I like the Neovenator very much. I don't like the CollectA one at all. The Favorite at least in my case manages to keep itself balanced without its base and even with its "pizza" coloration it looks pretty great.

Faelrin

I should have mentioned this earlier, but for what it's worth, I don't own a single figure in the poll here. Everything I voted for is either stuff I'd like to own, or wanted to at one point (like the Eofauna Gigantosaurus).

I like pizza, and also on the up side, the somewhat outlandish coloration sure makes it a standout.

Fembrogon

For what it's worth, I DID vote for the Favorite Giga; and I don't have Collecta's version of Neovenator either, but I still voted for it and a couple of others I don't own.

I think the Carnegie Concavenator is really underrated, along with many of Forest Rogers' sculpts. It's SUCH a shame their sculpts went under-appreciated while they were doing dinosaurs because many of the nitpicks I've often seen given were so negligible in hindsight. I really love the head on it.

On the other hand, I do think the PNSO Carcharodontosaurus is overrated to those outside of the forum, or at least the laypeople who don't know the skull is outdated. Even past the skull, its silhouette always bothered me for some odd reason I can't pinpoint it. The same goes for the Allosaurus from that same kind of era after PNSO's scale detail revamp.

The regular-size PNSO Yangchuanosaurus deserves so much more, easily one of PNSO's best releases before they started wreaking havoc.

I think Haolonggood's Carcharodontosaurus deserves top spot. PNSO's Acrocanthosaurus, Giganotosaurus, and Meraxes I'd put up there too.
On and off dinosaur collecting phases over the span of millions of years has led me to this very forum.

Would've voted for the Hammond Collection concavenator, but it's not here. Shame becuase it's definitely a one-of-a-kind for what it is.

Sim

I'm sorry to those wishing Hammond Collection figures were in the poll, but I don't understand why the suggestions come AFTER the shortlist period, except for in Faelrin's case as he explained it.  It seems to always be like this, the shortlist period is open and hardly any suggestions come in, the voting period starts and people start suggesting figures!  I think the HC figures wouldn't make the top 10 though so I'm not worrying about them not being in the poll.

On a different note, the WS Carcharodontosaurus has an accurate head, but it only has one vote funnily enough.  Maybe because it's let down by inaccurate teeth.  The WS Giganotosaurus has surprised me with how well it's doing, I think it's a pretty poor figure, of the same quality as the 2008 WS Allosaurus which no-one seems to care about.  Is the WS Giganotosaurus only popular because it was released along with a large range of excellent WS figures?

To be fair avatar_Sim @Sim, you only reset this poll just over a week ago and left it open for less than a week. And since this is an old thread from 2020 I can see how people maybe didn't realize what was happening here. I didn't realize what you were doing with the poll until it was already too late to suggest anything. I personally think that starting every poll from scratch would have been the better way to go, give people two weeks or so to make an entirely new short list, then start the poll. But that's just me.

Sim

This forum's top 10 poll guidelines suggest leaving the shortlist phase open for a week or so, and I did just that.  It seems like a fair amount of time to leave it open and after days of no-one making any posts I got the impression no-one was going to suggest anything new.

I put in capital letters that a new shortlist was taking place right at the start of the thread title, I'm not sure how one can be clearer than that.  If you think I should've started a new thread, since the subject would be the same, would people still have not understood what was happening, following what you suggested?

In any case, I've now added the Hammond Collection Concavenator to the poll, so if you'd like to vote for it you can now!

You're right. But on that note I once had a woman come into PetSmart (where I was working) thinking it was Walmart and when I told her otherwise she proceeded to argued with me about it, all while I was wearing a PetSmart shirt and taking care of live animals. So I don't presume to know what the forum experience of other people is like or what is clear to others. All I'm trying to do is figure out why people are late to the party on this poll.  Speaking for myself, although I'm here multiple times per day I don't always look at every thread. And I imagine it's the same for other people too and some of them probably don't stop by daily, or even weekly.

Sim

Just a polite note that if you'd like to vote for the Hammond Collection Concavenator and have already voted, you can remove your vote to vote for the HC figure (and anything else).

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim Thanks for adding it. I'll reconsider my picks, because I have this one on the way to me soon. I think I may wait to have it in hand before I do so though.

Flaffy

I'm surprised the Favorite Concavenator and Neovenator have so few votes. Maybe it's due to their general inaccessibility?

Fembrogon

That was my hunch; I didn't vote for either myself, although I was tempted. I think it's a lot easier to vote for a figure when I have a better awareness of or familiarity with it.
Neither of those figures even have reviews on the main blog yet.

Baryonyx

Sorry to suggest late but the Vitae Chilantaisaurus is definitely worth a place on the poll

Sim

This poll only includes definite allosauroids, Chilantaisaurus isn't one.

Here it is, maybe cheese and green peppers, alongside the PNSP Pinacosaurus, also a striking figure. The two make a noteworthy pair, IMO.

It's companion piece on the nearby dish, Favorite's Concavenator, behind the PNSO Tuojiangosaurus. These two Favorite pieces are pretty obscure, even among DTF members:

That Concavenator looks so nice but I feel that I'll never be able to get it he

Most of my Favorite acquisitions have come from either Brett or through eBay if the prices were sort of okay, though the 2004's and 2013's were purchased from the Black Hills Institute.

Sim

I'm not sure what to make of the Wild Safari Giganotosaurus having the same number of votes as the Carnegi Giganotosaurus...
