I definitely like it and will endeavor to get one. Four clawed digits too, not five on the manus, if I'm counting properly.

I love how big and bulky it is. Great sculpt. This is the Megatherium I've always wanted.

The easiest solution to the finger problem is to pretend that this toy is Eremotherium eomigrans instead.

I believe the feet are still wrong. If I'm not mistaken, ground sloths used the lateral edges of their feet for walking, and that seems not to be the case here.

I'm debating whether to get it. I've always wanted to have a nice Megatherium figure. Safari's is quite good, but I'm not a big fan of it. And I find this TNG nicer, but it appears not to be very accurate.

That said, I don't know who else would make a new Megatherium. I'll think about it.

I have a certain penchant for having figures modified for a price and this one will be a major candidate. Specifically the issue of the lateral edges of the feet. I think that it can be done and that I'll generate a commission fot that outcome, since I really doubt that anyone else is going to attempt a Megatherium any time soon. I'm suspecting that this will be as good as it gets.

Sure, that can always be a solution! Despite some inaccuracies, TNG's Megatherium looks like a nice figure IMO, and with some accuracy enhancements, it would be even better.

Personally, I'm not into commissioning stuff like this, because, on top of the additional expenses (which AFAIK are costly), if some figure is released that lacks the issues I commissioned to fix, from my perspective, said commission would've been in vain for me. As I prefer figures to lack those issues from the get-go over figures modified to correct some issues. Even if I owned the improved modified figure, and a new figure with improved accuracy over the original version was released, I'd still want to replace the figure I own with the new one. And in that case, I believe I'd have more trouble selling the modified figure over the original, even if technically the result is a better depiction.

Also, based on the little I know about these modified figures, I think the modified parts are usually made of a different, not as durable material (like added lips on theropod figures). That's another reason why I'm hesitant about pulling the trigger on something like this.

And then, even if at some point we think some particular release is unlikely... who knows, really? The Safari Megalosaurus release reminded me of this. Had I gotten the PNSO Megalosaurus and commissioned it having lips added, I would have been fairly irritated, as after PNSO's, Safari's was released, which not only has lips from the get-go, but I also prefer its color scheme (and price!). Sure, that's a theropod we're talking about, so still more likely to be released again by some other company. But what if, for example, Eofauna suddenly announces a Megatherium figure? I doubt it'd have this sort of inaccuracies, and it would be an affordable figure, so I'd feel like my TNG Megatherium + inaccuracies fix commission would've been pointless for me.

Of course, I'm just talking about myself here, so if my quirks with this sort of practice don't annoy you (which I don't think they do, because from what I've seen you've had a number of figures modified to be improved), then it's clearly a great solution for essentially turning any figure into the ideal (for oneself) figure. And I recall you mentioning you being able to get these commissions for a lower price, so that'd be another solid reason why, from your perspective, this sort of commission makes a lot of sense.

I'd be OK with pretending the figure was Eremotherium eomigrans if the feet were alright, but I'm not sure I can get past the feet issue, as I believe that's something common to these ground sloths:

Megatherium americanum by Christopher Chávez.

Lestodon armatus by Christopher Chávez

Mylodon darwini by Christopher Chávez.

I'm still considering getting this figure (without having it modified, that is). If I go for it, I'll finally have a ground sloth in my collection (though I was specifically wishing for Megatherium itself). Otherwise, I'll get to save me some space and money, so both are satisfactory outcomes as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for those clear images of the sloth's feet, avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator , they will prove useful down the road.

Again, I'm so sorry.

On the other hand, I do like that sloth. It's something different

I promise you, there are SO MANY sentences on the DTF that can be taken out of context very badly. Once I saw someone describe their PNSO tyrannosaurus arriving as a

TNG Megatherium is available for preorder from Lana Time Shop. Ships mid-April. Here's the link:

By my estimation, $23.99 USD is a steal for such a high quality model like this. I can't wait to get mine.

BlueKrono

I got the brontothere for $13... with free shipping? How is that even possible?

Does anyone have their mammoth or the Stegodon there along with the Carnegie mammoth? Wondering how big this new Paraceratherium will be in comparison to the Carnegie mammoth, which is the biggest mammal figure in my collection (other then the Bullyland Deinotherium and Megatherium).

Nice to see another Lufengosaurus might be on the market soon, but man PNSO's new one is still top for me with its bright green colors.

I've always regarded the Carnegie as larger, scale-wise than the TNG , maybe 1/25-1/30 versus 1/35 ish.

Oh that Peraceratherium is a must buy for me!
