Darn, I was hoping one or the other between the Hammond and Super Colossal would be one of the new designs. Both have definitely been a long time coming but I can't help be a bit disappointed having wanted something at least relatively close to (or able to be used as a base for) a nice big articulated accurate Spinosaurus. Guess I'll have to wait for the Cyberzoic.

Even though I'm not a big fan of the Mattel toyline, I couldn't pass up on the opportunity when I saw the Hammond Collection Scutosaurus in store.

Scutosaurus is one of my most beloved prehistoric animals ever, and despite it's middling accuracy, what's the chance of ever finding an articulated figure of one of these peculiar beasties again? It's a charming figure and the eyes are quite beautiful.

So guess there either wasn't a Euoplocephalus to begin with, or it got replaced along the way with Ankylosaurus instead. Explains why it looked the way it did, because it is one. Collect Jurassic shared more images of it today and as Anklyosaurus.

I actually got some insight on this from somebody. I don't know if it's true, but they said that the Euplocephalus was planned for Mattel's line, but was never in the movie. They just replaced the figure with Ankylosaurus since they're similar and Ankylosaurus is in the movie and thus has priority.

avatar_Dilopho @Dilopho That would make sense. Honestly that was my guess too. Hope the colors on this one reflect the one in the film (I mean I think they're quite nice, and almost give me JPIII vibes).

What a relief that it's not Euoplocephalus. Maybe we'll get a smaller sized one next year, along the lines of Edmontonia and Yuxisaurus.

Prehistory Resurrection

The current selection at one of my local toy shops;

Latest arrivals include the Dino Trackers Indominus Rex, Ultimate Damage Indoraptor (I already have the Dino Trackers version, so no need to get this one) and Rebirth toys have started to hit.
Staff there wasn't friendly and were constantly eyeing me which made me uncomfortable.

Oh the looks I've gotten from employees and other customers in toy aisles and at checkouts for testing these toys out and carrying armfuls up to buy :*D
The worst for me is when I decide to finally ask an employee if they have this that or the other thing in stock somewhere, or if I do an order for pickup for whatever reason from Target and then I have to ask someone to grab my order for me from the back.

"Nephew's birthday coming up" is always the excuse I have locked and loaded if someone's really giving me a look but I'm sure whatever dinosaur themed shirt I might be wearing gives me away.

Employees at my local stores know me. No hiding that. It's always hey look it's the dino park guy! lol

I still distinctly remember the interaction I had with the checkout worker when I got my first legacy collection brach all the way back in 2019
"Would you like a gift receipt?"
"No ma'am"
"Are you the 'child' this is going to then?"
"Yes ma'am"  :))

I usually have my kids with me at the store so I don't get funny looks or comments when I buy dinosaur toys. I'm often wearing Jurassic Park apparel so some of them might connect the dots. I don't care what they think though. If I did care then I probably wouldn't be wearing the JP stuff.  ::D

The only time I felt embarrassed buying Jurassic World toys was when I picked an amazon order from a delivery point.

After the owner registered the delivery and I was about to leave, he said:
"Enjoy your Triceratops!" (It was a Chasmosaurus)

I was like: Mind your own business! :-[

First of all, Prehistory Resurrection... I am so JEALOUS of  you! What a great store.
You got Rebirth, Hammond Collection and human character packs, dang!

Second of all, I don't really care what looks I get in the store, but I get embarassed because since I take photos of my figures, everyone in my neighbourheed keeps noticing me doing it and I get all sort of reactions.

Some people think I'm carrying pet turtles, some people think I'm immature, some people think it's cool and encourage me, some people have even assumed I'm a drunk when I'm slouching over amongst the bushes trying to get a good picture. Which I guess I can understand!

I love the "Aren't you too old for dinosaurs?" question...

"Naw... I'm timeless."

Yeah, these are the two I'm after, but I have yet to find them in Ottawa.

Yeah, these are the two I'm after, but I have yet to find them in Ottawa.

My son spotted the Torvo first. I found the Inos when I saw the associated pterosaur.

They've actually received quite a few of the new models.

Street date for us in the UK is 26th May if that's worth anything. So I wouldn't be too worried about missing out on these yet, especially given it's a movie wave.

The D. rex figure is out in Mexico
