Somewhat superior design for the former versus superior nostalgia for the latter resulting in a momentary balance?

I love(d) both of them but I give the trophy to Carnegie's.

Sim

I voted for the:
1. Battat Acrocanthosaurus, the first good non-Allosaurus allosauroid figure, which even now has an impressive size and impressive sculpting.
2. Carnegie Giganotosaurus, still a beautiful figure and the first good Giganotosaurus figure.
3. Carnegie Sinraptor, a very nice little figure!
4. Favorite Neovenator, if only Favorite's regular releases were as good as this figure.
5. Haolonggood Carcharodontosaurus, currently the largest theropod figure I own, the painting on this figure is amazing and the sculpt is very nice too.
6. PNSO Acrocanthosaurus, this figure is awesome!  A very nice size to it too!
7. PNSO 2023 Giganotosaurus, the best Giganotosaurus figure and the results of the poll are agreeing with this!
8. PNSO Sinraptor, it's surprising to me how good this figure is!
9. PNSO large Yangchuanosaurus, still a great figure and it has lips!

I wasn't expecting PNSO to release another allosauroid after their Meraxes.  I think it's too late to add the PNSO Mapusaurus to this poll, similar to how the CollectA feathered Tyrannosaurus was known about when the top 10 Tyrannosaurus figures poll was being made but it had to miss out on being included in the poll.  It might have even got first place in that poll!  And maybe the PNSO Mapusaurus would get first place in this poll, but I think it will need to wait for the next version of this poll if it happens.

Sim

Well, there is a top 10 in this poll, but a number of places are shared by two figures, including first and second place!  If you haven't voted yet, please do, it might help break the ties! :)

Sim

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin did you manage to vote for the Hammond Collection Concavenator?

Fembrogon

I updated my votes to include the HC Concavenator & the large PNSO Yangch instead of the two Collectas I previously voted for - not that this helps the top listings, of course.  ::)

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim Thanks for the reminder. I forgot to come back and re-vote. Will do so now. Won't be breaking the tie either I'm afraid. Also would it be too late/too early to add the PNSO Mapusaurus? I would like to vote for that one now too. Kind of unfortunate this poll was underway when that figure dropped. Really hope they don't go and do yet another as it will mess this up more lol.

Edit: Knocked off the Papo Acrocanthosaurus in place for the Mattel Concavenator.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin, it is too late to include the PNSO Mapusaurus.  I would be very surprised if that figure wouldn't be in the top 10, and I think it could even get first place!  I think at this point many people won't want to vote another time on this poll.  So I want the PNSO Mapusaurus to have a fair chance, and to leave it for the next version of this poll, which can happen after five years have passed from the making of the top 10 video.

I see that the PNSO Acrocanthosaurus is in first place alone now!  If there are no more changes, we have our top 10!

Eatmycar

I can't lie - little disappointed how Mattel's concavenator is so low, but that's the nature of the board I suppose. I'm mostly just shocked the Wild Safari giga isn't higher in the rankings to be honest.

Sim

I'm surprised the WS Giganotosaurus has placed so high. :P  Also, now the first place is shared by three figures!  But there's still a top 10!

Faelrin

avatar_Sim @Sim That's fair enough. This poll already looks to consist of some tough competiton already anyways even without it.

I'm hopeful we'll be able to complete this poll successfully now that I'm making Dinosaur Toy Blog videos!  I've updated the shortlist in the first post, which now includes all the more recent PNSO allosauroids.  Is there anything that should be added to the shortlist?  Maybe something from Mattel?  I'll reset and launch this poll in a week!

How does this work now? I see that you updated the first post, but the poll is not updated and is closed for voting. Will there be a new poll?

Sim

Yes, I'll update the poll and open it for voting in a week.  Until then people can suggest anything missing from the shortlist.

Sim

I've updated the poll with the new PNSO figures and it's now open for voting!  Once there are enough votes I'll make the top 10 video for this poll and a top 10 poll for something different can be made! :)

Faelrin

I see someone had only voted for 2 figures (Papo and Rebor Acrocanthosaurus) prior to me voting. I wonder did they intend to vote for only those 2 figures or hit submit early by mistake?

Anyways I voted for a near straight shot of PNSO from last year (Giganotosaurus, Mapusaurus, Meraxes, Saurophaganax, although that feels like cheating a bit since it is mostly A. fragilis with another name, and Yangchuanosaurus magnus), plus PNSO Acrocanthosaurus, Carnegie Concavenator, HC Concavenator, Haolonggood Carcharodontosaurus, and Rebor Acrocanthosaurus, although certainly beat out by PNSO's, but the Tenontosaurus carcass and diorama deal, when completed with the other 2 relevent sets still has me fond of this one.

SidB

One each of Carnegie, Eofauna, Favorite and HLG, plus six PNSO's got my votes.

Sim

It's remarkable how far we've come since the Battat Acrocanthosaurus, which was once considered the best allosauroid figure and was very rare and sought after.  Now there are many great allosauroid figures, which are also much better than the Battat figure.

Pachyrhinosaurus

Voted for the Battat Acro, the Carnegies, DOC Yangchuanosaurus, and the WS Giganotosaurus. Probably the same as what I voted for the first time around.

Concavenator

I voted for:

- Acrocanthosaurus (PNSO)
- Concavenator (Carnegie)
- Meraxes (PNSO)
- Sinraptor (Vitae)
- Yangchuanosaurus shangyouensis (PNSO)
