The CollectA Nanuqsaurus arrived for me today!! Incredible little figure. It's 6 inches long, so larger than I thought it would be but man, I'm so glad they went with a color scheme like this. I absolutely despise a lot of CollectA's paint applications since they make an otherwise incredible sculpt look mediocre/cheap, but the Nanuqsaurus has a great one; brown overall with white patches in logical places, as well as dark accents, it's pretty nice. The teeth are cleanly painted and the solid black eyes have a bit of gloss as well.

As mentioned, the only downside is the tripod tail, but if that's what it takes to get it to stand, then I am okay with that. Plumage looks good, and fingers and toes are well sculpted.

It's labeled as "Nanuqsaurus - stalking" so I guess that opens up the line to other poses like other figures have had.

I might actually buy a second one, the price is great. And now we wait for Safari's Nanuqsaurus!

The full 2024 range is now available at DeJankins: https://www.dejankins.com/collectadeluxe (Nanuqsaurus is on the CollectA Standard page).

However, Dean himself appears to be on vacation, so no shipping until September.

I just realized that the black on the Nanuqsaurus's face could be an adaptation to protect its eyes from glare in the snow. Kind of like how baseball players paint black under their eyes.

I hated the figure in the promo shots but purchased it anyways and I honestly love the little guy! It scales with the Kaiyodo Ornithomimus too, def will be shooting pics with it come winter.

Glad to hear it pleasantly surprised you!

Dakotaraptor and Prionosuchus seem to be to big if scales are right

Those scales seem off for how big those two are yeah. Prionosuchus in particular, that thing was almost as long as Sarcosuchus. A 1:3 Prionosuchus would result in a whopping 3 meter long figure!

The others seems like an interesting mix. Looking forward to seeing if they're true or not. *Another* Mammut americanum on the market would be quite the coincidence... M. pacificus getting shafted again.

These leaked lists have usually proved to be true. Can't say I'm personally thrilled about another mastodon or Euoplocephalus, but that could change depending on how they look.

Prionosuchus, Supersaurus, Lystrosaurus, and Dakotaraptor are most welcome, though. Pentaceratops will presumably have butt fuzz.

And Dakotaraptor is most likely a maniraptoran of some sort, so it's silly to keep claiming it's a turtle.

didn't newer studies put Prionosuchus at 5.5m instead?

crazy8wizard

It could be based on the holotype which was less than 2 meters long. Granted, this specimen could be a juvenile, but there are indeed small specimens of Prionosuchus.

Dakotaraptor's remains were chimaeric, and the furcula was from a turtle. That's where that comes from. I'm not interested in buying such a genus, but the Prionosuchus, Supersaurus, and Lystrosaurus seem very interesting.

I like these rumour lists!  The species choices look like things CollectA might make.  However I really hope most of the scales aren't true, it would make some of these too big for me, such as Prionosuchus, Dakotaraptor and Euoplocephalus.  Speaking of the latter, it would be interesting if it's based on remains that are agreed to be Euoplocephalus (there are some), rather than those that have been argued to be Scolosaurus.  There isn't a Euoplocephalus figure like that, currently.  I would be fine with Supersaurus being in "1:100" scale though, it should still be a large figure and I find diplodocids very interesting.  I'm fully past disliking sauropods, now that a satisfactory basal sauropodomorph figure exists (the PNSO Lufengosaurus).  Now I even really like some sauropods, mostly diplodocids.

I would find it a bit disappointing if CollectA's prehistoric mammal this year is what is on the list, but I imagine they couldn't have known Eofauna would be releasing one too.  I'm surprised there are no British species on the list.  Where are Scelidosaurus and Eotyrannus, CollectA?

It's almost certainly a large dromaeosaurid.  Its tail vertebra having upper and lower bony rods shows it is either a dromaeosaurid or a rhamphorhynchid, Dave Hone has said they are the only animals known to have that configuration.  The size of the tail vertebra suggests it isn't a rhamphorhynchid, so a dromaeosaurid is all that's left.  Add to that that its ulna has quill knobs and isn't Anzu, which would fit a dromaeosaurid.  The evidence for it being a dromaeosaurid is really not unlikely.  As for its size, it would be Deinonychus-sized if its tail proportions are like those of that genus, but could approach Utahraptor size if the proportions of the tail are like that genus.

Lystrosaurus certainly tracks, being on the heels of Placerias and Lisowicia. I would be excited for one of those but a Prionosuchus would be a dream come true. Easily my most wanted prehistoric amphibian. All of these sound like choices CollectA would make, I'm optimistic about this list. Still hoping they eventually make Dryptosaurus to pair with the Hadrosaurus.

I know you probably meant Dryptosaurus, but honestly I'd really like to see a Dryosaurus from CollectA (Dryptosaurus would be great as well  :D ).
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.
