Recent Acquisitions

I've acquired:

1. PNSO Baryonyx.  I love this figure!  Having it in person, I observed its flanks look somewhat flattened, I genuinely don't see a problem with its torso.

2. Papo Dilophosaurus.  This replaces the Haolonggood Dilophosaurus in my collection.  It's not perfect but I like it the most out of all Dilophosaurus figures currently in existence, and I want to have a Dilophosaurus figure.

3. CollectA Ceratosuchops.  This is the third time it's entered my collection.  The first one I had had a loose lower jaw.  The second I got rid of as I disliked the jaw inaccuracy too much.  The third one... I customised!  I cut away the notch area to remove the erroneous teeth and I created a notch where it should have been.  Now it looks like a spinosaurid and I'm satisfied with it! ^-^

nice to hear about the baryonyx. From a pure aesthetic perspective I could take it or leave it. But there seems to be a lot of disagreement if it actually represents the material well. So still under decided if it will go on my shortlist.

Tattu

HLG Alamosaurus, Apatosaurus and Mamenchisaurus

Libraraptor

Wow, you got yourself some massive sauropod figures! Congratulations!

Thank you! I was grateful to find these at a great price

EmperorDinobot

avatar_Sim @Sim  the Papo Dilophosaurus is one of their best, that is for sure.

T @Tattu I envy the space hahaha, I have my sauropod pantheon, but it's looking very crowded these days.

EmperorDinobot

Well, they're here.

Just a bit of fun - and the target audience is definitely children, not the elderly!  An advent calendar spotted in a petrol station outlet for Marks & Spencer (a well known UK chain of supermarkets that deems itself rather "superior").  I'm not expecting the chocolates to be superior though!  I've not had an advent calendar in years.

Wow, the artwork on the calendar is really good avatar_ceratopsian @ceratopsian!  I like the choice of species too!

And quite modern and as far as I can see quite accurate representations of the dinosaurs.

ceratopsian

avatar_Sim @Sim and T @thomasw100 - yes, I was surprised at the modern appearance of the animals. Especially in view of the models that the NHM sells in its shop!  And I liked the addition of some foliage. Plus I have a soft spot for Patagotitan after the NHM exhibition.

EmperorDinobot

Patagotitan is HUGE. I saw it at the AMNH in 2019. I couldn't gauge which was bigger: The Argentinosaurus from the Fernbank Museum, or the traveling Patagotitan.

I like that they show accurate images of dinosaurs on such an item intended for children. A sign of respect for and appreciation of children rather than giving them some movie monster like images.

Sim

Yeah, Schleich and the Jurassic World franchise could learn from that!

My reaction exactly, they did not treat children as fools, I'm suprised of the care for accuracy.

I absolutely agree!

Schleich apparently had global sales of €275M in 2022 (with rising sales every year). https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230130005072/en/schleich%C2%AE-USA-Closes-2022-with-Double-Digit-Growth-Continues-to-Outpace-Toy-Industry*

I'm guessing they feel pretty good about what they're doing. Even if we don't care for it, we may not be the target market.

CityRaptor

"We have seen that we will repeat our mistakes if there's money on the table." - Colin Trevorrow in 2015. I would say that quote works in way too many situations, including this one.

Anyways: Got two more Sinclair tin signs.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

EmperorDinobot

We aren't, avatar_SBell @SBell , but outside of their dino stuff, everything else is fun.

Maybe I am the target audience?
