KICKSTARTER COMMENCES ON OCTOBER 3, 2023.

WHAT IS CYBERZOIC? It's finally time for us to take our first glimpse at this new world!

'In the distant future, the remnants of humanity are in a struggle to earn their right to survive on a new planet, protected by the formidable 'Dragons'. With limited defenses, Earth's mightiest beasts are resurrected through science and technology, giving the humans more than a fighting chance against the reptilian natives. But after splitting into several opposing clans, humanity's biggest threat may still be themselves.'

It's been nearly a year since I began working on Cyberzoic with talented concept artist Ross Persichetti, who did the awesome concept art that you see here. These two images depict the main clan of the story called the Technologists, one of the five human clans, each having a unique look.

Here are some key facts about the line:

- The dinosaurs will have cyber-enhanced armor (hence the name of the era) but there are no cyborg dinosaurs or cyborg dragons
- the dinosaurs are just as scientifically accurate as they are in Beasts of the Mesozoic, and the same figure molds will be used allowing for extra compatibility with BotM.
- this is a sci-fi story, but is still grounded in our own reality, albeit in the future. Thus BotM could be seen as a 'prequel' to this story.
-there will be plenty of humans and a few robot characters, many of which are planned for the 3 3/4" figure treatment.
-Each Cyberzoic dinosaur release will have a BotM counterpart color, thus a 'female' (CZ) and 'male' (BotM) version of each species. However many BotM releases will still be exclusive to that line.
- A mini comic with the on-going story is planned to come with each figure.
- Two preview figures will be first- Utahraptor and Achillobater. The remainder will be supported via crowdfunding, though the platform is yet to be determined.
-Cyberzoic is not limited to just dinosaurs, as the story incorporates wildlife from multiple eras which could also be made as action figures later on.
-some existing BotM figures will be reintroduced into Cyberzoic with new colors, including but not limited to: Yutyrannus, Tyrannosaurus rex, Dryptosaurus, Triceratops, Styracosaurus, and Diabloceratops.
- the 'Dragons' will follow a natural history aesthetic as compared to the traditional 'fantasy' look. These figures will vary in size and will be released less frequently than the dinosaurs.
- there will be five clans in total: Tech, Fire, Water, Desert, and Dragon. Dragon Clan will include a few dinosaurs as well as MAMMALS!

Also shown here is the initial list of the planned dinosaur species to be created for Cyberzoic, specifically for the Fire and Tech Clans. (There will be additional new species for BotM which will be announced later.) Families such as Hadrosaurs, Ankylosaurs, Spinosaurs, Sauropods, and many others are expected to be introduced later if the line is successful, but we can only commit to so many figures at once if they're to be given the proper attention. I'm sure there will be plenty more questions so feel free to ask below!
I'm very excited to have the opportunity to bring this line to life and I hope that it finds the support that it needs. There will be much more progress and announcements in the months to come, so get ready... the CYBERZOIC ERA HAS BEGUN.

I wonder how often David receives questions regarding a JP inspired line/figures?

I am heavily interested in this line, and I can't wait to see a prototype.

Faelrin

While this was discussed in the Tyrannosaur thread already, David confirmed there will be Allosaurus and Kentrosaurus featured in this next series, and since both series will share sculpts going forward, that likely means there will be BotM Allosaurus and Kentrosaurus figures coming down the road.

He also expressed interest in moving away from doing families for BotM, but did express interest in looking at doing formations instead. We already have a bit of that going between the raptor, ceratopsian, and tyrannosaur series, so it would be nice to see that fleshed out from here. Quite a few more he could do from Hell Creek, Dinosaur Park, Nemegt, never mind untouched ones such as the Cloverly Formation (Acrocanthosaurus, Deinonychus, Sauropelta, Tenontosaurus, etc), the Morrison (Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Torvosaurus, Stegosaurus, etc), etc.

