Here comes the mighty Moeritherium! First look here at the 1/18th scale unpainted prototype for the lovable basal proboscidean, sculpted by Ross Persichetti.

Oh boy. So there's quite a bit more I need to share. Prices. The adult is $200 and the baby is $35. There's an exclusive snowy variant set of the adult and baby Woolly mammoth for $225.



Also here's the sizes of the figures too (and other info):

Adult Woolly mammoth:

Each 1/18th Scale Wooly Mammoth will include three sets of interchangeable tusks, adult-male,
adult female, and battle-damaged.

STATS:

• 11 inches long (14 inches with tusks)
• 9 inches high
• 24 points of articulation

Baby Woolly mammoth:

STATS:

• 3.5 inches long
• 2.5 inches high
• 18 points of articulation

Looks like there might be more stretch goals on the way, after the initial three that were revealed. Edit: Flaffy beat me to the punch as I was adding that here.

Hm, am I the only one who thinks 200 seems a little steep for the mammoth? IIRC, that's roughly what the 1/18 rex cost during the Kickstarter and it's nearly double the size! Seems like this mammoth is more comparable in size to the 90 dollar body range of Ceratopsians, unless the 4 additional points of articulation are enough to justify that 110 dollar difference!

Hopefully I'm not the only one deterred by sticker shock. Looks like they've got even more as of yet undisclosed figures planned (unless I missed something).  On top of the three others revealed thus far, that's a long way to go even after reaching that initial 185,000 dollar goal.

I wonder what the other three yet to be revealed figures are. Also I don't see an option to pledge for the Gomphotherium, Platybelodon or Moeritherium?

Ya, I was considering the Gomoptherium but that is a steep price. I think I will get the Moeritherium only.

@Flaffy Since those later three are stretch goals they won't be able to be pledged for (or added on to a pledge) until they get unlocked. The adult mammoth and baby have to come first.

@Carnoking Kind of feeling the same. That said I wonder if the price tag is because of the included extra tusk parts though? I pledged for the baby for now as I feel $200 for the adult might be a bit of my league unless a miracle happens (even if I do want it really badly).

Edit: I'm not familiar with backerkit either, but it doesn't seem like there's a way to directly comment on the campaign itself without creating a thread? I think kickstarter would have been a bit more preferable in this regard, as it helped build excitement around the campaign, and folks with questions (outside the FAQ) were able to get help much quicker from other backers.

Yeah, I don't know if that's enough to justify the uptick for me. Sure, the ceratopsians didn't come with extra pieces or bases (except for the 1/18 trike) but the Tyrannosaurs all had interchangeable feet parts and bases, and only the big rex itself broke the 200 mark. Not sure what's going on here but it's just not worth it to me at that price unfortunately.

@Carnoking Actually now that I think about it, it might be a result of being a mix between Eons and Creative Beast (not just the additional tusks). If it was directly through Creative Beast it would probably be on the cheaper side. I forgot about those other details for the ceratopsians and the big T. rex.

That said the campaign did just launch (with a delay), and has already cleared $10k so it is starting to move along. The initial campaign goal is under $200k and has 30 days so this may be doable.

The first few days (and last) are also when the campaign moves the most (until stretch goals unlock), so hopefully the campaign can be funded within the first week.

I think offering 1/35 adult (and baby) would have been helpful too (like David did for the Tyrannosaur campaign) for folks without as much funds or space. Edit: As a middle ground tier. I think they really need something there between the $35 and $200. I reached out on the latest instagram post about it. Don't know how feasible it would be for them to do, but I think it would be a nice option for folks to have.

Yes, I somewhat anticipated the collaboration aspect of this line to inflate the prices, although perhaps not by that much.

I also wonder if these sculptures, being created for this collaboration, might be exclusives and not appear in David's independent lines as their own releases, be that Beasts of the Cenozoic or Cyberzoic.

I agree. I don't want just a baby mammoth, but I can't realistically afford to drop $200+ on the adult either. I expect the others will be in the $150-175 range if/when they release. Going to have to sit this one out for now.

Do we have any idea why it's not a Kickstarter this time? I've never used Backerkit before. KS was fairly easy to navigate.

I suspect that manufacturing and materials have gone up in price. Recent restocks of PNSO and Haolonggood are maybe 20% more expensive than a few months ago, and Collecta prices seem to have jumped up a good deal too. I'm backing the set for now, and will adjust my pledge if that Moeritherium gets unlocked!

I think the most ludicrously priced one is the baby tbh. Adult makes sense. It's massive, bulkier than the Rex, and has swappable tusks. The baby is tiny and comes with nothing.

I'm sure there are lots of good reasons for the price increase, but at the end of the day, $200 is out of my price range. Especially for a woolly mammoth, which has lot of good representation in toy form already and will likely have many more in the coming years. I'll check back in on prices if more figures get unlocked, but until then, I'm sitting this one out.

I just wish the Eons team would reveal the prices for the a couple of the initial stretch goals from the get-go like how David does with his campaigns, so that backers can plan ahead accordingly or even pledge in advance for them.

Like @Dusty Wren and others I cannot justify spending $200 on another Woolly Mammoth when I already have the fantastic (and static!) Carnegie & TNG versions. I am happy for those who can afford the articulated Mammoth though, it's certainly leagues ahead of the competition (Playmobil & ANIA).

I'm certainly willing to splurge on a Platybelodon and Moeritherium though

Those totals are only for the launch day. Cyberzoic ended slightly higher than the Tyrannosaurs.
