Quote from: Flaffy on June 13, 2025, 04:40:31 PMSome comparisons between the Papo vs PNSO Suchomimus from Paleofiguras.

Ultimately, when both are being directly compared, the PNSO comes out on top if you ask me. That also shows that newer isn't always better.

PNSO's is the more accurate of the two, thus making it technically the better depiction of the animal. When it comes to aesthetics, everyone is gonna have different preferences, of course, that's fine. I personally like PNSO's better, too (it's such a beauty, still one of my favorites from them), but Papo's looks great as well.

Still, the fact that this comparison isn't pointless goes to show how good of a Papo figure that Suchomimus is (surely their best yet). It is coming from the same company I thought was never gonna be relevant again a couple of years ago. And when their 2025 figures are taken into account too, I believe we can now expect Papo to consistently make a good job with their figures going forward, which is great news.

All things considered, I'm happy with my PNSO Suchomimus and don't intend on replacing it with Papo's, but I'm still glad Papo's exists because they did a great job with it and I'm always happy to see this amazing species getting more love.

I'm sorry to hear that your model arrived in such bad condition :(
The German reviewer as well as StickyDan, in their previous post, reported the same flaw.
I'm now convinced that it's unfortunately specific to some German batches...

Quote from: Elengassen on June 13, 2025, 08:20:02 PMI didn't expect the Papo to be that much larger than the PNSO. Does anyone have an idea of its scale? I remember reading somewhere that the PNSO is about 1:32.
On their official website, Papo presents Suchomimus as an animal measuring between 9-11 meters in length :

https://www.papo-france.com/fr/les-dinosaures/981-suchomimus.html

The figure is 28.5 cm long, but its head is turned 90 degrees to the right.
So, as per my calculations, based on a length of :
1 - 9 meters, it would give a scale of 1:31.57 which could be rounded up to 1:32
2 - 11 meters, it would give a scale of about 1:38

However in my opinion, and despite its « approximate » scaling, the figure is rather well-proportioned.

I was somewhat under the impression that PNSO used more conservative size estimates for their Sucho. Papo being Papo obviously would go for the max, so the size difference makes sense.

That sucks. Bad QC is always a pain, but it's especially bad when it's a figure you've spent extra money importing. I've been there a few times.

Mine arrived this morning from Everything Dinosaur and the snout is perfectly fine. It's a shame is this seems to be happening on such a large scale, though.

Joliezac

Poor Sucho!! Mine should arrive on Tuesday from ED. I'm surprised it got to the US so quickly, can't wait!

Dang, was just about to order him after my house move...

SidB

They seriously underestimated the demand (unless they were capped by Papo).

Protopatch

I've actually noticed a funny misprint on Papo's Sucho...
It's written "Frane" instead of "France" lol

I assume that this is the case for all the batches, which makes this figure unique in every sense of the word :o ^^

Unless Papo is thinking of 'breaking away' and separating from France? The new country would be called "Frane"!

This would be a dangerous relocation !
In the French dictionary, frane is defined as a « landslide affecting the slopes of clayey hills under a climate with a marked dry season » Xtra lol

Extraordinary. I never thought I'd learn a word of French on an English-speaking forum. Even though I'm French myself. ;D  ::D

A little bit of revolution from time to time is a good thing, n'est pas? (Whoops, that line is from 'The Hunt for Red October".

I think Papo should re-Frane from separating.
