Two more boxes from the last couple of days!

I took advantage of the Happy Hen Toys flash sale and ordered both variants of the GR Deinocheirus. They look very good so far, and I'll consider reviewing them if I can clear out more of my queue soon.

And then a more special package arrived...

Now, I already have an Invicta Plesiosaur (although this one is in better condition and seems to be a different print run) - but this is the first Invicta STAND I've held! It almost feels silly to be excited over something like this, but it's cool to have one unique more piece of the line - and a multi-purpose piece, too!

No, avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon, I don´t consider being that happy about a piece of plastic as silly. Being an Invicta nerd myself, I can absolutely understand your feelings towards this ^-^

SidB

A future review of those GR Deinocheirus' on your part would be something that I would look forward to, avatar_Fembrogon @Fembrogon .

My latest arrival from Minizoo is the HLG Baryonyx. I hesitated before ordering it (Did I need another Baryonyx?). It was quite inexpensive, so I decided to give it a try. Well, whether or not it was needed, I'll leave that unanswered for now and share these images with you. In particular how does it stack up against the PNSO which I recently acquired?

HLG Baryonyx

The competition from PNSO and Safari

You'll notice in the picture immediately above that the rear hinge joint of the PNSO is considerable more subtle than the HLG's. Of course the Safari, having no jaw articulation, has no such issue.

The relatively obvious rear hinge. HLG approach is definitely more crude than the PNSO. They haven't yet reached the sophistication in the area with their theropods, compared to PNSO. It would have been better, IMO, for them to take Safari's approach, that is, without the articulation (as HLG took with their Concavenator and Majungasaurus). There is also some daylight visible through the clenched teeth, though that can't be noted from this image.

The jaw line looks much better when seen from this angle of view. The Baryonyx looks best with the mouth open, very good in fact. Otherwise, it's an excellent figure posterior to the head, with beautiful paintwork.

Got REALLY lucky at the Goodwill bins today. I legit screamed when I dug BEN out of the pile! Super lucky find!

When two of the toylines you follow share a release date

I had a blue Grimlock as a kid, and I've been waiting ages for a new one. There have been no shortages of Grimlock toys, but for some reason they've been every color but blue!

Concavenator

CollectA's Gallimimus just in. More pics (including comparisons) in my collection thread.

Here are the latest newcomers, the Papo's Suchomimus, alongside the completed Crystal 3D Triceratops jigsaw puzzle with its nest :

...and Sucho having a snack, since the journey to its final destination has been particularly trying... Poor Cladoselache, decidedly lol

The strong point of Papo Sucho would consist of its "versatility" and its fair price, among other things : not only is it a toy, but it also turns out to be a very nice display figure.

My local Walmart freshly stocked up on JW:Rebirth merchandise, and sure enough a lot of it is much more tempting in person.
I limited myself to taking home just one today, picking the Frenzy Pack Edmontonia. It's pretty nice; I'll probably be getting more toys soon if they don't disappear from the shelves too quickly.

HLG's new Saurolophus has joined my hadrosaur collection and I think that it merits a brief comparison with its Favorite namesake, which so often gets overlooked because of its relative scarcity. Here's the greyish version -

The older Favorite Saurolophus -

The pubic boot is subtly visible on the HLG, but not the Favorite, a small defect on the latter.

I went back and picked up the Mattel Inostrancevia yesterday.

Quote from: Dilopho on May 28, 2025, 02:42:19 AMS @SidB I'm highly jealous. You just had the exact experience I used to literally dream about! Down to the exact figure.  :))
Don't give up, there's always hope!

Rebirth is heeeerree!:

Yeeaaahhh, I had a big haul today too. I bit the bullet and bought all the rest of the items that were tempting me on the shelf.

And as a bonus, this little fella arrived from Target online - less than two days!

Faelrin

Ya'll are tempting me to go and check again this week (my mom reported Walmart had the new stuff in, though not sure what exactly, other then the D. rex from what she said), but I also want to save up for whatever this year's SDCC exclusive might be, which releases next month.

Had a pretty good May haul.

For starters, a fellow collector was looking to part with his Eofauna collection. I've been meaning to catch up on all their proboscideans and this was the perfect opportunity. As an added bonus, he even had the new Ankylosaurus, so I can cross that one off the list!

Spoiler

The elephants are an absolute delight. Can't believe it took me this long to hop on this train. Here's hoping they tackle a shovel tusker or two down the line.

Big fan of the Ankylosaurus too. Always enjoy the fact that Eofauna is one of the few companies to give their herbivores aggressive posturing.

The seller also threw in this lovely ~1:35 short faced bear. I have no idea who did the sculpting or painting but it appears to be 3D printed.

Spoiler

Anyone else remember the whole "bear could beat a T. rex" meme?

As far as Mattel pickups go, there's still no sign of Rebirth merch in my neck of the woods (though those would probably be June acquisitions anyway) but I did come across some Chaos Theory clearance at my local Target and Walmart.

Spoiler

Ben has the honor of being my sole Chaos Theory human figure seeing as I never got the story packs.

Whereas the Hammond Collection has been my primary focus of the Mattel line for some time now, I still find it hard to resit some of their original mainline releases. Of course the Kryptops caught my eye as an Abelisaur but I also liked the bold colors of the Ceratosuchops, so when I happened across these at my Target for 5 bucks and change a piece, I was all too happy to snatch them up.

The Suchomimus, however, was not actually on sale despite sitting on a shelf marked as such  ::)  It's the second time I had fallen for it, and the first time I actually canceled the purchase but this time I didn't have the heart to leave it behind. I figured it could very well be the last time I'd see that mold, so I just bit the bullet.

And finally, took advantage of that too-good-to-miss Princeton University Press sale to pick up a fat stack of books. Say what you will about Paul but in a world where digital art is becoming more and more the norm, I do still love his raw, traditional style of drawing so picking up his latest field guides was a must. Also seemed like a good time to pick up their mammal guide and a few other books I had seen referred to in stuff I've been reading.

That' a really terrific acquisition, avatar_Carnoking @Carnoking . And all in one fell swoop to boot. Nice to see these gems come into the hands of someone who will appreciate their quality. Hopefully the  price was favorable to you, as it was a bulk purchase.

It was certainly too good a deal to say no to! I think all told I ended up paying around 25 a figure for each of the Eofauna's but even less if you consider the fact that he threw in the short faced bear and a couple of other figures he was looking to get rid of. The timing was perfect too seeing as I was getting closer and closer to panic buying them from ED given everything that's going on.

Once again, timing is seen to be of the paramount importance!
