Apparently it really would kill Mattel to make a HC Corythosaurus, or a Corythosaurus at all!

The Concavenator looks amazing! Much better than the frog-mouthed Dino Rivals offering. A weird choice for the Hammond Collection to be sure (I'm still holding out for a Carnotaurus  ::) ) but with how good it looks it's hard to be mad.

I might be in the minority here, but I'm actually not minding these new sculpts/paint jobs. I think as far as their original designs go we've seen much worse.

Does the Concavenator look great? Yes

Did we need it? No

Krono is great.
Diabloceratops front limbs should be red.
Dryptosaurus look cool but obscure species I don't need in my Jurassic Park/ World collection. Same for the Sinotyrannus

And for folks here disappointed about the Concavenator that was done, this is a medium sized species.

There is roughly only (excluding minor variations which my thread here goes into detail):

-Corythosaurus
-JPIII or JW Ankylosaurus (one is on the way)
-JW Pteranodon (JPIII's was done in AC already)
-juvenile Allosaurus
-Peloroplites (corpse prop, but probably too skeletal to work from)
-Sinoceratops
-Teratophoneus (corpse prop, and concept art)
-Iguanodon
-Nasutoceratops
-Dominion Parasaurolophus

Edit: Added the Teratophoneus and Peloroplites to the list. I think the former is more likely then the latter, if either at all, but who knows.

Assuming they continue making herbivore and carnivore waves, they are running out of fuel fast as far as carnivores go. Concavenator is a safe choice, as at least it technically is an on screen creature design. Aside from the upcoming Geosternbergia, there is only the juvenile Allosaurus and JW Pteranodon to do. Rest is herbivores.

Of course this isn't counting CC species either such as Ankylosaurus Bumpy, the Baryonyx Trio, and Ouranosaurus.

So far the line only has humans, small dinosaurs (so far alternating one carnivore, one herbivore), medium dinosaurs, and one large. No medium-large species like the adult Allosaurus, Carnotaurus (FK orange, Dominion demon, Toro), Stegosaurus, or Quetzalcoatlus yet. No tiny species like Compsognathus, Dimorphodon, Microceratus, or Moros yet either. Excluding the humans, those seem to be:

-JP Velociraptor
-Gallimimus
-Dilophosaurus
-Pachycephalosaurus
-JPIII male raptor (female is in a set with Grant)
-Baryonyx
-Parasaurolophus
-Ceratosaurus
-Triceratops
-Concavenator
-Geosternbergia
-Ankylosaurus
-JP Tyrannosaurus

Species left (excluding the ones listed above) that would make sense to do include:

-TLW male raptor
-JW raptor squad
-Stygimoloch
-Dimetrodon
-Oviraptor
-Pyroraptor
-TLW Tyrannosaurus buck
-Spinosaurus
-Indominus rex
-Giganotosaurus

That's me first seeing the Hammond Collection Concavenator. It is very nice. I can't wait to add them all to the park.

Also, I want to do the Sinotyranus' review when it is out.

PrimevalRaptor

A bit of an odd pick since it was only featured as a statue but apart from that fourth finger (that was in the movie version at least I guess) it's a really nice model.
The Dryptosaurus still is neat too, not a fan of those swiveling action features but I do like the (yes, rather spare) colors on this one and the stylization. And the Sinotyrannus is also a neat pick, I like the crest (hell that was what had me thinking it'd be Sinotyrannus back in the leaked images) and it has some nice colors too.
Do certainly see the more sparingly use of patterns/colors compared to older releases which is a bit sad but I'm mostly waiting for the Nothosaurus anyway.

Dilopho

I actually really like it, I was a bit stunned at how weedy the tail looked until I saw it from the side. Not too bad. I'm happy that they're doing a rather obscure one. If I remember, they said "no dinosaur [from the films?] is off the table" and this really shows that.

Now I want them to do the Teratophoneus, lol.

avatar_Dilopho @Dilopho Oh I forgot about the Teratophoneus corpse (and well Peloriplites, but that was far too skeletal to work from). They could certainly work that one up into a figure of a living animal.

Honestly I am surprised they have yet to make a figure of it at all.

Edit: Apparently they have concept art for it as well, aside from the physical prop design to work from. ChrisLikesDinos noticed the concept art bares similarity to the juvenile Allosaurus concept art. Nevermind the blue tongue and possibly the pattern. Could have been an earlier iteration before being changed to Allosaurus. Very interesting.

And here's the physical prop (more pics at the JP Wikia):

Hammond Collection Ray Arnold and Pachycephalosaurus were today's beyond the gates reveals:

Not the biggest fan of that articulated jaw on that Pachycephalosaurus. At least the head wasn't made wider for it like on the Parasaurolophus. Still disappointed they gave those two articulated jaws but not the Triceratops. But aside fron that factor at least this Pachycephalosaurus is a massive improvement on the 2018 Legacy one, etc. At least this one can stand properly now.

It still looked to have some chubby cheeks from the front, at least in the brief flashes we got of a head on view. Nothing as bloated as the Parasaurolophus but still not completely absent. That little anomaly aside, I do quite like this figure! The Hammond Collection continues to reign supreme.

I personally find the blue a bit too teal, although it does look better in the Beyond the Gates video:

If only I didn´t have to import it and pay extra for shipping and taxes...Why is the T.rex the only Hammond Collection figure sold in my country? C´mon Amazon...

Gwangi

I like them, I'll be getting them both. It's nice to know that even though I didn't get the SDCC exclusive I'll still have a Ray Arnold in my collection. The Pachy is one I've been looking forward to and this is a good one. I haven't bought a single Mattel Pachycephalosaurus and now that I see this one, I'm tankful for it. And I agree with others, the articulated jaw makes it even more vexing as to why Mattel didn't give the Triceratops one.

Shane

I keep missing out on these Target drops.

Hopefully they'll show up in stores in decent numbers, like most of the other HC figures have.

I don't even bother with pre-orders and so far it hasn't bitten me in the arse. The HC figures seem to be well distributed, and available online. I wouldn't worry.

Giganotosaurus

The Pachy is looking good! Will be my fourth Pachy, after the JW figure, the Mattel mainline figure, and the Legacy figure!
Mosasurus on Jurassic Mainframe and JPToys
Angurius on TohoKingdom

I love all the Jurassic movies, plus Disney's Dinosaur

MLMjp

Anyone else disappointed that they didn't replicate the "removable arm" gimmick of the previous Arnold figure? >:D

Faelrin

Agreed with avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi. Even many of the first wave are still available online, for reasonable prices, as well as Wave 2. I haven't pre-ordered any of these, and despite being behind on some for a while now, for once I don't have FOMO with Mattel's stuff as these are stocked well and in many places, after they do show up. I do hope to get more next month (at least Ceratosaurus and Triceratops).

Someone should really let Mattel know that quadrupedal animals can also open their mouths.
