I guess that's not a surprise, she's moving on to bigger and better things.

Flaffy

Huh. With Jenna Ortega out of the picture that changes things, now I can actually see them killing off the character.

Could be a matter of her gone for the first season, or gone altogether. A bit of a dark and unexpected turn considering the last series.

Coloration on the Suchomimus looks nice. Looking a tad bit better then the FK Baryonyx too. That said I do still prefer the og design (like viral website art, and used in the JWE games). Speaking of JWE games, hope all the new designs (as variants) and species get added. It might anger some folks considering the poor reception of the CC DLC already. Granted brand new variants are much better then a few skins like the CC initially did until a patch changed that.

So far the new species includes:
-Becklespinax
-Majungasaurus
-Pachyrhinosaurus
-Suchomimus

Other species from the trailer (some of these are expected tbh):
-Allosaurus (specifically the one from BaBR)
-Atrociraptor
-Baryonyx
-Tyrannosaurus

Probably in the show, but not seen yet:
-Ceratosaurus (new design for mainline toy, and a mini)
-Parasaurolophus lux (from the new mainline toy)

There's also a new CT mini set that also includes:
-Ankylosaurus
-Gallimimus
-Kentrosaurus Pierce (with correct colors, compared to last year's figure)
-Mosasaurus
-Nasutoceratops
-Pteranodon
-Sinoceratops
-Stegosaurus (one of the CC designs)
-Stygimoloch

Some of these could be filler though (and notably the Pachyrhinosaurus, Suchomimus, and Parasaurolophus lux are not included), but the Mosasaurus being included is suspicious at best.

Surprised Mattel hasn't done a new Suchomimus too. Maybe next year? Last one was in 2019 too. On a similar note they never did the Tarbosaurus, Smilodon, or Spinoceratops. Can't have a complete species collection without them (or the Oviraptor, and Microceratus from Dominion).

Edit: Finished watching the trailer. So things to note:

Brooklyn is there at the beginning, being chased by the Allosaurus.

Allosaurus seems like the main threat for this particular season other then the Atrociraptor squad. It can be seen in the scene where the new Pachyrhinosaurus design is shown, and several others. Well I suppose that is obvious what with the branding for the new Chaos Theory toys, and why we got a new electronic Allosaurus, and an upcoming Super Colossal one.

It's quite frustrating how Mattel is so non-chalant about producing the most obscure fragmentary genera with basically zero ties to the franchise, yet refuse to give us species that actually DO appear on screen. ???

Same goes for all the unnecessary remakes too like Irritator (3 versions), Herrerasaurus (3 versions), Monolophosaurus (3 versions).

Nice! Reminds me of JP's "toy collector cards": https://chasmosaurs.com/2023/06/14/vintage-dinosaur-art-jurassic-park-toy-collector-cards/

It's unfortunate, but understandable, given both how busy Ortega is & how dangerous Brooklyn's job is. BTW, as a 2000s wrestling fan, whenever I think of Brooklyn, I think of Cryme Tyme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmbKunIIeZw

I thought Herrerasaurus only had two versions? Point still stands though. And yeah a bit unfortunate and frustrating. Hope they get out there someday. Same with needing a better Dominion/Demon Carnotaurus, Moros, and the Dominion Parasaurolophus (preferably HC for both). At least Giganotosaurus, Therizinosaurus, and Pyroraptor seemed to have been addressed now.

Edit: avatar_Quiversaurus @Quiversaurus I didn't even think of the potential for new Ania figures. Hope we see some soon.

V.3, lips on the old sculpt. I cannot comprehend why they went back to the old sculpt yet decide to give it lips.

Faelrin

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy Oh I never even noticed that. Well thanks for pointing it out. I also just noticed it has all five digits on the feet. Something not included on the original design (which only had three I think).

l need that Captivz Altispinax

Carnoking

I have serious doubts that they killed off Brooklyn, and if I were a betting man I'd say this season ends with the group finding her prisoner somewhere.

As far as the question of voice casting goes, even if getting Jenna Ortega back was out of the question, I can't help but feel like recasting her would be an easy fix seeing as these characters are older now and probably wouldn't sound the exact same they did as kids anyway. Case in point, it's so weird to hear Ben's same high pitched voice coming out of someone that big!

I have a feeling you might be right. They basically did that with Ben. And I agree that voice recasting would be fine in this instance.

Quote from: Faelrin on March 28, 2024, 07:43:36 PMPretty sure I was able to spot the new (Altispinax) Becklespinax around the 50 sec mark (when it hits the vehicle). Kind of Concavenator like, which is a recent interpretation of it. Still I wonder why they went with something so fragmentary, an outdated name, and not just use Concavenator instead? Hmm, but maybe we wouldn't have gotten that beautiful Frontier adaption in JWE2 recently if that was the case.

Well, the Pyroraptor is fragmentary too and they gave that a film role, and the name is probably the same case as the raptors in the original novel- They wanted to go with what they thought sounded cooler.
I do prefer the name Becklespinax too, somehow...

I'm so happy with its design. The teeth are unfortunate, but everything else is great for a JW design.

The Suchomimus looks great too, I have NO idea why they didn't just use the website design- it's THE most popular Suchomimus design EVER.
Even Schleich based their Baryonyx off of it (and their Edmontosaurus off of its website design, too).
Oh well, at least it looks good. How come it has little tusks though?

It sucks that voice actors are still being treat unfairly.

The Beckelspinax is gorgeous. IDC that it's an invalid genus. The head reminds me of the CollectA Torvosaurus, which I love!

The head reminds me very much of eustreptospondylus!

Captivz Eggs Pachyrhinosaurus revealed.

Forgot to add this but it's interesting how dinosaurs which starred into movies outside of the Jurassic franchise, such as Iguanodon and Carnotaurus, which appeared in Disney's "Dinosaur" and Pachyrhinosaurus in the WWD movie eventually made their way into the Jurassic franchise. Is it the reason why they eventually appeared in the franchise or is it a pure coincidence?

DefinitelyNOTDilo

In the case of carnotaurus, it was actually originally gonna be in jp3, but they replaced it with ceratosaurus when Disney's Dinosaur came out.
