Worth mentioning is that this has five eyes similar to Opabinia and has appendages similar to Anomalocaris. It was discovered in the Chinese Chengjiang biota, and of course was from the Cambrian period.

That's a pretty amazing fossil. It makes me wish there's be some traveling Paleozoic exhibit at some point, but alas.

Also, "five-eyed shrimp-like creature" would be a great band name.

The Oxford University Museum of Natural History has had an exhibition called First Life, with loan fossils from China. Here's a link to their online look at it:

As for the the newly published fossil - an exciting find that I hadn't seen anything about. I have a soft spot for Opabinia. Thanks avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin!
