Quote from: PoptartDoodle on October 15, 2024, 07:42:26 PMIt sucks about the Argentinosaurus paywall to get Huayangosaurus because I'm still unsure I have the funds or space for it, but it's not the end of the world.
Though it has me worried about the remaining ceratopsids on their catalog, as well as having to look at future catalogs they release with a grain of salt since it seems any small model could get sucked into a large sauropod exclusive purchase.

That is a real dilema because I would need more pics and videos to decide which version to get, and by the time I setle my choice, no gifts anymore :(
But I guess I don't want them as much as other people.

The easy way to be certain is to contact Everything Dinosaur directly about how the taxes work. They regularly export and will know what happens. However, I don't think thomasw100's interpretation is correct.

Yes, I would like to know that. Those re-shippings from Lana or Everything Dinosaur (that is not now UE) are very expensive to my country and have to go through Customs.
I would like to know if there is the possibility to preorder from Aliexpress (as other figures could) so I could know the shipping costs and the total price, taxes included.

For people residing in the EU ordering from Everything Dinosaur is kind of pointless. You pay customs fees twice. First you pay indirectly for the charges that Everything Dinosaur has to pay upon import from China. Then you pay customs fees once more for import from the United Kingdom into the EU. You could contact Speelboer in the Netherlands. They are the Haolonggood reseller in the EU actually.

Are you sure about that ?
Because I thought you only paid taxes once.
And comparing the prices between Lana and Everythingdinosaurs, they seem even (if you don't have to pay taxes from UK).
However things could change with this heavy Argentinosaurus, maybe it will be cheaper with Everythingdinosaur this time, instead of rail shipping from China ?

Has anyone in the US preordered the Argentinosauus from Lana Time, and if so, what was your shipping cost?

Lana's website says, "All prices don't include shipping fees, which will need to be paid before shipment.
Due to the large size of the item, shipping to the U.S. will be by sea, with shipping fees estimated between $90 to $100",
but at checkout, my shipping cost was "FREE".

Does that mean the shipping cost will be applied later, and if so, what is the shipping cost?

Hmm, that's about what I paid to ship Alamosaurus, but this one looks like it's got a few pounds on ol' Alamo.

I remember saying outloud "Yeah, right" when I saw that "FREE" shipping.  Lana really should state something more accurate, like TBD instead of free, which implies there will be no charge for shipping.  As you mention avatar_Samrukia @Samrukia, the statement is there that the charge will be $90-100, but the "FREE" in the shipping box probably fools some people and sets up a rude surprise for those less wary souls.  ???

GUYS:

Thanks for clarifying the Argentinosaurus shipping.

The "$90-$100" shipping cost was sticker shock to me. :o

I bought the Alamosaurus from Lana, but I forgot about the shipping cost added later.

There are multiple points on the ordering page clearly stating that shipping is not included in the preorder price. Even the shipping dropdown menu only lists "Excluding shipping" as the only option.

I would not be surprised if the payment page is set up to where the only method for Lana to not charge customers shipping at the present moment is by listing it as "FREE". I've seen a few independent shops reportedly being unable to alter hard coded stuff like these which unfortunately leads to confusion.

The best way to avoid these scenarios is by simply reading the listing and item descriptions carefully before comitting to a purchase.

I caved in and ordered a purple version from Lanatime. I'll just have to make room. I only have a few sauropods in my collection and they're on the smaller side. I'm very excited to see this beast! At least I won't be charged for shipping until its released at the end of next month. I was saving money for Papo but their releases have been delayed so who knows how long I will have to wait.

I confess that I have actually ordered two. I was quite sure about the green-gray one (HLG-131) right when the first promotional imagines came out. So I ordered this one as soon as Lana Time Shop opened the pre-order. Then this frenzy about the purple started and from the promotional images I felt that I would like this one as well because it looks a bit different from the plainer green-gray and blue-gray variants. The first 10 were gone right away but then more became available. So I ordered one. But then more pictures and videos appeared and the purple looked increasingly pale in overall color impression, so I changed my order to the brown one.

