I am interested in the Eurypterid, can't find anywhere to order it, so i hope it eventually makes its way to Ebay.
I also like the Paleo-Creatures version, but i don't know where to get these either, trying to grab their Arthropleura as well.

Edit: Oops, just noticed the message above, I'll think of it.
My question still stands for Pelo-Creatures figures.

You can get Paleo-Creatures models on Everything Dinosaur.
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

I'm not sure the Paleo-Creatures models are still being made. What ED has in stock might be all there is forever. Dan's had some too, but I don't think there are any left.

Also, does this count as a dinosaur toy?

Third from the left, labeled only "dinosaur."
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Some unexpected news from Tamara Tomy. The Deinocheirus is way too similar to the CollectA one.
This set is full of new species, the Amargarsaurus is a surprise.

That's a little awkward..

The set is based around Jurassic World - those six dinosaurs are pretty much carbon copies of their Mattel counterparts.

Faelrin

The Deinocheirus is definitely too similar to the CollectA one in sculpt and coloration.

The Amargasaurus is interesting as it is the same design as the 2019 Mattel one but these figures are also licensed JW figures as well. This occured with the red and yellow Dimorphodon as well, despite not being in CC (may have been a canceled design for it though). I wonder if it would make a nice hatchling or juvenile for the Mattel one.

Damn, they didn't even try to be subtle with that CollectA rip-off :P All they needed to do is change the colors and maybe no one would have noticed... :P :P

sauroid

wow thats a blatant ripoff of CollectA
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Yeah, to day that Deinocheirus is 'inspired by' the CollectA would be much too generous

Oh, huh, wow. Ripping off another company's designs? That's a new low for Takara.

Well, it happened before, with the Battle at Big Rock Allosaurus.

That's an official licensed JP/W merch based of the short film though, no doubt based off this concept design. A whole different situation compared to the rip-off CollectA Deinocheirus.

That one is cleary a mini version of the Papo Allosaurus.
"Dinosaurs lived sixty five million years ago. What is left of them is fossilized in the rocks, and it is in the rock that real scientists make real discoveries. Now what John Hammond and InGen did at Jurassic Park is create genetically engineered theme park monsters, nothing more and nothing less."

Ah I see, I somehow managed to miss that. Apologies, yes then this would mark the second(?) time Takara has blatantly ripped off another company's products.

Does their Therizinosaurus from last year count as a third time? It's obviously inspired by smaller CollectA figure.
Takara either really likes or really hates CollectA  :P

Fembrogon

Would it be worth it for someone to try contacting CollectA directly about this issue? Maybe there's nothing to be done, but it would probably be better for both companies not to let this slide.

This poses an interesting case though: is the Battle of Big Rock Allosaurus design also 'inspired' by the Papo model?

Faelrin

Possibly. Honestly even the JWE one which predates the BaBR design is similar to the Papo one, but in all fairness Papo has been using their designs for quite some time now.

Though granted it must be said the final film design is different from the above concept art being shown here (which both the Mattel and to a lesser degree the Takara one, as its sculpt is certainly too similar to the Papo one are based on), although it too bares some resemblance in coloration and the spikes, etc.

Good analysis, I guess the overal shape and general image of allosaurus was based on the image of the species Papo created with their figure. We could be wrong of course, but the similarity is quite striking. Fascinating.
