Quote from: Prehistory Resurrection on May 15, 2025, 06:47:55 PMNice! Did not know that Safari Ltd made a Smilodon cub. This one's more on the cute side as compared to Papo's one.

It released in 2005 at the same time as the Safari Sabertooth Tiger / Smilodon adult (that still survives in a slightly repainted form today). But only lasted a few years and likely only had a single production run.

It's pretty rare to find on eBay and I actually missed out on an auction a few months ago, so I was glad to see another opportunity come up so quickly. I was determined not to miss it this time.

Recently added the PNSO Wuerhosaurus to my collection. It and the HLG one make a lovely W. homheni & W. ordosensis pair. You can tell PNSO did their homework with the anatomy, with its short stubby forelimbs and extremely wide pelvis.

Nice images, avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy. I had initially held off getting the PNSO one, assuming that it would be redundant, but later was informed by avatar_Sim @Sim, I think, that they were two separate species. Yes, I'm impressed with the PNSO too, especially in hand.

My latest batch of figurines arrived - PNSO Coronosaurus, Haolonggood Saurolophus, and Boundless World Yutyrannus :)

Unfortunately, the Yutyrannus arrived with one of its legs warped, which was an easy enough fix. Much more annoyingly, putting the figruine onto its base caused paint to scuff off on both feet (especially the left one; it shaved off a very large part of paint on the heel, as well as some actual plastic). It's not visible as long as it's standing on the base, but when you take it off, it's quite noticeable  :-\ I might be able to fix it, but it's just not something that should happen, considering the price of the figurine. It's a shame, too, because it is an otherwise very nice model!

Fresh from Minizoo down under is HLG's Concanenator, yellow version -

A comparison with and to Wild Safari's version, also advertised as 1/35:

Another comparison with the larger scale (+/- 1/25) versions from Favorite and Carnegie Safari:

I initially proposed the two species ID back when PNSO revealed their Wuerhosaurus. Then avatar_Sim @Sim later confirmed that this identification is possible when he acquired his copies of the two titular stegosaurs. Which I'm very glad he did as I was considering passing on the PNSO version at some point!

Ah, very good. You guys were the one-two knockout punch that clinched the whole thing. Thanks, then, to you both.

I was pleased to have this  PNSO release, the Coronasaurus, just arrive at my door, the latest in the current line of ceratopsians.  I really like the dark highligts on its face and the subtle olive green
on the body of this centrosaurine.

A comparison to/with the string of ceratopsians that we have been offered this year (three centrosaurines [Lokiceratops, Coronasaurus, Stellasaurus) and one chasmosaurine [Spiclypeus]).

Initially I was disappointed by the body colour. But it's grown on me vastly.

At first, I didn't either, but I quickly started to appreciate it after DinosDragons' comments on his review, paying close attention to it, in my turn.

It really looks like that, doesn't it? But it is made of ceramic. ;D

New arrivals! It was apparently a Velociraptor kinda week. :)

On a whim, I decided to pop in to a local Value Village thrift store, something that I don't do too often anymore, as they seldom if ever have anything that I need/want. However, this time I struck pay dirt - the old Battat Utahraptor. It's a bit worn, color-wise, but it was never an easy figure to come by, and lo and behold, here was one in a cheap bag of cheap-o-saurs -

Lack of feathers aside (after all, this was a 1990's figure), it remains one of the best pieces of this genus ever made, a testament to the creative genius of the duo of LoRusso and Wenzel.

S @SidB I'm highly jealous. You just had the exact experience I used to literally dream about! Down to the exact figure.  :))

As the Jurassic World Rebirth figures hit the UK, I picked up the Power Devour T. rex
I had a gift card ready to go, but I accidentally tore the code OFF of the gift card while trying to scratch it off.
Thus, I had to spend a hefty chunk of my own saved money for this. I'm not pleased at all with the pricing on the new deluxe figures.
But it's a nice figure to have. Such a huge, bulky chunky rex.
The jaw doesn't hold shut, but I get around it by pushing folded paper at the back of the head. That's not a great idea in case it was to get stuck, but it works.

I've been holding the mouth shut and just looking at how cute the face is. It has that look, that look where it could very easily snap you in half like a dry twig, but would do so out of curiosity rather than malice.

And in an extremely lucky turn, I managed to pick up the Amber Collection Dilophosaurus from somebody auctioning it on eBay.
This one is a particular grail to me. I wanted it SOOO bad when it released, couldn't have it, and then for years after I was chasing it like prey, contacting all sort of people and even getting led on snipe hunts by them saying that they had them when they didn't.
Well, I finally have one now, so I can close that quest in my life. I need to take care of it, too- I didn't realise how cheap the rubber is on the Amber Collection compared to the Hammond Collection, as this is my first AC figure. It feels really dry and ancient!

But it's beautiful. Dilophosaurus was a really graceful animal, JP version or not. Such a long and serpentine creature.
There's nothing really like it today.

It seems to me that when I go out looking for something like this, I'm inevitably disappointed. But when I least expect it, and have no expectations, something like this happens. Go figure!
