avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin my bad!
Is anyone else hoping they make a megaraptoran soon? Imo megaraptorans only really work well with lips, so now that they've made the switch I'd love to see their take on a genus like orkoraptor or maip, especially given the latter's relatively new discovery and large size. Tbh we don't really have any good megaraptoran figures, at least in or near 1/35 scale, apart from haolonggood's but given their carno and allo I'm skeptical about it that one will have lips. I've seen some people argue that we do t have enough material for a good figure, but although to my knowledge we don't have any super complete specimens, we do have enough material across different species to get a good idea of what the group looked like overall, my favorite example is this composite skeletal by T. K. Robinson:

Quote from: Carnoking on September 26, 2023, 08:49:15 PMPNSO's work is still much more lifelike to me even if a bit duller in the color department. HAOLONGGOOD has produced an amazing variety of highly affordable and well-made models in a short amount of time, but I think they've still got a ways to go before they completely dethrone PNSO, especially when it comes to producing theropods.
My words 3xactly. And they ought to fix the eyes as well

avatar_DefinitelyNOTDilo @DefinitelyNOTDilo I wouldn't be surprised if they released a Maip. Let's be realistic, at this point, if it's a big carnivorous theropod, chances are there, when PNSO is concerned. If they were to make a megaraptoran I'd rather they chose Megaraptor though. But hey, at least Haolonggood has plans for it.

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator I definitely would have mentioned megaraptor but opted not to because of hlg's lol.

Quote from: Lynx on September 25, 2023, 02:06:57 PMShockingly I really like this figure, which is a first ever since the theropod surge came! Might try and get it actually depending on the price. Nice to see a good Sauro on the market.

The Saurophaganax MSRP is USD $42.99, or $30.99 today for those who use the "dtfmember" checkout code at Dan's Dinosaurs.

What the hell

Why would you chop them up watching the whole thing dissolve in the acid at one time is way more fun

It doesn't seem like PNSO interacts with fans the way Haolonggood does, but I think a fun response to Haolonggood dropping a Daspletosaurus so soon after PNSO's is for them to make an updated Carnotaurus.
They could show off the improvement in sculpt from their 2020 release, as well as trumping Haolonggood's offering with the over-developed Caudofemoralis, the splint-like metacarpal VI, and lips.

DefinitelyNOTDilo

I recently saw a theory that tbh makes a fair bit of sense as to why pnso had done so many theropods in a row. Basically the idea is that once the new paper arguing for lips dropped and pnso changed their mind, they rushed all of their theropods that had been designed prior to the paper into production so that they could make the switch to lips asap.

That's coevolution for you!  ;) The Red Queen hypothesis sums it up perfectly:

As the caption says, it's fascinating how this idea goes beyond biology and can be applied to essentially any field you can think of: clothing manufacturing, technological advances, and so on, including, why not prehistoric animal figure manufacturing industry!

Paleofiguras posted some in hand photos of the Saurophaganax. Appears a bit darker to me than the promotional images. But this could be a light effect as well.
