I don't mind the Stegosaurus not having jaw articulation. I find the way they handled it on the baby very unappealing.

Faelrin

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy I wonder if the overall criticism for that one's implementation is why they didn't do it for this one here?

That would be stupid, don't give up, try to do it better
I would prefer something ugly like on the Ankylosaurus and hadrosaurs than literally just...nothing at all.

I'm of the opposite opinion. Either do it properly or don't do it at all. The resulting product without jaw articulation has perfectly fine presentation, just lacks a bit in playability. Whilst articulation done poorly irreversibly ruins the figure's presentation and negatively impacts screen accuracy.

Alright, I see your point there and I can kind of agree with it..
But they're figures, they're not supposed to be statues, yknow? The whole gimmick of the HC line is that they are highly articulated.

Eh idk jaw articulation never looked right on herbivores and on something as small as this guys mouth it wouldn't really add anything imo.
Especially after how awkward the baby's looked.

Quote from: Eatmycar on April 03, 2025, 07:27:31 PMI was really hesitant toward the idea of redoing some of the old HC figures... but... some have aged like milk.

The raptors, especially, though. I can make peace with Cerato and Parasaurolophus, but, man, the original raptors just look so amateur compared to what Mattel is doing now. The wild thing is that this was such a short time span for them to grow and create better figures!
Personally I really like the Cerato, the teeth look fine to me, and I imagine we're gonna get the other Paras in the franchise eventually but man those raptors. I can live with the jp3 raptors honestly theyre not that bad imo but yikes that first raptor is honestly the only one I think NEEDS a redo. Its kinda not good lol

The first few raptors and Tyrannosaurus need new figures but I still love the Ceratosaurus and consider it one of the best HC figures. I would love to get a new Para too, if it was the Dominion Para. It is amazing how quickly the line has improved but I wish they had worked out the flaws earlier on, before releasing any figures at all!

I'm cool with the Stegosaurus not having an articulated jaw. It's rare that I play around with these toys anyway.

Bunch of new toys just got revealed from a new Rebirth toy commercial (which Collect Jurassic shared):

-Dilophosaurus
-Eotriceratops?
-Proceratosaurus (repack of 2021's from the look of it)
-a gorgonopsid from the looks of it?
-a basal ornithischian or some kind of ornithopod?
-repaint of Tapejara
-new theropod
-2 new ankylosaurs

Some screencaps I took:

I was just about to share these! I think I like the gorgonopsid (Inostrancevia?) but the head looks enormous! I think one of the ankylosaurs is Edmontosaurus and I'm definitely liking that one. Seeing the Spinosaurus here is giving me second thoughts though.

Dilopho

I think that's definitely an Eotriceratops or a Torosaurus, buut..
If this is a Triceratops redesign for the movie, I'm very happy, it looks better than the rhinoceratops from the films   :))
And I don't mean that as an insult of course, I just always felt it could look better

The talk on social media suggests it is Eotriceratops.

Dilopho

Oh, and that Monolophosaurus is the same one from Chaos Theory's blind Baryonyx set. It's one that actually appears in the show, too, so that's funny to see it reused.

Is it from the movie or what?
It's just rare that a non movie animal gets a toy with such an action feature, yknow?

avatar_Dilopho @Dilopho There's a list on JPToys and Collect Jurassic of stuff we've not seen yet. I've included them in the op.

Specifically:

Danger Packs:
-Torvoneustes
-Iani smithi
-Dentaneosuchus
-Rugops primus

Wild Roar:
-Abelisaurus
-Aucasaurus
-Spiclypeus
-Euoplocephalus

Gigantic Trackers:
-Tyrannotitan
-Eotriceratops
-Purrusaurus
-Chilantaisaurus

Some of these I recall from the Entertainment Earth leak (when they accidentally added a bunch of listings pre-emptively) such as the Eotriceratops, and I think the Tyrannotitan (which was alongside the Barynoyx, Maiasaura, Nasutoceratops, and Utahraptor). I have no idea where the rest come from.

The new ornithischian or ornithopod looks like it could be Iani smithi based on the shape of the body, etc. Nearly matches the skeletal from the paper describing it (and on wikipedia). Edit: It is also feathered which is nice. Could be a nice stand in for a Kulindadromeus maybe.

Thank you Faelrin, so do you think that gorgonopsid is actually Dentaneosuchus with a big fang or what?
I'm really liking the look of everything here. I want more oddball species.
I'm actually excited to get that Eotriceratops, I had no idea it was coming and it looks nice!

I really hope it is Dentaneosuchus. We don't see enough of the weird Cenozoic crocodiles

The Cerato was one of the best when it came out. I compare it , especially the teeth to their newer mainline Ceratos and it's just leagues better.  The Para with those chubby chipmunk cheeks is almost cute in a LBT Ducky sort of way.  I agree the raptors are pretty rough now. Only fixable with all a lot of customizing. Hopefully the upcoming TLW Raptor will fix some things.  I don't really care about jaw articulation on the Stego either.   If only they could reach the best without so much trial and error lol

Carnoking

The Gorgonopsid will be an instant buy for me for sure! A rarity in the mainline these days

PrimevalRaptor

Yeah the head seems a bit large but that gorgonopsid (and the Torvoneustes, even if we haven't seen it yet) make me REALLY hope that stores will stock the smaller figures again over here, distribution has been dire with the larger chains only stocking the big figures.