The photos available so far are terrible. The beach lineup in sunlight is too bright for all models.

I've found two decent photos of the purple version that made it slightly more appealing then the dark green one for me.

Quote from: triceratops83 on October 10, 2024, 04:44:31 PMWhat the hell? I tried to order the brown Argentinosaurus, and even though I've ordered from Lana plenty of times before they suddenly won't ship to my address. I even tried my P.O. box address. Since when does China not ship to Australia? I even have current orders from them. Really annoyed. Guess I won't get that Huayangosaurus. Surely shipping to Australia from Asia is less problematic than to the rest of the world?  >:(

Phew! Just tried again before the deadline and this time it worked! Looks like I'll be getting that Huayangosaurus. Now when I wake up in the morning I'll have to justify to myself a $300AUD toy dinosaur, without shipping even. Doesn't matter though - a 1/35 scale model of the largest dinosaur is going to be the coolest thing ever!
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

I had been heavily debating between 001, 129 and 130 and weighing their strengths & weaknesses.

129's more blended in "beak" looks more natural, and the fleshy pink highlights reminds me of asian elephant pigmentation. A very pleasant and safe choice overall. It's presence on the sauropod ensemble poster may score some points for it as the "cannon" colour scheme.

130 looks absolutely stunning in some lighting while iffy in others. The initial beach promo pics show it being a lovely brick red, with subtle gradients and smooth transitions between colours. However in other lighting conditions (see unboxing vid & lightbox pics), the colour scheme is more a mottled brown, with a noticeably paler underbelly than initial images suggest. Not a huge fan of this harsher contrast.

001 is essentially a deluxe version of 130. Big bold and flashy. While I usually prefer more conservative colour schemes, I feel that for a figure of this magnitude, I want something that stands out on the shelf, a centrepiece of the collection. My only critique of this colour scheme is that it gets a bit too busy aroud the head region. The beak's base colour could've been painted purple too for a more cohesive presentation. In the scenario where I truly am not a fan of this colour scheme once it arrives, I don't imagine having much trouble selling it off since it's a very limited exclusive (unless EverythingDinosaur somehow manages to secure like 50 copies of 001).

I'm leaning toward the 131 green version so far.
It does not have as much contrast as the other, but I find it more pleasing overall, and I don't have green sauropods, and actually very few green dinosaurs so far, although this is one of the classic colors for their representations (accurate or not).

I have the grey Rebor diplodocus, the blue Mamenchisaurus, brown Brachiosaurus hopefully, so green Argentinosaurus seems feeting.

I just wish we could have better pics before the 18th of october.

Even if they get another 50 or 100 copies, for a mass produced item under 200 units is a insanely limited production run for global sale. Only possible from a financial point of view since the product will be sold in higher volume with different color schemes.

Limited dinosaur figures have not been a thing so far, but I think with the notoriety a 1:35 huge titanosaur model might create if a success I fear someone might get ideas. I hope not.

For such things there is a very small number of extremely talented artists making custom dinosaurs, they deserve their share of the market not to be put under pressure by artificially scarce collectors items - makers like Haolonggood etc do great quality, but it is no where close to what a good custom figure can do, mass production never will since mass producing means removing that trained human touch.

Paleo Flo

In between I decided not to get the Argentino.
I would save the money for a potential release of the Brachiosaurus/Giraffatitan.

I'd like to see a Haolonggood giraffatitan, though I think the W dragon one will be tough to beat. It's only weakness is a maybe too thin profile and elephantine instead of the correct scaly skin.

The dark green is definitely my favorite with the purple one, it is like a upgraded version of the classic Papo brachiosaurus.

triceratops83

I think someone mentioned a while ago Dreadnoughtus, but if Haolonggood does any more supersized Sauropods, I hope they avoid Titanosaurs. Brachiosaurus seems likely, but others that would cool would be Barosaurus, Sauroposeidon and maybe (if you're into really fragmentary specimens) Maraapunisaurus. I think something like Bruhathkayosaurus is superfluous after Argentinosaurus.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.
