They do indeed work. That's an exciting acquisition.

Congrats for not only getting it, but getting it brand new!  :o

Thank you to all above! I am sorry for not responding sooner, was kind of on a tight schedule  ;D
This isn't really a new collection update, more so a set of 'rules' so I stop spending 300 dollars on E-bay every time I see something remotely nice looking.

I am guessing they won't be enforced at all two years from now, but this is a way to not make my bank account cry every time I see a carnegie I like.

1. No more theropods (with the exception of stuff like deinocherius, therizinosaurus, or a genus that I am VERY fond of.

This is a lot looser, considering the last three things I have bought have been theropods, and very exception filled, as you will soon see. For example, I won't be buying the Papo tyrannosaurus anytime soon (already have the Carnegie one, which is a very fine model) but if I see a good offer for the 3.0 Battat version, it'll be showing up in the near future. Basically, if it's for a stupidly good deal and not common enough for the 'I'll get it later'. it'll be bought. That is as long as it falls under the next rule...

2. Durability will always be prioritized over accuracy.

In short, if a figure is not durable enough to survive a meter or so fall from a shelf, I won't get it. Normally the landing is soft, but for stuff like the Safari LTD Spinosaurus that's very brittle, it'll be a pass. Not that I have anything against the figure, but for its own safety, I won't get it. If the figure is durable enough, it passes onto the third main rule..

3. Color scheme and how pleasing it is to look at are everything in this collection.

Does the Schleich blue velociraptor have a good sculpt? No. Is it durable? Yes. Is it pleasing to look at? Yes. Thus, I got it. The CollectA Dimetrodon is a fine figure, but the colors aren't great. Papo has an arguably worse figure, but the paint and sculpt are better. If a figure passes all three, I will likely get it.

Noting your comment on the old Schleich Spino, avatar_Lynx @Lynx , I have to agree in passing that the Schleichs, without exception I think, are extremely durable (ask any daycare operator). I've given dozens of them to several daycares locally, to young children of friends, etc. and they hold up perfectly well.

That's why it's currently among my 'favorites' shelf! It has fallen off a balcony (not a joke), shelves, beds, and tossed around in a plane, and still remains completely intact to this day with a couple scuffs. Was the first figure that got me into collecting, and left a good impression on me.

In reverse, that's the key, avatar_Lynx @Lynx -  falling down and taking a little tumble doesn't leave an 'impression' on it!

"No more theropods" is an excellent rule, one I've thought of adopting myself. I've gotten them down to less than 18% of my collection, though, which I think is better (i.e., lower) than average. And a lot of those are little feathery guys.

I tend to wince now when the companies keep churning out more theropods. Got enough for now and really want more variety in and of about everything else.

Crackington

A good set of rules there avatar_Lynx @Lynx - not sure how much space you have but you could get around the durability issue by getting a cabinet (small or large). This offers some protection but must admit I've still had casualties such as a Starlux Diplodocus  :'( . This is where Plan B comes in, glue!

Great collection by the way!

Thank you! I live in a small apartment so we don't have too much space, but if we manage to move elsewhere, I'll see if I can get a cabinet!

Since I will be completely redoing my collection after school, here's a randomly assorted list of my favorites, holy grails, and more. Just all my progress!

Acquired Holy Grails (Late 2022-2023):
- Carnegie 2015 Velociraptor
- Carnegie Large Carnotaurus
- Carnegie Giganotosaurus
- Carnegie Diplodocus
- All the PNSO Minis (not rare, but it cost a lot of money and I've been trying to find them all in stock for around a year)

Favorites Acquired (Late 2022-2023)
- Papo Therizinosaurus
- Papo Baryonyx
- Safari LTD Kaprosuchus
- PNSO Mini Spinosaurus
- Safari LTD baby Spinosaurus
- Safari LTD baby Allosaurus
- PNSO Sauropelta

Plans for the future

- Carnegie Spinosaurus
- Carnegie red Velociraptor
- Carnegie Concavenator
- Battat Tyrannosaurus 3.0
- Battat Styracosaurus
- PNSO Shantungosaurus
- All Safari LTD Dinosaur TOOBS

Between 2022 and 2023, my collection has tripled in size! At the moment I am having space issues (many figures are on my bed currently due to this), so I'd just like to put my achievements out there before I revamp my collection completely. Due to my family having to save up for other things, I am having trouble acquiring figures and getting money in general, but I'm gonna try and start getting income in hopes of buying some of my dreams.

Until then, I'll put collecting on a steady halt. Maybe one or two Carnegies and CollectA models here and there!

My family may or may not be moving to Europe as well, so I'm keeping the figures craze down for travel reasons until we have a solid yes or no.

I've also kinda forgotten about the no theropods rule, but yeah, for the future I'm gonna stick by it because that's what I usually go crazy on.

My only goal atm is to collect the entire Carnegie line, including color variants (for some). Also wanna get all the Safari LTD figures in the future, but I am taking my time on that one.

It's unortunately a very expensive time to be trying to complete Carnegie. Prices even on figures that were pretty cheap just a few years ago seem to have skyrocketed over the past year. I don't know what's driving this, maybe more people are becoming interested in collecting the line or maybe it's just reached that point where it's been OOP long enough that it's now seen as a "collectible" by more people. But I wish you luck!

That's sadly true D @Dinoguy2. I'm glad I filled out my Carnegie collection when I started out in this hobby six or seven years ago, just as the line was coming to an end. Prices weren't crazy then.
