dinosaur documentaries

Apart from the documentary called the real T Rex in 2017 ,there hasn't been any quality documentaries about dinosaurs despite the vast amount of discoveries recently.
Now im aware of other prehistoric documentaries which are about the mega fauna within the last few years but im focusing on dinosaur documentaries only and that means no giant snakes or giant sharks documentaries which were quite good and better than any recent dinosaur documentary .
Didn't like reign of the dinosaurs because it simply was not good. In my view dinosaur documentaries need to go back to basics, just mention the newest finds and show the fossils and reconstructions .No boring stories that follow 1 dinosaur though its imaginary journey through time...im sick of that garbage..and im a true fanatic of both dinosaurs and monsters of flims as well as other genres...
Why cant dinosaur documentaries just follow the same route taken by other documentaries of mega-fauna and keep it straight forward and factual ,the way it should be...and keep the boring cgi stories about 1 dinosaurs imaginary journey through time out of documentaries..because in my view thats not what documentaries should be about.

I can feel your pain. The 80's and 90's had the dinosaur documentary structure down pat. A mix of talking heads, special effect reconstructions, paleo-art, mounted specimens, and footage of actual dig sites. Documentaries like Christopher Reeve's Dinosaur!, Walter Cronkite's Dinosaur! PBS's The Dinosaurs, and of course PaleoWorld. I still watch those once in awhile, most of them are on Youtube.

Anyway, I'm getting off track. Honestly, Youtube has some of the best dinosaur content now. Check out Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong (YDAW) if you haven't. Many museums and paleo-artists have their own channels now too. PBS recently aired Prehistoric Road Trip with The Brain Scoop's Emily Graslie. I highly recommend that one, it's all filmed at dig sites and museums. There are 3 parts but the second one deals exclusively with the Mesozoic. Attenborough and the Giant Dinosaur was pretty good and you can't go wrong with Attenborough.

EDIT: I seem to recall Dinosaur Britain, and Dinosaurs in the Outback being pretty good. But it's been a few years. They both have CGI dinosaurs but they don't rely on them entirely.

The last good documentary that I remember was when Nature on PBS had an episode with David Attenborough on Ichthyosaurs last year

It would be nice to see another program come up that's more akin to Walking with Dinosaurs, Dinosaur Revolution, or When Dinosaurs Roamed America.

That documentary "Les Mondes Perdus" is superior in quality to other dinosaur documentaries that I have seen on television judging by those videos. Honestly dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals look real.

I too feel your pain. The closest things I can think of to what you want are 1) PBS Eons ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzR-rom72PHN9Zg7RML9EbA ), & 2) BRIAN ENGH PALEOART ( https://www.youtube.com/user/DinosaursReanimated ). The latter in particular reminds me of Paleoworld.

I have been watching Planet Dinosaur for the first time. I have been really enjoying the series, especially the Spino/Carcharodontosaurus episode. What are everybody's thoughts on Planet Dinosaur?

I enjoyed Planet Dinosaur when it first released, but I've seen a lot of lukewarm or even negative reactions to the show from various sites. I think the series might have played a little too safe in its depictions of behavior, and some information was definitely out of date by the time it aired. I do think the visual effects of the show were mostly just serviceable; it's weird how many programs struggle to make their dinosaurs look as convincing as they did in Walking with Dinosaurs or When Dinosaurs Roamed America, despite how old those series are now.
