Quote from: DinoToyForum on January 26, 2025, 10:23:15 AMIn the case of the dromaeosaurs, including the Utahraptors, the producers and consultants knew they should have feathers but were limited by the technology at the time. This is according to conversations I've had with the consultants and, if memory serves, a talk I attended by Tim Haines.

avatar_DinoToyForum @DinoToyForum Sorry for the delay. Please see the Martill/Naish quote for what I meant: https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=11121.msg387851#msg387851

Quote from: Crackington on January 26, 2025, 12:31:37 PMUnfortunately, he didn't say too much more as most of the talk centred on the dissection of Episode 1 and the wee-ing Postosuchus!

That's too bad.

Fair enough.

QuoteDorling Kindersley have announced a companion book for the new series of "Walking with Dinosaurs", set for publication in June! Which means that the series itself won't be too far away!

God deal that means we'll be getting a trailer soon and I'll be honest this trailer is make or break for me there are several decisions they have made that I disagree notably not doing a Triassic episode, Framestore not coming back, a slightly more focus on dig sites and Ben Bartlett not returning so this trailer definitely has to win me over especially since I'm not really a fan of the group shot of the Albertosaurus but seeing it in motion will hopefully be better.

Look at the little babies!

I'm impressed the Spinosaurus is bipedal!  And I wasn't expecting it to have a family, that will be original.  I'm glad not to be seeing more Pachyrhinosaurus, I'm so tired of seeing that genus even though it's one of my favourite ceratopian genera.

Faelrin

Hopefully a trailer is not too far behind.

I'm surprised to see the M sail back though as I thought the rounded sail was picking up as the current consensus?

The babies are super cute, but I imagine highly speculative?

Ibrahim was the advisor and he still suports the M shaped sail. Others like Sereno or Hartman support more rounded sail reconstructions. Each one has it's own interpretation.

Seeing that PNSO Spinosaurus is shocking now that I haven't seen a quadrupedal Spinosaurus in so long!  The detail on the figure is beautiful but man is quadrupedal Spinosaurus hideous.  I'm glad it's gone!

Gwangi

The similarity with the PNSO Spinosaurus is uncanny.

Seeing that poster is a dream come true!

Simon Mandez is a known photobasher that engages in art theft. Comparison credits to @ddinodan. Is this really the best the BBC could hire? Either the art recruiter was incredibly lazy in vetting their artists, or we're seeing a case of nepotism here. I'm sure there are plenty of credible paleoartists that would kill for the opportunity to work for a BBC WWD project.

Ok, I was skeptical too, but didnt say anything cuz i didnt want to be a killjoy. But now upon closer inspection yeah it is pretty disapointing

Thank you for that. I thought the adult looked familiar, but I don't think I would've recognized the babies on my own. I just hope that the cover isn't representative of the whole book. AFAIK, the OG WWD books are illustrated w/stills from the series. I'd hate having to review this new book as negatively as I did Allosaurus :-\ : https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=2210.msg331751#msg331751
