Yes, I bought from him when his prints first appeared. I was disappointed with the result - those wood grain-like lines as in the older picture here. I've avoided 3D printed stuff since, but it looks like he's gotten a better printer. Might have to go in for a couple models of his I've been ogling.

Do you have pics of the items you bought form tams7prairie? I've been eyeing their mammals for a long time as well, but was put off by how obvious the printed lines were.

This is an extremely normal practice in 3D printing.

If an STL file is for sale, someone who buys it can sell copies of those prints. They can't re-sell the digital files, but they can sell the prints themselves all they want. What's odd is the fact they bothered creating new branding.

I have never seen a company sell STL prints under their own brand name while not disclosing who the original artist is. I've purchase several models from printers, and all have clearly indicated the source of the files/the artist.

If that's a common practice (not to credit the creator, I'm aware that many freely allow people to sell prints) then it shouldn't be. But that's just my opinion.

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy, the new models from tams7prairie aren't 3D printed. It looks like he's casting and molding his figures now, since the figures I've received from him have the tell-tale marks of casts on them (sprue marks, mold lines, air bubbles).

Here are photos of the pieces I've bought:

You can see the mold lines on the legs of the Paraceratherium and the stomach of the Moropus.

I know this is getting way off topic, but regarding tams7prairie, I'm 99.9% positive he 3D prints the master model and makes molds from that. The print lines are fairly obvious, even on the new models (but I agree they look much better than older prints and have much crisper details). Per his own listings: "I used to use a 3d printer to do this model and now I'm casting it in resin."

Yeah, you can tell he's making the mold from the 3D prints. The lines are visible, but they don't leave much of a texture on the final cast, so I'm fine with it.

I didn't realize tams7prairie had changed the production method! I did a shoddy paint job on his Kannemeyeria, and the print lines gave me fits. I sanded the heck out of it first, too.
