The most recent Paleofiguras post says that the material will be PVC, it will come with a base and most likely the jaw will not be articulated.

MLMjp

As long as the base is removable...

Turkeysaurus

"Update on this release
It will be made of PVC at a 1:35 scale and will come with a base, the original plan was that it would have jaw articulation but they faced a complication and that is that the restoration that was done on this dinosaur (cheeks and throat sac) conflicts with the creation of joints and there are no good reference cases in mold design so it is possible that in the end they will opt for a static head unless they find one.solution in the next few days before production begins.
And finally the image is just a render and does not represent the final pose."

I'm excited to see more of the headsculpt. Hopefully it's not too thin.

I am in need of a 1:35 Tarbosaurus figure, as PNSO's one no longer satisfies me with its weird elongate skull.

Quote from: Elengassen on April 29, 2025, 10:49:29 PMTarbosaurus is rumoured to have had a large wattle or pouch of skin under its throat (although this is based on an anecdotal comment from a paleontologist and no evidence has actually been presented). I suspect that's what this reconstruction was inspired by.
Interesting, thank you for this information avatar_Elengassen @Elengassen I wasn't aware of that.
Do you know by any chance who is the paleo ?

One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

That's like PNSO-level detail. Hope it carries through to the final figure.

Arms definitely feels a bit large. The rest look good though. Hopefully the skull isn't too laterally compressed?

Turkeysaurus

Probably it's not easy to release a model without issues if you make it accurate and more complex. They play safe with non articulated jaws and a base, especially their first model for scientifically accurate. It's smart business imo.

Both company and customers don't need to worry about if jaws shut down well or if figure has balance.

Base must be removable though. My red line.

Over9K

This would be a good candidate for the alternate-head method of jaw articulation.

Halichoeres

I can understand why some would be disappointed, but for my part, I'm glad to hear that the jaw won't be articulated. That makes me more likely to buy it (I skipped PNSO's because there were a few things I disliked about it). I wonder if this is at a stage where they could still adjust the arms a bit.

I'm directly comparing the figure to the skeletals below, and to me the arms look spot on when compared to the holotype's.

I think the popular knowledge that Tarbosaurus possessed the relatively shortest arms on any known tyrannosaurid can sometimes lend to, ironically, it being reconstructed with arms that are too small. In those cases, it doesn't seem like people have a problem with that, again, because of that piece of information, even if the result is still the anatomy not being quite there.

Similarly, if a Daspletosaurus is reconstructed with arms that are too big, I get the feeling that most people don't either notice it or don't care about it, because, conversely, it is known to be the tyrannosaurid with the relatively longest arms (that we know of).

Halichoeres

Thanks, that's a useful comparison.

Is the base just for the render or will that be included?

This model is really stylish !
Comparing it to the PNSO's one, it would be almost difficult to say that they represent the same animal, given some striking differences in their anatomy :

Does anyone have an idea of the expected release date and if there will possibly be different color options ?

I believe the PNSO Tarbo is based on a fossil with a broken skull, hence that part of the weirdness? The rest is down to soft tissue, I believe.

Joliezac

This figure looks fantastic. I'd love to see one painted with the PP color scheme. Those spots were so unique.