I wonder if this will also be a good method to getting 1/18th Deinonychus, Utahraptor, and (although fragmentary) Dakotaraptor figures at last.

I'm curious about the ratio of dinosaurs to dragons in this series. And are we talking dinosaurs vs dragons here, or heroic dinosaurs and dragons vs evil ones?

Still another intriguing tidbit from David Silva:

QuoteNeither Beasts of the Mesozoic or Cyberzoic are limited to only dinosaurs, but Cyberzoic will offer an opportunity for animals outside of the Mesozoic era. All wildlife will be fair game with Cyberzoic.

So . . . could that mean prehistoric mammals might show up in Cyberzoic? Smilodon? Megatherium? Arctotherium? Possibly even a mammoth?

A modern homage to the Dino-Riders Ice Age line would be amazing. Would do well with the arctic dragon that was teased for this new Cyberzoic line, which in the silhouette already. Loved seeing that finished (huge) model kit years ago (the base was even lit up and glowed), so I've been antsy these past few years for an action figure of it. Hope it comes with that narwhal accessory too the kit comes with.

Back when there were also plans for a concurrent dragon line with the tyrannosaur line, there was some concept art for the dragon action figures, and even a poll held for the first prototype to be done (and guess which one came out on top?):

My mind keeps associating that "Ice Dragon" to the McFarlane line. I forget that it's one of David's personal projects.

I had completely forgotten about the ice dragon. Have to say, I'm glad David chose to do this project instead of straight up dragons.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

What are the chances of David doing figures of an obscure prehistoric animal in this line? Something tells me it will just be well known animals mixed with the dragons. Twould be a shame
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

suspsy

David has confirmed that Allosaurus and Kentrosaurus will be included in Cyberzoic, although I certainly wouldn't count those as obscure. I think the prehistoric cast of Cyberzoic will be determined based on their perceived battle prowess. Those two above are definitely considered "warriors," along with Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceratops, naturally. Ankylosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Pachycephalosaurus would also make that cut. But I wouldn't count on say, Dryosaurus or Plateosaurus or Struthiomimus being in Cyberzoic.

But hey, Dino-Riders had Saurolophus among the bad guys and its battle armour was awesome, so I wouldn't count out the possibility of a Cyberzoic hadrosaur. Could be really cool to see a Parasaurolophus with bladed gauntlets attached to its forearms and a giant chainsaw over its crest!

Some small dinosaurs in this line as "infiltrators" could be seriously cool. Something like a Sinosauropteryx or Stegoceras squaring off with a small dragon.

Smaller species would possibly be a good way to keep some more affordable options on the table for folks as well, such as the current campaign's Guanlong, or the previous campaign's Zuniceratops.

Edit: Would be a good way to make some use of those 1/18th Velociraptor, Protoceratops, etc sculpts.

GojiraGuy1954

He should make a Cyberzoic Mosasaurus / Tylosaurus with torpedoes
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

suspsy

David did say in a previous interview that he was interested in doing prehistoric sharks. I wonder if one of those will show up in Cyberzoic. Presumably not Megalodon.

Yeah, I feel like Megalodon would be too large for a 1/18 scale figure.

Yeah, I feel like Megalodon would be too large for a 1/18 scale figure.

A 1/18 scale Megalodon would have to be at least 90 cm/35" long and probably cost close to $300 US.

Yes,a Stegoceras would be nice to see.

Since this newest potential line is not restricted to just one group of dinosaurs or prehistoric animals, maybe we could see something like Plesiosaurus or Cryptoclidus :)
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

A 1/35th scale fully articulated Megalodon would be better, but still expensive.

I know this may be an overrated dragon to do, but having Smaug from the Hobbit in fully articulated figure would be amazing. Although David would have to make it unofficially Smaug or just a dragon similar to the characters look.

Human figures. Okay.

Not surprising given that the theme is Dinosaurs and Dragons with armor and David is obviously a Dino Riders fan.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no
