Welcome to StegoTyrannos Museum

Each figure will be given identification based on Species, Etymology, Company, Sculptor, Release Year, Aesthetic Rank, and Accuracy Rank.
The final two catergories will be divided into 5 ranks from lowest to highest:
1.Deplorable
2.Substandard
3.Mediocre
4.Approvable
5.Paragon

Lacking controversial ideas(like oral integument) would usally not lower the rank for Accuracy. Additional reviews(such as statements, anecdotes, analysis, etc) will often be written

Figures are often accompanied by multiple photographs.

Some figurines I wish to get at some point, in order of wish

1. Mesozoic Life Spinosaurus
2. PNSO Y. magnus
3. PNSO Saurophaganax
4.  PNSO new Spinosaurus?
5. PNSO Tuojiangasaurus
6. PNSO Alamosaurus (would be hugher but likely to expensive, and i prefer diplodocids)
7. Haolongood Dacentrurus
8. CollectA Ruyangosaurus

So Far we have:

Species:Brachiosauridae/"Brachiosaurus"
Etymology: Sauro(reptile)+Poseidon(Earthquake/Sea God, further from πόσες(master, husband)
Company:Safari Ltd.
Sculptor:Doug Watson(?)
Scale:1:45-1:55
Released:2008
Aesthetic Rank:4
Accuracy Rank:4
Summary:My most recent figure up to this point, I obtained it in July 2022 from a local shop(Michaels). The animal is hefty and large, despite being too small for my scale. Accuracy wise it is decent but the problem is it is obviously based on the more taller, leaner Girafititan rather than  Brachiosaurus proper. In addition, with it's small scale I sometimes subsitute it for "Paluxysaurus"(Sauroposeidon) alongside my Acrocanthosaurus, so it could be reminscent of that environment. The colors could be more interesting, and the scale detail is a bit to elephantine in some areas, but is exectuted well.

Species:Acrocanthosaurus atokensis
Etymology: High Spined Reptile(Acros+Acanthos+Saurus), specifically refering to the Atoka area where it was found.
Company:PNSO
Sculptor:Zhao Chuang
Scale:1:35-40
Released:2022
Aesthetic Rank:5
Accuracy Rank:5
Summary: PNSO's best figure so far. All of the memorable and manifold qualities of the company can be observed in this figurine. The hulking, robust yet constrained form of the beast is adorned in lifelike scales. This is my first PNSO figure, and I got it in 2022 in June as an early Birthday gift. There is nothing lacksluster with this figure. The colorscheme could be more interesting, maybe dark greens and blacks with dry brushing and washes.

Additional Photographs:

Species:Tyrannosaurus rex
Etymology:From Greek Tyrannos(probably Pre-IE substrate)+Sauros. Specific name from Latin REX(King), which is related to English Rich, Regular, Straight, German Reich, Sanskrit/IA राजा , (King, leader) and its derivatives, all from the Indo-European root *hregjs, which refers to royal, regal, or administrative things, and often means cheif or king.
Company:Safari Ltd/Wild Safari
Sculptor:Doug Watson
Scale:1:35-40
Released:2017
Aesthetic Rank:5
Accuracy Rank:4
Summary: I don't want to cause a feather debate. Personally I like the idea of feathers on Tyrannosaurs as much as I like it bare. It makes more sense in my perspective than most other megafaunal theropods. It can be true, but I dont think I should be tbe decisive voice. There is also the problem of the gastralia, but it is not as noticeable. I have good memories with this figure. I obtained it in July 14th(?) of 2021. I remember my father let me go in a Michaels store, not expecting to find anything but cheaposaur dig kits. I have rarely seen any Safari figures in life, and it took an extra second to process. It looked as good, no, better than the photos. I bought it and took it home, and that started the whole thing of me biking to my local store everg few months.

Original post-2022
After some home renovation I have gotten new shelves. I'm aware I have made a collection thread prior to this, but that was long ago. There's been so much change since, as now I'm slowly saving and getting better figures from better companies.

There will be revising in the future but here is the current state of my collection.

New shelves are always exciting! Is that the CollectA Agustinia next to the Mojo Mamenchisaurus?

That is actually a cheaposaur I got 3 years ago. Now that I think of it, it might be a bootleg...but I didn't know at the time

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Nice little collection, I like the little stand you've given to the fluffy T rex. The Mojo sauropods look quite nice too.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

Lynx

these shelves are perfect looking in a way I can't describe  :))

Thanks, he used to stand amazing but now he got warped. So I made a base out of Daz clay(I don't recommend for sculpting new dinosaurs however.

Thanks very much. I think of shelves as decent, but perfect is very flattering : )

Stegotyranno420

By the way, if you are interested in what sort of shelves these are, these are more like organizers with the boxes token out.
They are very stable, easy to install, and multipurpose.
Here's an example of something similar, but not the exact one.

Very clever avatar_Stegotyranno420 @Stegotyranno420 - nice way to display your collection.

Faelrin

That shelf idea is a good one. Pretty similar to one of my display shelves (the white one in my collection threads that my BotM figures were on), but without the boxes.

Also the humble beginnings of a newer collection. Enjoy the simpler times and smaller size, while it's a thing, despite the yearnings for more. Having my stuff in storage now, has given me a new appreciation for it, and I think come in the future I will keep my displays smaller and cycle things out.

Lastly when did you pick up the Papo Spinosaurus? I remember you wanting that for years. Glad to see you got it finally.

I love the shelf of favorite figures, it's a good idea and something of like to do one day. Is that the Mojo Mandschurosaurus at the back? I know you had it, but it looks repainted.

I will like to have a simple amount for most of my time. Maybe 20-30 high quality figures total. Seems like alot but my friend Andy has probably 1000
As for the Papo Spinosaurus, I got it from a very special person. I was thinking of posting it on recent acquisitions but it's been a long time and I forgot

Yes I modified it to be like an Edmontosaurus regalis.

New pictures, and I am thinking of doing a collection tour series, similar to other members, explaing opinions, accuracies, info, etc. They will be merged into the OP

Congrats on your acquisitions. I still need to pick up that Acrocanthosaurus at some point. Well plus loads of other PNSO figures I'm behind on (Dunkleosteus, etc).

Thank you for your compliments everyone.
These are the books I would be using.
I have to return the Princeton Field Guide to my library on the 31st. Hoepfully I could get all my main figures photographs done by that point

Halichoeres

Oh wow, you're going very in-depth on etymology! I stay pretty proximate on the root words myself. Do you want to be a linguist one day?

And do you have a Petco in biking distance?

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres
I actually would like to be a linguistics professor. I have been studying languages and making semi-plausible theories since 6th grade. But I think it has even less of a chance to help me sustain my family than history. In truth I want to be a paleo-artist, but the competition is high and income is usually low. As of now, history seems like the best choice.
As for the PetCo, I do have a Pet Smart, but I am pretty sure they lack the Safari Figures Pet Co has. But I will soon be able to drive. I could go down to the next city and get me some of them goodies.
