speakers on this forum would be familar with. I also agree with stargatedalek that this is a valid complaint when taking the fact there's a company called 'Favorite' into account.

I have the 'Other' option incase anyone wants to vote for one of the ones you listed, and Protocasts is actually on the poll. If anyone had mentioned them before I had made the poll, I would have listed them individually.

Regardless, I've changed the subject of the poll from 'new companies' to 'new companies/lines'.

Somewhat amusingly, despite the "o" spelling being my native spelling, I usually change it to "ou" online because I assume most English speakers are not from the States.

Nimravus

I voted for PNSO because of the huge jump they have done last year, first of all issuing the Minis, some of which are very nice models, and then with all the amazing models they have released at roughly 1/35 (Amargasaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Spinosaurus, Yangchuanosaurus diorama, Giganotosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Stegosaurus). They are a bit pricey though, but their quality has increased substantially as well.
I would like to give Eofauna the runner-up price, since they have the best ancient elephant models without doubt. In addition to that, their prices are very competitive and the scale is perfect for me.

ceratopsian

I voted for PNSO.  I find their models exciting and appealing - they give me a real buzz.  I'm hoping they will continue to be as active in the future as they have been recently with the second tranche of minis and large figures.  I pass on some of their releases but I'm always tempted.

My runner-up would have been Paleo-Creatures.  I like the very distinctive personal style of this line; and I like the way it issues unusual creatures often neglected by large commercial firms - and finally I like the opportunity of commissioning a model of my own choice of animal from Jetoar from time to time.

Halichoeres

Like most, I voted for PNSO on the simple logic that they have contributed by far the largest number of figures to my collection of the companies listed, and they're of consistently high quality.

Like ceratopsian, my runner-up has to be Paleo-Creatures, for the nearly unparalleled taxonomic breadth.

I'd never really thought about this before, but I guess European speakers whose first language isn't English, and who learned the British spelling conventions, could be forgiven for not realizing (realising) that English has multiple "standard" spellings for certain words. I suppose then they might have the impression that everyone in the U.S. is an absolutely atrocious speller who can't even remember to put the "u" in "color."
