Quote from: oscars_dinos on November 22, 2024, 05:49:33 PMI've been traveling so pardon if this is old news but I got what I finally wanted but with a sad twist, I had been waiting for the Argentinasurus to show up on their amazon but after they did so the price is insane, all the gift cards I have wouldn't make a difference lol, curious on what everyone thinks, I'm holding out hope maybe lanatimes shop on amazon might be more reasonable but if anything I guess I'll bite the bullet and just get it on another site (ill take any recs on the cheapest site)

But why are you not directly ordering from Lana? I mean from their website? If you live in the US this should not be any problem.
I was just holding off on doing so because I had around 100 or so in amazon gift cards saved up, so amazon felt like the best option but now not so much :/

Now I understand. I am sure there will be a chance to use your gift cards for the next PNSO releases that sooner or later will come.

Oh for sure, I've had my eye on that pnso triceratops for years and was going to pull the trigger on it right before hlg released the Argentina, I just messaged Lanatime to see if they would find themselves in a similar situation when it comes to putting the Argentina on their amazon store... so lets see, if nothing comes from it my question still stands, what's the cheapest place to order it if I'm in the states.

Gotta wait to see what Happy Hen Toys is selling it for. They're the only domestic retailer of HLG figures outside of Dan's Dinosaurs and Amazon that I know of(?)
Only trade off is the extra wait time, and they're usually slightly more expensive than Lanatime but with the cost of shipping on such a massive figure overseas, they might be more evenly priced.

yeah just checked and lanatime did put it on their amazon store but with the shipping it would still cost me over 200, Ill deff look at dans dinos and maybe just wait for happy hen, has anyone reached out to them?

bmathison1972

I was just going to say, it's on HHT for $319.00 USD  :o

Well I'll be. Usually they're quick to send emails with new arrivals. Guess that answers that question, Lana is still cheaper by a fair shake!

Joliezac

I'm in the US, and even with Happy Hen's reduced shipping cost, in total with tax it would be $363.50... Lanatime's at the preorder cost + shipping cost me $274 (sea shipping).

I certainly think so. Not sure if Dan's Dinosaurs will be getting any but I highly doubt he would be the cheapest option.

I'm pretty sure hoping to get this model for under $200 is an unreasonable expectation

I only considered that because I have over 100 in gift cards, so I was more so hoping I would have to pay less than 200 to make the difference

Duna

A few months ago I got the oportunity to buy this 3 second-hand figures. I didn't intend to buy the Tlatolophus (it is not an species from my childhood and not a really remarkable new one) but it was cheap and looked good. In fact it is a very nice figure, I'm happy about it. The edmontosaurus could be the best edmontosaurus figure if it was not for the so small size and the Ampelosaurus ... is my first HLG sauropod.

Then I decided to get some more figures that I really wanted to and got the Mamenchisaurus and the Maiasaura.
The mamenchisaurus is perfect and heavier than I thought. I went for the brown (grey) because I always imagined mamenchisaurus as grey because of the other figures.

Maiasaura was first in my list because I didn't have an updated figure. And I love the colours, the purple tail and red dorso makes it stand among all brownish figures. The baby is just SO COOL (please all manufactures, make more baby figures!).

My first 2 HLG sauropods (and I plan to get more when I save a bit).

avatar_Duna @Duna Congrats! Will the Mamenchisaurus fit in your cabinet?

No, definitely not! It will be on a shelf in the same room. It shares the shelf with the Eofauna diplodocus and the ampelosaurus. I have ordered the Camarasaurus too and I have to try to fit it in the cabinet or it will go to the shelf and the Safari camarasaurus (that is in the cabinet will stay). I haven't made up my mind yet.

ceratopsian

I'm keen on the Maiasaura colours too. And I agree that more baby dinosaurs would be good!

Price of the Argentinosaurus at Lanatime has been lifted up significantly.
Now it costs 229,99 Dollars. That's it. I'm out at this one.

It really annoys me, because I came to the conclusion to order 131, the green one, just a few minutes ago  :(
But now the pricetag kills it for me.

This money will be spent better in ceratopsians or in a Brachiosaurus/Giraffatitan release.

This follows the known pattern actually and there is no reason to be surprised. The price of each of these large sauropods increased after the pre-order period. The 30 USD price increase is actually quite modest, about 15 percent. It is understandable that Haolonggood sells these high-risk products at a lower price during pre-order so that they achieve break even quickly. After that the price is increased so that they make real profit. The only case I found really unreasonable was the Mamenchisaurus which increased from 64.99 to now 99.99 USD. This is more than 50 percent. Maybe the Mamenchisaurus was selling so well in China and abroad that they could afford this price hike.

The bottom line is that 1) Haolonggood making decent profit means more great dinosaurs to come and 2) these large sauropods are still much cheaper than what any resin kit would cost. For example, the Passion Charger Argentinosaurus resin model costs 999.99 USD painted and 499.99 USD unpainted. Compared to this, the Haolonggood Argentinosaurus is a real bargain.

The Haolonggood figure is also a lot better and more accurate. It is obvious they let the Prehistoric planet research team do a lot of the heavy lifting, the figure is heavily based on patagotitan's skeleton and alamosaurus from the documentary 2nd season with the result we got the first figure properly showing the body shape of a huge titanosaur for the first time, no more slender body based on more famous species like brachiosaurus/apatosaurus/diplodocus or shrinkwrapped side view skeletal reconstructions.

For those who get the figure in hand just look at photos from the patagotitan skeleton, you will notice the width of the animal at the hips, the wide  flat back and broad chest, these things were crazy stocky creatures.

IMO it's been a good two weeks since we've had in-hand pictures of all four variants. More than enough time to decide on which version to purchase, assuming sufficient funds being available of course.

I wouldn't delay it any longer if you truly would like to add a copy to your collection lest you risk further price hikes.
