The Atroxious

I guess CollectA's specialty is ornithopods now. That Fukuisaurus is pretty impressive. If I were a fan of ornithopods, I'd be all over it.

Alas, theropods (as usual) leave something to be desired.

I have pointed out Microraptor's tail innaccuracy on Collecta's FB Page, and they simply responded that " their interpretation is diffrent"

...Great argument there.

"Why'd you sculpt this two headed lion for the wildlife line?"
"It's just a different interpretation."

Oooookay.

I like them, the fukuisaurus is my favorite. But whats with 3 of them being the same tan brown with brown spots coloration? Oh right its Collecta. Let me guess, the next figure will have khaki green camo colors?

Yeah, out of all the companies I think CollectA has the worst color schemes :(

PNSO isn't far behind either. But all good for repaints

Shonisaurus

With a repaint of Martin, all Collecta figures could change favorably and even opinions would vary favorably. The only thing that happens is that a touch of very detailed paint would mean a very bad economic cost that would have a negative impact on collectors and consumers of dinosaurs and other prehistoric toy animals.

Faelrin

That response is concerning, but I suppose it wouldn't be the first time they've done their own interpretation in addition to using fossil evidence (such as sticking with the paleo meme of giving neoceratopsians Psittacosaurus style quills, when currently the evidence only supports Psittacosaurus possibly having them). Granted my other issue is they didn't even try to explain their choice of giving it a tail like this. I certainly wish to see some reasoning behind why, if it would perhaps help me understand it better (which was the case for when I questioned why the Safari Ltd 2018 Dimetrodon was scaly, which sculptor Doug and other forum members helped explain).

However the tail is not the only possible thing inaccurate with the Microraptor (lack of alula, scaly fingers, lack of lips, etc). I'm going to be cautious in expecting how any of their future dromaeosaurids turn out (I'm at least expecting Velociraptor to go with their Protoceratops, aside from it just being far too long since they've last done one). I only sincerely hope they do give them Zhenyuanlong like tails if they do any, which is more likely then this fan shaped tail (which itself was another paleo meme that went on for too long).

Also I'm not sure if this was asked already, but when should we expect more reveals? Wasn't it done biweekly last year (if not years prior)?

The reveals were weekly last year, so there's no reason not to expect another series of images this coming Thursday night.

I'll say it again: I agree that the colours on three of these new toys are disappointingly similar, but that doesn't make them bad schemes. Taken as individuals, they all look perfectly good. Same as how the 2020 Safari Sarcosuchus and Edmontosaurus look good on their own. But yeah, I've noticed that CollectA used to be more daring overall with their colour schemes in years past. Remember their Xenoceratops? Or their Kosmoceratops? Or the Carcharodontosaurus and the Diplodocus? Hopefully this week's reveals will show greater variety.

And hey, 2019 did give us the Caiuajara.

... which they unfortunately only do every second year.
  2015 - Guidraco, 2017 - Dimorphodon, 2019 - Caiuajara, 2021 - ?
But I'd be glad if they'd change that :) .

I agree. I like that the colors of the three non-Microraptor are 'natural' colors (I would expect gaudy colors for maybe feathered dromaeosaurs, pterosaurs, and maybe ceratopsian frills, among others), BUT all three have essentially the same color scheme.

I suppose that as every year Collecta reveals in these next three weeks of November in three batches more news of prehistoric animals. I don't think you have to wait much longer. Another story is regarding the prehistoric dinosaurs and animals of Papo and Mojo.

Next Friday morning we will have his next revelation and so on until November 23. It is the positive thing that Collecta has its punctuality at the time of revealing its new figures.

Yeah, but if I remember correctly, many people complained about CollectA's "War Paint"...

Concavenator

Actually, these are growing on me  :P :)) Every time I see the Microraptor and the Protoceratops I like them more and more

As Collecta sent me information, the size of the dinosaurs is as follows:

Protoceratops Deluxe scale 1: 6
Fukuisaurus standard size M (medium)
Baryonyx standard size L (Large)
XL size microraptor

Therefore according to Collecta information only the protoceratops is Deluxe size.

PrimevalRaptor

Think the beak on the Protoceratops could be a different color but otherwise it's a really great model and we really were in the need of a new affordable model of this guy, certainly my favorite of this bunch. :D
Apart from the issues pointed out by others, the Microraptor is pretty neat, I do like the pose, should be fun for dioramas or photos.
Fukuisaurus and Baryonyx are nice but don't stand out too much to me.

Doesn't CollectA announce which toys they're retiring at the conclusion of their reveals anyway?

So glad for a very nice Protoceratops like this, especially in a large scale! Well done, CollectA.

About that information about the prehistoric animals removed and in general Collecta figures that they will withdraw in 2020. Nor do I have that information like you. They only send me a message every year every first Friday of November (the first four Fridays) every year about the announcement of news and the size of these figures. On the rest I could not answer you unfortunately I know as much as you on that subject.

Bokisaurus

Aesome new figures from CollectA! That protoceratops is simply amazing and it's about time we get a figure of this classic dinosaur and at a good size, too  :D
The Fuki is nice, it would be interesting if it in the same size as the mantia... if so, a repaint of each could be done to make a pair for each.
I love the Microraptor, by far my favorite version of this species in toy form. Its dynamic and very alive looking. It would be great if CollectA share the information about what prompted them to do it in this interpretation. From what little info there is about the model, it seems like it was one that was specifically requested by a museum in China, and that the staff approved the design. Maybe there is information out there we just don't know yet.
Great start so far, I can't wait to see what else is coming! :)

SidB

B @Bokisaurus - well said! These are balanced, temperate and reasonable assessments. We need to wait a while to discern the rationale behind some of the more controversial elements, eg., the micro's tail. Meanwhile, we can appreciate the virtues of the sculpts.
