A worthy thought. It seems at times that the ultra iconic dinos , especially the rex, are the foundation of a lot of folks interest in these figures, and the multitude of others a supporting cast. As one matures in understanding and appreciation, hopefully that distinction gradually melts away.

2 things;

I wonder who is buying the Brown version... Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, and if it were the only choice, I'd happily grab it. That said, the Blue is so different than anything else I have (other than the HLG Carchardontosaurus), it was the only choice to make really.

and

It looks a bit small next to Cameron.

SRF

Yeah seeing it side by side with Cameron I definitely don't need this Rex.
But today, I'm just being father

Stegotyranno420

The reason I like this one is for unlike most other Rexes it isn't so oversized. It's more of the the "average joe-rex"

I'll never understand why some people can't be bothered to rotate images so that they're right side up.

Yeah, I don't know what to expect for the Giganotosaurus either: lipped or lipless.

Personally, no matter how good the figure will be, if it will be lipless then it will be a sure skip on my end. That's why I didn't get PNSO's Meraxes, after all.

I don't think their Giganotosaurus can beat the PNSO anyway.
The price can.

suspsy

Given that the Carcharodontosaurus had lips, it's hard to say whether or not the Giganotosaurus will have them. Either way, it will be irritating for those who are disappointed with the T. rex.

Bring on Saurolophus, Torosaurus, and Deinosuchus, I say.

I must admit they put extra effort on the teeth compared to other HLG & PNSO models. Much better teeth shape and coloration  than Cameron.

Scales are quite larger compared to PNSO though all over the body.I don't know if that also because popularity.

Is it a hot take to vastly prefer this new Haolonggood T. rex over PNSO's Cameron? Maybe it's because it closer resembles the rarely seen "gracile morph", or I'm just sick of looking at brown T. rexes, but I'm super into this new blue T. rex.

I'd obviously prefer lips, but when comparing this new lipless rex to what I consider the current best lipless rex (PNSO's Cameron), this new blue rex definitely comes out on top for me.

I've always hated the crocodile-like way PNSO handles liplessness with the teeth sticking directly out of the face, though. Atleast this model's liplessness looks a tad more natural-looking.

Yes it can, it would probably have better colors.

It has the Jurassic Park "partial lips" that leave the upper teeth exposed, which is always preferable to a crocodile-like arrangement.

Carnoking

That is a pretty nice looking rex head even without lips. I'm now sure sooner or later this will make its way into my collection

Joliezac

Really beautiful rex, I love the blue version, and you can't beat the price. The only reason I am not getting it is because I have many rexes already.

Turkeysaurus

Wouldn't teeth coming out of jaws (crocodile - pnso style) makes more sense though if they are indeed lipless?

Is there any animal with lipless like HLG version? Jurassic Park doesn't count  :))

If Haolonggood's T. rexes had come out a decade ago, or even in 2020, I would have snapped up the blue one in an instant. But if they really are serious about tackling a lipped version in the future, then I see no point in picking it up now.

What puzzles me the most about this model is how the mandible has big fleshy lips that seem to be able to cover the upper teeth, yet still they chose not to give the maxilla the fleshy lips, but instead made the maxilla so wide (too wide? It seems to me like so) that the teeth hang out and over the mandible. To me it feels weird and not realistic. As if they were not willing to go either way - fully fleshy lipped or lipless - and just made a sort of chimera. But maybe I am missing something here. Anyway, I find it too off-putting, unfortunately. Because if they would have gone the whole lipped way, I would have gotten this model.

Pinbacker

I ordered the blue one...my Tyrannosaur shelf needs more color. I'll just call it a Tyrannosaurus mcraeensis for now, it will fit right in with all of my  lipless PNSO tyrannosaurids

Quiversaurus

At one point I remember hoping that HLG improves on its carnivores / theropods, cause the disparity between them and their herbivores seemed quite large.

But I must say that with this T.rex 2.0, I think they've been able to do that. The articulated jaw and teeth seem much better executed than their Allosaurus for e.g.

And I think the stance for this is much more natural as well, more similar to their Megaraptor rather than their Allosaurus.

The more I look at the pics, the more the I like them...

Still a job well done, V @vampiredesign !
