Hey!

I have been checking the toy reviews for a while and now I decided to get an account here as well.
I mostly collect Spinosaurus figures/toys of all sorts, but occasionally I grab other dinosaurs too.
My favourite brands would be Nanmu (I do hope they will not discontinue their statues in favor of the action figures), or Schleich for nostalgic reasons.
Schleich was also the brand I got my first Spinosaurus from. But I've been very much in love with dinosaurs ever since I remember (which means: ever since I watched the original Jurassic Park.)

Apart from dinosaurs, my biggest interests would be reading (all kinds of genres, I never leave my home without a book in my bag) and playing video games (but very irregularly).
I also have a few terrariums, but this hobby has been taking up too much space, so I have reduced it quite a lot- as of now, I got a couple of lizards, a gecko and a tarantula.

I'm looking forward to connecting with other dinosaur nerds and collectors!

Welcome to the forum! So I guess you like Spinosaurus, don't you?  ;D

Quite a particular collecting style, I don't recall having seen any other prehistoric animal figure collector before who focuses that much on just 1 genus.

Do you have a favorite amongst all those Spinos?

Yes, you might say I have a very distinct favourite dinosaur ;D
Although to be fair- Spinosaurus keeps going through so many changes, it's almost like collecting figures of a bunch of different dinosaurs.
I personally like both- the good old "JP3 inspired" Spinosaurus as well as the ones who try to be scientifically accurate.
It's pretty hard to pick favourites, but I'd go with the limited Nanmu Supplanter 1.0 for the first type, because I really love the way the face is sculpted. It seems to have so much personality.
And for the second type of more accurate models, I'd go tiwh the Mesozoic Life one. It may have some spots where it's a bit wonky, but given this was not made by a big company but by someone who just crowd funded it and made it as the first attempt of a figure ever, this is pretty impressive. And it was cool to see the whole project through, from first concept models to videos of the manufacturing process and finally holding it in my hands  :))
And the color scheme is pretty unique too!

Good idea to focus on that specific genus, avatar_ZelSeraph @ZelSeraph . By the way, do you have the two old, but classic Carnegie Safari's?

I guess I'm lucky that Spinosaurus is quite popular, so there will always be more figures. Focusing on only your favourite will get tough if it's a less lesser known one!
I have the big Carnegie one which was released around 2009, but not the one from the 90s. But I am sure I will add that one eventually!

Good. That 2009 Carnegie was a big hit at the time, and deservedly so - aesthetically, it's a beautiful figure. Quite a fair thing to collect figures for reasons other than our developing understandings of accuracy. A spectrum of individuals released over time gives a terrific sense of the history of our developing awareness of morphology of given genera.

That's an awesome Spinosaurus collection you have there, reminds me of how I started out just collecting Triceratops figures. You really have some of the best examples of that genus. Do have many Holy Grail figures you really need for your collection?
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

I only got that one rather recently, and it definetely is one of the figures I like the most. It is also a lot heavier than it looks to me, which was a surprise!
And I fully agree, seeing how much our idea on dinosaurs changed over time is part of what makes it so interesting. There is a dinosaur park not that far from where I live, and as a child I went there whenever we could. I remember from very early on, I was fascinated with the Iguanodon they showed- because they put the old one with the horn on his nose right next to the new one (which would also be outdated by now again) with the claw on his hand. Ever since then, I love seeing those changes. For the same reason I enjoy looking at old paleoart as well!

Thank you! Triceratops might have less variations in their bodies, but I always like looking at the different ideas of which colors they had, or whether the shield was patterned.
A Holy Grail Spinosaurus I would really want might be the Nanmu Dragon Soul one. As I really like Nanmu and that one also has such a good expression- and my love for Spinosaurus essentially started with JP3. But whenever I see it for sale (which is rare), it is way out of my budget so I can only dream and hope for a chance sometime. Same goes for the Showanna one, which is even more out of reach.
I just cannot keep up with the big players, but that's alright!

I really was not aware this is a rather rare thing to do, to just focus mostly on one specific dinosaur.
